This would be a dream come true for me. I share the same situation as most. Played WOW for many years under Wine, and would be thrilled to do the same here.

wow, this still isn't fixed? I'm glad I never paid for Crossover Games (I was thinking of getting it before the game came out so I could play swtor, but decided on dual-boot instead)

Using Linux Mint Debian. I've reinstalled Windows (dual-boot) only to play SWTor. I would love to see, SWtor running under Wine.

Unfortunately, this'll probably never happen mainly because of licensing (GPL) and not technical issues.

WOW, and you actually got me thinking that you know what are you talking about when you were talking about kernels, ofc, you were wrong about Linux being server only OS but that is for much larger discussion. Wine is not emulator. Wine is just a translator. To prove that, just start any win app under wine and windows of your choice. In most cases, app on wine is going to start few seconds later but after that have same or better performances (since no background windows apps are draining resources).
In the begining Wine was designed to run office like Win apps, and no direct x - 3D was there. So ppl used OpenGL to run games with OpenGL support (like WoW). Nowdays, DX support is present. It is not flawless but linux users are happy to have it anyway.

Regarding speed, functionality and simplicity, Linux is somewhat like MacOS (they are built on similar standards) but Linux gives more customization options. Both OSes are faster and more stable than Windows and without problem of cummulative lag in speed, present on Win machines (just look one windows PC on the day when it was unboxed/installed and one year later and you must notice significant speed change.

Finaly, windows is about 15GB that makes my SWTOR 15GB heavier than it should have been since I use win for TOR only. No one asked for Linux support. Just to undo whatever was done in beta to block Wine. It shouldn't be official. We would be content with basic functionality, low graphics etc. No support team required. If I want that, I'll go and have windows, but let us have a choice.

Still no major viruses for Linux, very few on Mac, and on Win... AV is requirement. Think about performances just from that perspective.

I like to throw my support in on this topic too. I'm not trying to whine, but I'm tired of WoW after 5 years and the impending addition of Kung Fu Panda. Now I'd at least like to use Wine, but yeah... There are definitely enough bugs to work out of the game itself first.

Raising my paw in support of a little Linux help. Running the game under WINE would be very lovely.

Of course my fantasy is to run it natively, but I have a very active imagination...
May the mass x acceleration be with you.

I wonder what we could do to pressure them into dealing with Wine [in]directly.
