Where with SWTOR you dont even really need crowd control abilities and it really doesnt even matter if the DPS takes aggro.. Its so easy you can just keep fighting through it with the healer being a little stressed.. Thats tank and spank..
So you're talking about trash, heroic quests, and minor bosses. Wow, you're asking for a little much. Heroic quests aren't meant to rival flashpoints, for one thing. Trash is just that. And minor bosses are supposed to ramp up in difficulty up to the end boss. You're not going to have raid mechanic fights in every single pull. CC isn't going to be required (though it helps on big pulls and tough Heroics. Yes they do get harder the higher you go.)

Speaking of minor bosses in FP, they aren't all tank and spank either. The wookiee in Cademimu intermittently spawns waves of strong ugnaughts. Best way to deal with those is to move them into the bosses flamethrower. That's a non-tank and spank mechanic.

The first boss in Cademimu for that matter - Intermittently sics his robot on a random party member. Either needs to be kited or DPSed down fast.

Since the last patch, CC helps in the boarding party fight on Mandalorian Raiders, though it's not required. The first boss on that one is easier, too, if you keep the dogs away from the Mandalorian.

You're not going to get these kind of mechanics in Heroics because, simply, people wouldn't do them. The reward wouldn't warrant the effort. In flashpoints, though, the vast majority of boss fights are anything but tank and spanks.

I honestly don't trust most people here to understand anything at all about what designing, developing, testing and releasing a game like this involves to begin with.
Especially when said person lacks a basic understanding of how games are even made in the 1st place. (not you, him obviously)

I get irritated when I get sold something thats not functional. Don't stop reading there please. I know how many of you like to stop reading negative opinions early.

I come on these forums to trying to find a reason why the game was released like this; no devs respond and people just tell me to "give it time"? According to some scholarly gentlemen on these forums, apparently MMOs are always released in a crappy state. Why not complain to the companies so that they stop being released in a crappy state? Wouldn't that make sense for our futures as gamers?

Maybe BioWare/EA does not have any interest in their customers and they made a Star Wars MMO because they knew it would sell even if it was a flop?

Maybe they are releasing a bunch of new content (e.g. http://www.swtor.com/blog/sneak-peek-james-ohlen) just as everyone's free month that came with their SWTOR Christmas present runs out in an attempt to catch a few of them for another month or two?

Maybe they added Starfox style "space combat" for a little extra PR?

I feel like BioWare/EA is doing just enough to slip by and make a profit. Hell, even when getting personal with a BioWare representative (see: http://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/commen...ager_for_star/) we still can't get a straight answer. It seems eventually is a popular word around here. What people need to understand is that "eventually" fixing a product is not going to cut it in a competitive market. I'm also reading that there are a number of fixes were stated in beta testing that were not fixed upon release. That is the most disappointing issue for me that leads me to believe BioWare/EA just used the beta as advertising and hoping to get people hooked before release. If bugs aren't fixed in beta, then when are they fixed? In engineering, you know what happens when mistakes are not found in beta stages of development and a product is released? PEOPLE DIE. (See: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35110966...erators-stick/)

Ok, well people may not die from this video game. They could waste $60, $80, $150, which is close.... I guess??.. No. Anyways.

So were my expectations too high when I expecting a video game on the shelf to be fully functional? Or should I always just wait a year after the release of an MMO to buy it? I want to know your guys opinions on this. I feel like companies should be held responsible when they rush products out the door like this and the customers are the ones that suffer.

(Also releasing a game without high textures??? I want what ever they were smoking.)
Personally the only problem I am concerned about and I feel they definitely dropped the ball is the ability delay that some are drastically feeling...This needs to be fixed ASAP!!!

Otherwise, nothing else bug/glitch wise is a big deal to me and doesnt effect ME really at all...I have played so many damn releases and it has never been any different unless it was worse..

I know the last thing you want to hear is give it more time, but either dont play or give them more time is all you can really do...The only thing I will tell you is this...Do not expect GW2 or any other to be any different with their launch...IF their game is perfect at launch, then other companies will definitely have to take note...

lets do this.. Name MMORPG features in SWTOR other than the story telling where it has not been done before and done better by SWTOR...

BTW needed CC on normal pulls have been a staple of MMORPGs for years.. Its new where its not needed because MMORPGs are dumbed down these days for people like you...

That raises the question why bother arguing with them?

Jests aside I do think Bioware could have picked a better engine for this.
Even if you don't take any kind of bugs into account, this engine has a lot of limitations.
A more modern stream lined engine could have been more beneficial for both customer and developer.

But than again I don't know why they decided to use it for a MMO that is a PC exclusive.
My guess would be time or recourses.
Stephen Reid - 9:02a.m. - January 11th 2012 - because in reality, there was never supposed to be a 'Medium' choice - that was a bug.

NBA 2K12 launched incomplete. I paid 60 bucks for that too.
