To hell with Starports and Profession Hangars and Orbital Stations and Ship.

It's boring and stupid.

There, I said it.

If, for some reason you dissagree, thats your right. Personally, I think your nuts.
Fully agree. We all have personal starship by level 20, fricking beam me up.

Contrary to what one might think, tedium does not extend my play/subscription time. In fact, the opposite is true. Similarly, trudging about really does nothing to immerse me. It's like taking a story and inserting chapter after chapter that just say "walking, walking, walking." That may've worked for LOTR, but I think it's generally frowned upon.

Insta-travel already exists: buy a fleet pass.

Oh yeah because it's sooo painful to run a bit and be in a social setting to get to your mailbox. You know, might as well put all the trainers and all the NPCs on your starship so you never have to leave it.

What's wrong with you guys? Everybody knows this type of laziness kills a game, ESPECIALLY THE MMO PART.
Yeah, when 20 people in the same area doesn't generate a ton of lag for no reason, then I'll agree with you.

I agree with the instaport if characters who use it daily will have a Body Type 4 over time.

Lets say im on Taris
And need to go for a class quest to dromund kaas this is how that goes..

> Travel to the shuttle
> Travel to the orbital station (small loading screen)
> Walk through the orbital station to get to the air lock
> Enter your ship (cutscene)
> Loading screen
> Walk to your galaxy map
> Select the destination
> Small flight cutscene (no problems for this one)
> Exit your ship
> Another loading screen (these take freaking long... i mean all to world loading screens are really messed up 1-2 minutes (without installing it on a SSD) )
> Walk out of your hanger to the elevator
> Go up (small loading /black screen thingie)
> Walk through the spaceport to get outside
> Use taxi to travel to dromund kaas entrance
> Use your speeder to get to the dromund kaas central taxi (since yes they are not connected for no reason at all ?! )
> Use the dromund kaas central to hop over to the back of the city
> Walk towards your Darth

And then finally get told to get back to taris! *nerdscreams! *
This. Game breaking, really. Why would I want to do all this when I could just log into WoW instead, and experience no load screens. (or perhaps just one taking the Zepelin)

So I don't see it hurting community, nor would it hurt immersion anymore than quick travel already does.

I like it.

Simple solution . Done.

While you're levelling I think it's fine, however at 50 it becomes boring and un-needed in my opinion. I think at 50 they should simplify it to just getting on your ship and as soon as you select your planet and leave ship you're there. Or introduce a spell for consulars and/or other spell casters that allow you to portal players to other planets. For me running to your hanger, getting on your ship, selecting your planet, leaving the ship, running to the planets orbital station, getting on that and then arriving at your destination is all getting a bit to much.

It is the classic dynamic of convenience vs simulated world. As is it takes you less than 3 seconds to travel from say Hoth to Tython at your ship's bridge. All the starport hallways serve is the feeling that traveling somewhere takes time :-p

The alternative of insta travel makes the game world feel really, really, small.

There might be a happy medium, but Bioware hasn't found it.

I agree, Perhaps removing the 2nd "air tight" area you have to go through to get to your ship.
