Bioware, you did a fantastic job!! Please don't ruin the game making it easy mode with mods and add on capabilities.

Nice to see your totally missed the point of the post. Thanks for coming out though.
My pleasure, i'm in a trolling mood right now... i've wasted over 4 hours in Flashpoints i couldn't finish today. All thanks to broken mechanics and major bugs. So excuse me for my current angerlevel.

And on a more serious and mature note. My PC is fairly new (about half a year) and pretty powerful. I use the latest drivers for everything. My SWTOR is running on the highest possible settings. My nVidia driver settings are all modified for highest quality as well.

Yet i still see a huge deviation between armor pieces in game. Some look indeed ok, some look as if the stuff was painted on and water thrown over it.

Everything looks very good in cutscenes. And that is highly frustrating and a waste of good art design. The game CAN look great... so why do we have to suffer these mediocre textures.

They shouldn't just force tuned down graphics on everyone. If you have a good gaming PC you should be able to make full use of it. And even if not... it is your choice if you run around the fleet station with 1 FPS after turning up everything to maximum on a 5 year old machine.

According to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7RqU_Isw28

Just FYI it seems this setting doesn't exist in the NVIDIA Inspector software as a setting under the SWTOR Profile. I sadly cannot find a way to make it -3 or -2.5 as shown with the ATI tweaks on negative LOD bias. =(

It's definitely possible on nvidia cards. Just use the arrow keys to change the LOD in Nvidia inspector. Be warned that this does have a pretty dramatic impact on performance in some areas. Dual 580s here.

This game has it's moments. But the texture work is down right disgraceful.

Vharna, see this SS. Where can I change the actual value to -2.5 or -3 etc? It only gives me a dropdown arrow to change it from ON / OFF / DEFAULT.

I, too, see a direct correlation between sunshine and appreciation of graphical fidelity.

You know you sound smarter when you don't tack on the half-baked insult at the end, right?

Several tips:
#1 Run the game in Win XP SP3 compatability mode, and/or turn off Aero.
#2 Set lower draw distance in your .ini file.
#3 Turn bloom on, and shadows off.
#4 Download Nvidia Inspector and set FSAA to STALKER compatability.
#5 In Inspector, set LOD to -3.

#6 Have fun!

Because of how long it takes to put out an MMO, an MMO will never have the most up to date of up to date graphics. Furthermore because the better the graphics the fewer systems can run your game, great graphics could mean lower sales.

However better scaleability on the high end would be welcome. Saying "Well most players don't run rigs that can support that kind of power" is silly. Some can so why not let them?
My 2 cents

I find it idiotic that people actually complain about the graphics...the game looks amazing.

Becose geting it all ready for release takes time too and SWTOR needed to be released... The amount of textures this game has is just unimaginable. Now I know thats no defence when talking about quality control, but that probably is the real reason. Thy had textueres ready from few years back and investors said it was ready.
