Yup, exactly what I'd do to. In fact thier "maint" period is right when I play too...because I work the midnight shift. Dont hear me crying about it. Id rather have a game that performs well and is patched with bug fixes or current content than something thats sluggish and laggy. Sure, they can split the distribution of the updates...but gotta look at it from a business perspective, its cheaper for them to do it all at once, further thier doing it during typical working day hours. So when you come home...the game should be up and ready to go, on both sides of the pond.

Every MMO I've been a part of did maint once a week...and on that day (typically tuesdays) you'd find something else to do. If you cant deal with a few hours of downtime a week, then clearly your not cut out for MMO gaming, or have too much time on your hands to begin with. I work full time and go to school, still don't hear me crying about the maint interfering with my game time. I pay just like everyone else to. Learn to deal with it, as I don't see them changing thier update habits/schedule in the future. Hate to come off like that, but no one said honesty is always nice.

No, the customer is usually an idiot who has no clue.

So... Complaining about a bad service is a first world problem? I am pretty sure it happens even in the poorest countries.

This has absolutely nothing to do with a sense of 'entitlement' either. It is just complaining about a service that I enjoy but is handled pretty badly. I would really love to see it improved (Separate maintenances!).

Compare this with say a movie theater. The theater sells tickets that are more costly than normal tickets but they let you go see movies every day. Now the movie theater obviously needs maintenance time. Of course you expect that maintenance to be during the NIGHT when people aren't watching movies... But this movie theater belongs to a global chain so they do it during the day. To make it worse, this was NOT MENTIONED when you bought the ticket! Most movie theaters would do it during the night no matter if they belong to a global chain or not, so people would naturally assume this is the same.

For no real reason European players are receiving worse service for higher price than American players... Why are some people so surprised they are complaining about it?

I'm not surprised thier complaining about it, but I've learned never fight, fights you can't win. I'm not so sure this one can be won. Sure they backed up the maint window 2hrs, from the last maint they did, and perhaps they'll back it up a bit more. However, highly doubt they'll split the updates by zone..its just not cost effective for them, plus personnel wise it may not be either. We have no idea..as we're not employees of BW. All this is just speculation. Heck it could even be a technological issue...who knows.

HAve you looked at when the american servers update...

Yes - they already update in the middle of the night - so the CURRENT system involves the employees staying up all night long.

DOH!

Yes, we can't know for sure the reasons behind it... But most MMOs that have separate servers also do separate maintenances. If we complain enough BioWare just might start doing it too, which would improve the service a lot for me and many other Europeans.

You know what's not cost effective? When a sizeable chunk of your EU customers quit. Every 1,000 subs that quit could hire 2-3 Server Technicians.

Wow lets give Europeans another mid week maintanance till 5PM IT WILL BE FUN !

Seriously Bioware, stop failing at noticing Customers or your MMO will go straight to where it started.

If for 1 day a week, i cant play until 4pm , or later with failed maintenance, I don't think ill be the only EU that has a lot of time on their hands, unsubscribing TBH.

and you complain about costs, or they maybe cant do it cos of how the game is written, Then they are doing it majorly wrong. No excuses
