Greatly Improved FPS

So I'll start by saying that this is not a miracle cure to the problem plaguing so many of us and I'm only adding my two pence to the umpteen number of possible "fps" fixes that are floating around.

But here goes;
Like many people on here I've been enthralled by the game but utterly p***ed off with the way it runs. So after re-installing Windows 7 64bit, installing the game onto several different hdd's (SSD and Mechanical included), testing various different Nvidia drivers, trying the winxp sp3 compatiblity trick, changing every setting ini tweak and gfx card control panel performance tweak I've found or know of. Plus resolutions etc with no difference in performance. I have finally got the game running at a much more acceptible level, example: Aldeeran warzone before: Frame rate down to 5/10fps, After? 30 minimum.

Check the spoiler for detail on my specs, I'm using the latest nVIDIA WHQL driver 285.62.
System: i7 920 @ 2.8ghz / 12gb ram / Geforce GTX580 / Crucial m4 SSD.

Ingame settings: 1680x1050 (120hz) Everything on High with Shadows turned off / Bloom off.

So what did I do? Simple just went into the nvidia control panel and added a Swtor.exe profile manually to the Program Settings Tab of Manage 3D Settings (and yes I'd previously forced AA and other settings including AF etc using the nvidia Inspector program and it did nothing to my performance), ever since doing this the game now runs exponentially better than it did! It's still not brilliant but i'll take an upgrade from a milk float to a Ford Escort anyday, at least until they manage to work out the real problem.

[EDIT - I manually set each option for the profile as well even if there was no difference from the Global Setting]

I hope this in anyway helps anyone, or if you've already tried this and it didnt work? I'm sorry :/ sucks to be you, plus I dunno if this'll work in Cataclyst Control Centre but its worth a bash.

Good luck all!

Yeah I found that recently it was taking a massive nosedive too, maybe since the most recent patch.. but trust me when I say after doing that (for me at least) its running much better.

Funny thing nvidia control panel recognizes Swtor as WFC RAlly 2011 (some sports game I guess).

Check in the profile section of your Catalyst center mate, there should be an option to manually assign settings like Anti Aliasing etc to a games .exe.

This creates a profile for the game for the driver to work with, which is what I've done in the nvidia control panel. Give it a go and let me know if anything happens

Yes. Download RadeonPro, install it, and then it will allow you to setup your own profiles for various games and programs. Its a really great program and it saves you quite a few headaches.

I can't find anything that resembles that, only thing that comes close is "Presets"

This. I downloaded RadeonPro and it's amazing. Everything from screenshots to showing a better FPS to benchmarking your performance and monitoring your GPU while you play the game, this program is amazing. I swear by it now.
