Why are people telling me to give this game more time?

For most players here SWTOR isn't their first MMO

Most players here will really get 60-90$ worth of their money by playing a massive amount of time for a month or two or three. Really, time played vs game cost, newly released MMOs are are good purchase (I've lost count of how many 60$ games I've bought and only played them 10-15 hours).

Then in 3-4-5-6 months a huge amount of players will have quit & be gone elsewhere, just like they did in all games before.

I know for sure I won't be playing SW:TOR in 6 months, and most of my friends won't either. There's no illusions here, MMOs take a ton of time to properly developp (read: WoW), and I sure won't be waiting 5 years for the game to mature where I'd like it to be now.

Still, I'm enjoying my investment right now.

There are many bugs and a few mechanical flaws in this game, but i honestly have to say that you should try to reroll another character before you quit.. I too hit level 35 on my sniper, and then i got stuck, i just couldn't take it anymore.

The class has a few gamebreaking bugs, and it's frustrating as hell. I have rerolled a Jedi guardian, and even tho many people complains about that class, i have yet to find something nearly as frustrating as the many sniper bugs..

Skyrim launched completely impossible to play thanks to the bugs yet I still paid £40 for it, just had to wait 3 weeks for them to be solved to an adequete level to make it playable once more.

Expect almost all of these major bugs to be solved within the 1month free period. 1.1 is coming out very soon with new content (2weeks from now), would expect the major fixes to come with or before that.

We estimate that it will take us at least 5 more months of internal testing to get it perfect. Or we could release it now in near perfect condition and use the data from millions of subscribers to help squash these bugs. In the end, we'll be done in half the time and you'll get to play the nearly finished produck 6 months earlier, what would you rather we did"
I'd honestly say call me when it's done then because I'm not a spoiled brat who "wants his pwesents NOWWWW!"

This "relatively minor" bugs have frustrated and infuriated me 9/10 times I log on, usually prompting me to log off and find something else to do. Due to the state of this game I don't want to re-subscribe and slap myself for being fooled into a purchase to begin with. They have 1 chance to win me back, and that's with some major fixes SOON since I'm already stuck here for a month.

You asked for things TOR does better and I told you. Companions are far more than pets. What other MMO has a gem system that raises the effective level of the gear? I haven't heard of that before.

You talk about new things. Tell me, what great innovations do you think can be made in this genre (or ANY genre) for that matter? It's all minor tweaking, minor improvements. You discount Story and voiceover and then ask what the game brings that's new. You're disqualifying the one truly innovative thing the game brings to the table in one breath and asking what innovations it brings in another.

Seriously, there have been only a few innovations from one MMO to the next. From EQ to DAOC it was the RVR. From those to WoW, it was the questing from 1-cap and instances. From WoW to this it's a focus on interactive story and voice. Other than that, it's been minor improvements from one iteration to the next. There were things that weren't done as well from one to the next, too, and those improved with time. A new game is not going to come on the scene and dominate in every aspect. Everything in a new game has to be built from the ground up.

There's something else I forgot to mention that TOR brings. Legacy. Sure, we don't know the details, and for good reason. If they divulged the details of it, it would likely be stolen and assimilated by you know who.
