Both of those games have PvP communities that loose members faster then they replace them with new Ex PvE Playing converts. The PvP stats make it VERY VERY hard to introduce new players to the fantastic world of PvP that we all get. I think most of us will grind on alts when we have too ect... because we are already hooked. There was a time when every one of us was not a PVP player... admit it none of us came to PvP first.

The bracketing that PvP stats creates drives away growth. It will become a problem for TOR in the future as well.
People either enjoy PvP or they don't. Everyone gets a taste of it at some point, and you either love it or hate it. I've certainly never been able to convert a carebear into an avid PvPer, even in a game devoid of a stat like Expertise, have you? Whether that game was WoW, Starcraft, Quake 3, Gran Turismo or Doom, everyone's tried it at some point and decided whether or not it was something they enjoy. You can't force someone to enjoy PvP by babying them into it; you'll only succeed in dragging them through increasingly stickier mud until they get reminded of why they don't like it.

With that in mind, there's nothing wrong with Expertise. It separates PvE and PvP gear, and provides an appropriate reward system for people that follow each avenue separately.

Most importantly, given that stats on items and their respective strengths for different characters vary ENORMOUSLY in games like this, it prevents PvErs having to PvP to get the best PvE gear, and conversely, PvPers having to PvE to get the best PvP gear (for the most part).

Sounds like you might be the inexperienced one, or someone who rushed to 50 and enjoys slaughter rather than pvp.

Anyhow, it wouldn't be so much of an issue if it wasn't only level 50 pvp gear and much less of an issue if the blue pvp expertise gear was still floating around.

Why cant we just rip pvp away from pve. Lets say you level a character to 50 this then allows you to join a giant pvp server and make a pvp character with a pre set of starting gear that changes based on new season of pvp.
With in this we have a league system where at the beginning you can only progress by doing pvp objectives (we can call this minors). then have a mid league with pvp like it is now. and then have a pro league where players can get drafted up from the mid league or brought back down.

... I'm really bored no sports on .

Pack of ******* you all are - I can solve every problem in the game today:

All toons will start at level 50 - No more grind for anyone!
All toons will start with the best gear available - No advantage for anyone!
All gear will have the exact same stats - No advantages for anyone!
All toons will have two skills - a heal and an attack - No advantage for anyone!
All toons heals will heal to full health everytime (no cooldown) - No advantage for anyone!
All attacks will do the exact same amount of damage - No advantage for anyone!

There the game is now perfect enjoy your boring *** game.

Ugh.

Why they make this game dependent on gear for pvp is stupid anyway. It should be about skills, play-style, and being good. They should offer stat rewards or other abilities. The only pvp mmo that I have played set around gear was aion and I hated that part of the game. At least, I know this game will never get that bad. I'm just hoping end game pvp will become fun.

Seriously? What about the people who still like the illusion of progression? I hope your welfare idea is yours alone because it's terrible.

So, you want a game where everyone is on equal footing, and within the same paragraph suggest that people get rewarded with 'stats'* or 'abilities'**, which puts them at an advantage over others that don't have them.

* AKA Gear
** AKA Set Bonuses

With in the system you'll have progression in gear. Just the starting pre set gear would be there to keep from being blown out of the water

I really like the part in yellow. I would love if games gave you max level so you could actually go out and PvP/grind more credits.

Games should be about end game, not the story leading up to end game.
