Scared of swtor being a fad

This game is fun, but it won't kill WoW, and a lot of people will go back.

No game will surpass WoW until a game launches with a superior feature set, and at least comparable gameplay polish/quality. WoW "beat" EQ because it bought a ton of new features to the table that made the game far more accessible, and within a couple months did everything EQ did better, in a way that was more fun for 90% of the population, and attracted new people that never would have played an MMO before.

Until another game does the same to WoW, it will always be the market leader.

However, this game is a lot of fun, and I think it will retain a good number of active players, enough to allow BW to continue development at full speed ahead. Maybe in 6-12 months, it will have a feature set to rival WoW. I think they need to take a page from Blizzard's book in terms of quest design relatively quickly. Cata's questing experience is far more varied in terms of what they actually have you doing during gameplay, and they always seem to do a good job of throwing that variety in at just the right moment to keep things from getting repetitive. SWTOR is good in terms of feeling non-grindy for the most part, but many of the quests do get rather repetitive rather quickly.

Although I have already quit this game I htink 2 million is more than enough to create a solid community. After the dust settles, in a few months, they need to consolidate the servers and that's it. As long as your server is full, why do you care how many other servers exist?

SWTOR delivers for me, and all my friends enjoy it as well.

Everyone I know will re-sub, but of course no one can know how it will look 3-4 months from now.

i agree with what was said previously. play what and how you want, it doesnt matter if its popular or not, just that you enjoy it

1) Wow did not beat EQ... EQ is still pay to play, and is now 13 years old. WoW is only 7 years old, and has yet to beat EQ... oh it may have more subscriptions than EQ but it is not a foregone conclusion.

2) Wow did apply a different standard to the mmo's and i still think it is not as fun as eq ever was. here is why: you don't even have to try to find a quest... walking down the street oh there is a wild mark over the head of a guard... i must click the guard and click my answers and go. EQ: damn i can't find a quest.... hey why don't i click this guard and hail them... hey there is a word that is different. how do i get it to give me a quest... ok a week later i'm back damn what quest was I on? in WOW I hit my tracker and it lists things.... in EQ I look to my inventory... oh yea that's what i'm on lets continue to finish it.

3) honestly i think that EQ surpasses WoW in complexity. oh yes now over 7 years into it's run ok maybe at 5 years... they have features implemented in eq2 and that wow both put out at the same time. but it still is talk to this person and truly talk to them... it's not click click click click.

WoW has a lot of subscriptions.. how many of those are duplicat and triplicate subscriptions? where the same person owns the different accounts? no blizzard employee will EVER comment on that number because it will obviously reflect badly on their previous statements the game has 13 million subscribers.
