Irritated about play? or just about inability to save "that" name?

It may just be me, but I was a little disappointed this morning when i woke up and saw no email letting me in (my pre-order was later, so it wasnt too big of a deal, but it was what it was). The main thing that i was unhappy about is really just being able to save the name of one of my past MMO characters.

While some people may say that "your name must not be very unique if you need to log in early to reserve it," I say why does that matter to you who has your own name you want to name your character that you will be playing for many many hours/days into the future? Some of my character names are not that unique (the ones that are come from an ancient language so it means that i will have them pretty much without a fight), but I really have a few that interest me to play with certain race/faction/class implications for that particular name (i wont give names as that would be counterproductive).

I would like to be able to get in early enough to get my non "unique" names saved for my major characters, but that seems like it will fall to the wayside. The RPG element of this MMO may be substantial in the storytelling aspect, but Bioware doesnt seem to quite grasp how much a name means or they would have had a better system in place for such a thing (I cant think of a great way of doing it apart from some sort of service that allows for one name being saved per account for a specific server, maybe guild related, and even that may be very hard to code).

This is just the ramblings of someone who has been in MMOs for quite a few years and does enjoy the ability to look at a name and recognize all that goes with it (reference wise) whether it be subtle or in your face. Names mean more than people let on and I just wish there was some way to rectify this, but there doesnt seem to be. Oh well, I will still play that game and enjoy it, just probably will have to rely on a name different than I have been known for years on other MMO's. Thanks for reading if you did, if not, its all good, just felt like talking through my main issue with launch without trying to be too negative regarding a game that has the potential to be very good.

But surely if everyone was allowed to save their names early it would still be taken. Think of a new name, the same way someone else would have to if you reserved it first.

personally I've got a list of ten, what I hope to be, unused names. I knew full well even if I somehow got in day one, that my name would be taken lol.

I didn't get into early access; however, my friend did, so I got him to reserve the names I want for me. [They are pretty common names too]. I'd be peeved if the two names I wanted were taken, and there was nothing I could have done to prevent it.
