Hutt ball Exploint???

I dont know if this is an exploit, but i was just in a Hutt game when the opposing team got the ball. They proceeded to go toward the pit area and pass the ball to stealthy on the ledge. so we tried to cut them off but we could never find them bc they were in stealth. they did this through out the whole match. there were at least 3 stealth ppl on there team. is this just unfair or an exploit?

It's a tactic , the only way to deal with it is to control middle, to stop them even getting to passing range and with that those stealthers are useless, and are forced to die or run back, sure you'd have to stop any counters after you score but you need good assassins ( an operative could but gl getting anywhere fast).

sure i can understand but the idea of doing anything to stealth would completely kill an operative in Huttball and they barely have anything to hold onto currently. but the fact is it's a tactic it be illogical to sort that out since there is no issue.

You can't beat it with simple tactics, so you assume there will be a nerf. /facepalm

 

Okay so lets break down some tactics for you.

 

1. Search for the stealth on your goal ledge and kill/knock him off.

2. Overwhelm the enemy team and take the ball from them since you have superior numbers.

3. Have one person on the goal ledge as the enemy ball carrier approaches from the pit. Find out what general direction he is headed in and the stealther will be there, wait till last second knock off stealther and intercept ball.

4. Get a smart Powertech/Vanguard to play goalie.

5. Get the ball first and rush to enemy goal line with ball, this messes up their tactics greatly since the majority of their force is on your side of the map.

 

Do I need to go on, or is that enough counters?

well technically it wouldnt be an exploit but it could be nerfed too.

 

How could you nerf it? Put a time limit on stealth? Breaks class. Not allow stealth within 10m of warzone? Punishes players for using tactics. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the stealth thing since:

 

1. The stealthy has to come out of stealth to catch the ball.

2. Every class has an AoE (most of which use a targeting reticle) to bring enemies out of stealth.

3. Bounty Hunters and Troopers have an ability which only has one purpose, and that purpose is to reveal stealthed enemies. This ability uses a targeting reticle and lasts for 10 seconds on a 20 second cooldown.

 

So, there are several ways to counter this tactic, your team just has to be smart enough to use them.

It's not hard to flush out stealthers. You just need 1 player to patrol your endzone. However, as another poster said, if you control the middle, the strategy is busted. If you kill the ball carrier before he gets to the edge, the strat is useless.

 

Nothing about the strat needs a nerf. It's like a game of chess. (The Scholar's 4 move Checkmate comes to mind) You just need to practice counters to their strategy and force them to switch it up (or ultimately lose).

 

Keep in mind if you're just getting outplayed (eg they outgear you or happen to have a nasty healer that your team ignores... or maybe you hit bad luck and got a team of 8 Inquisitors/consulars) it might seem like the strategy is impossible to beat, but they'd probably beat you (albeit slower) with a more conventional strategy too.

they should nerf it by if you throw it to someone in stealth they will it will reset. just like when mauraders are in stealth they lose the ball.

is it really though? its not being out played. in order to be out played in chess all the peices are equal. this is not equal especially in a pug game.

If you throw to a guy in stealth he can't receive the ball. Generally speaking the stealther will leave stealth before the ball arrives though.

 

There's no point to look for the stealther. Just focus on killing the ball carrier before he gets into throwing range. Given the ball carrier is generally never able to do meaningful DPS, it's at least 8 on 6 (if one stealther) and you have to pretty far to be able to throw to a stealther, which should result in a comfortable win if the side is at all matched. If they can fight 6 on 8, you probably already lost the game anyway.

I do not believe you can catch the ball while stealthed. If you stealth while carrying the ball you drop it.

 

Yes the other team knows where the player is at and tosses it to them. Big deal.

 

I have stood against the wall as a Sorc and had people just run by as I pull the ball carrier across the line for a score.

 

You can't fix stupid.

No, it's not an exploit to use stealth to avoid detection.

 

It's the purpose of stealth.

I covered this in another thread earlier. It is by definition a exploit to do it. Not the kind that gets you a ban but it isn't intended.

 

Rofl, give it up man. If you are stealthed, you can not catch the ball. Period. End of story. You have to pop out of stealth to catch it. What you're basically saying is passing the ball is an exploit. That's retarded, you might as well say damaging a player until they die is an exploit.

Really if people have beef with this tactic, just say that, don't go and make yourself look ******* by screaming "EXPLOI(N)T!!!" at something as simple as passing the ball!
