I have the very same problem, and it's so frustrating. I got my copy (wasn't easy) and now I can't play. I hope they will give us a blue post soon.

Did you computers where working fine before patch 1.0.1?
I'm assuming that everything else woks fine, only Swtor has problems.
Only what I can suggest is, remove all old drivers, use latest WHQL drivers (mobile and desktop have separate installers). Try lower video card memory clock or memory and GPU clock with Afterburner over clocking tool. Do not touch other settings.
Sadly I don't know every video card on this planet, also I haven't been using ATI video cards for last 6 years.

How do I do all those things you just said?

I'm having the same issue.

I installed on my laptop, it meets the minimum requirements.
Intel i5 CPU, Nvidia video card. I'm still going through some troubleshooting.
I know some games freak out if your CPU has hyperthreading enabled, so maybe that could be my issue? I'll try disabling that soon.
I can install on my desktop too and see how it goes there.

Needless to say, I'll post again if I manage to fix it on my laptop machine. Good luck to the rest of you.
