Perhaps not entirely, but given the range of incidence I am pretty sure it is some inelegant coding on the game's part as most to blame.

It wouldn't be so bad if it were isolated to that one area, but it's not.
I've seen this on my wife's computer, but not mine. Which means it's an issue only on certain machines, which makes tracking the source of the problem a little harder, I imagine.

Actually, it sounds like a graphic card issue. Most likely overheating.

Haven't experienced this on Tatooine yet. Saw it on Taris and Tython a bit and that was around base camps and cities where you had the towers shooting the green laser. Sometimes it was neat, others it was annoyning. but once I got away from those areas, no issue. Don't recall seeing it on Dromond Kass either.

Nvidia GTX cards in the 5 series have some trouble, minor ones but still. One could monitor it and read log files but i guess not.

Same thing happened on WoW, with the same range of incidents.

How I fixed mine? Opened the case, and eventually put a new heatsink on the graphics card.

Graphical tearing and laser light show gone.

I can tell you what it's related to.

There's circular towers about three or four times the height of an avatar in various locations. In the center of these towers you might see a green laser shooting straight up into the sky. These "Laser light shows" are ALWAYS connected to these green lasers. There's a connection, darnit!

It's not a Drivers issue (at least not in the sense that Updating will correct this.) It's not a defunct Hardware issue. It's a problem with the rendering engine and NVidia having complications.
Own a Nvidia. Have not seen this once.

This is my experience as well. If I see it and rotate 180 degrees, graphics look normal. If I leave that area and come back, it's usually still there.

Glad to know (well sorta) that it's not just happening to me.
