Nar Shaddaa really made me sick, i just did class quests and got off that linear city.
I used to play on Sunrunner, but then ... now i play on Prophecy of the Five.
SAIL!
Prophecy of The five Forums
Blame it on my A.D.D. baby...

It is atrocious, but every area before Tatooine is really bad. Areas inaccessible without taxi rides, only one way to get anywhere, corridors full of trash mobs, and absolutely nothing of interest that doesn't have a quest marker on it.

Honestly, I didn't mind it too much. The narrow corridors with constant trash mobs was annoying, but I could deal.

Voss, however, was my least favorite. And by least favorite, I meant I hated every minute of that abysmal planet. And I know a place called the 'nightmare lands' shouldn't be a childrens park, but I truly haven't hated a zone in any game every more than that one.

Odd.

I hardly ever roll alts, yet I've a 26 Assassin, 25 Merc, 25 Juggernaut, and my newest toon a 14 Sniper.

The class stories are what's caused me to roll 4 toons in the game's first month. Other MMOs can't offer anything close to the difference in class quests this game can, nor the immersive quality of them. I looked very much forward to starting each class', and look forward to finishing them.

Granted the side quests can get old fast, but they aren't necessary if you're willing to forgo commendations and make up xp via PvP. Running through them, however, with my light and dark leaning Sith, mixes up their outcome; adding some variance (cut scene changes/rewards/final fights).

Also, Nar Shaddaa is sweet. . There can't possibly be a cooler spot in game for a light-saber duel than on the taxi deck of one of those floating casinos.

Nar Shadaa seems to me like a scene from Blade Runner come to life in an MMO. I loved that movie and I like Nar Shadaa quite a bit. I hope to see future patches utilizing more of the space there.

Worst planet/zone ever. I cannot remember such a miserable leveling experience in any MMO I have ever played.

And I am not just saying that, I sat down for a good hour and discussed it on vent with five other MMO vets (1997 UO players - now), we all agreed there has never been such a horrid place as Nar Shaddaa.

I loved Nar Shaddaa, it reminded me of the movie blade runner.

I think some might be confusing my criticism of the level design with aesthetic design.
I really enjoy flying around the Taxi paths and cityscape, it's a beautiful zone in that regard, but that's not the problem.

Bioware are excellent at linear storytelling experiences that get you from Point A to Point B, which makes the storyline questing a real joy in SWTOR - much more engaging than any other MMO.

But I think you need a shift in philosophy when creating an MMO, because you are creating a persistent world (or in this case galaxy) which people will inhabit after they have finished the questing.

When you look at any zone map, the paths are very clearly defined and there's almost no reason not to just follow them from objective to objective.
In fact in some cases, it's hard to stray off the beaten path and explore the zones because of physical barriers or the amount of unavoidable mobs, and usually there's very little reason to bother.

Nar Shadaa felt the worst to me so far, because once you get to each section, you aren't in an open cityscape anymore; you are in very linear, boxed-in corridors, with little flavour or beauty and little to do other than run and gun from one end to the other to get to your objective

I love the suggestion of adding Casino's in random places around Nar Shaddaa, and not just around the promenades.
I realize it's early days yet, so I'm hoping that once they get further along their development, worlds will start to feel more fleshed out than they currently are, and not just a linear questing experience.
