The 5.10 Alliance Emails

So I noticed that after I finished Ossus the game made a point of showing us what all the important named Alliance members outsides your faction think of your choice, which was interesting. This seems to be an explanation for why you can summon them after Ossus. They tend to be either affirming loyalty to the Alliance or respectfully parting ways while leaving the door open to further collaboration. Does anyone have a list or a link to them all?

From what I remember:

Vette, Kaliyo, and Lokin claim to be sticking with the Alliance over the Empire.

Talos says he is rejoining the Empire, but that you can call him any time you like.

Yuun and Qyzen claim to be leaving an Empire aligned Alliance but offer to join forces if the circumstances arises.

T7 says he is loyal to the Republic and thus conflicted about what is happening.

Temple requests that you leave her name out of reports to the Republic and Empire.

Obviously dialogue is preferred, but it is 100% understandable why they went this route. I'm just glad we got some reaction out of our companions. It did seem weird when they were totally silent on the whole Iokath choice, so its good to see their reactions now.

Other reactions not posted by OP:

  • For an Empire-aligned Alliance, Jorgan says he is conflicted about going to war with the Republic. He promises to remain loyal to the Alliance, but he requests that your character never sends him into battle against Republic soldiers.
  • For an Empire-aligned Alliance, Rusk is essentially the same as Jorgan. He says that your character is the only Imp he ever liked, and that he'll stick with the Alliance, so long as you never turn him directly against other Republic soldiers.
  • For an Empire-aligned Alliance, Darth Hexid will send a message regarding Malora's choice to step down from the Dark Council. Humorously, Hexid's message is asking your character to pass along her resume to the Imperial leadership so that she might be considered as Malora's replacement.
  • For a Republic-aligned Alliance, Darth Hexid reinforces that she isn't offended by your character's choice to save Jedi. Instead, she only demands that any Ossus refugees joining the Alliance must stay far away from her quarters.
  • For an Empire-aligned Alliance, Master Ranos will note her reservations of you taking action against the Jedi on Ossus. However, she still contends that the Alliance is the best choice for her and that she won't be leaving.
  • For a Republic-aligned Alliance, Master Ranos claims that several of the Jedi that were rescued on Ossus were actually old friends of hers. She is grateful that you helped them and gave her the opportunity to reconnect.

As far as I can tell, these emails remove said companions from the story, but they are still available to summon as combat companions, and you can still send them on crafting missions. I did not check the Alliance war room on Odessen to see if those companions are still there. (Yuun, Talos Drellik, Qyzen, etc.)

I imagine Qyzen would stay with the Consular in any event since the Consular is the Scorekeeper's Herald.

Since they probably can't get all VAs to voice the companions its great they added a lot of companion mails, I was pleasantly surprised by getting a few explaining why some people chose to remain with me.

Actually i think this is a more effective way why pay the vas for one small scene. when you can do email. Also i know a few people who dont talk to every companion. What does Elara say?

In my search for more emails, I did see Quinn and Xalek's emails. Quinn says that he can no longer be the Imperial Liaison to the Alliance and that he cannot betray the Empire, but he will be willing to work with you in other endeavors.

Xalek says "You may still command me, but that may not always be so."

On my jedi knight that stayed aligned with the Republic, Talos was still in Oggorub's lab in the Odessen base despite his letter. So were Yuun, Lokin, and Qyzen in their proper places in the base, but they wrote that they were staying anyway. Z0-OM, HK-51, and HK-55 are dutifully outside my quarters in the base next to the underworld section as usual. Shae Viszla and Nico are in their usual spots as are Ranos and Hexid. Xalek, who warned me via email that I may not always command him, was still in the Jedi enclave teaching Force users along with Guss. I have no idea where Kaliyo, Vette, and Jorgan went though, but I'll be honest, its been so long since I completed KOTET and Traitor story that I'm not sure when those three disappeared from the base. They are still summonable, as is Talos, for what its worth. The main people in the war room seem to be Theron, T7, Senya, Arcann, Koth, and Lana. All six of the Star Fortress companions are right where they should be. Rusk is where he should be. I did not check outside the instanced part of the base under the domes for M1-4X so I'm not sure if it's moved. Skadge, I believe I locked him up on that character and the Dashade Akghal Usar I think I re-imprisoned him as well, on that character, so I don't see them. I can check on my other characters that I know I finished those two alerts on later. But even after I recruit Doc into the Alliance after JUS, he is nowhere in the base.

The presence of companions in the base or the ability to summon them has never been a clear indication of their role in the story. BioWare was never going to make them unsummonable given that you had to work through a mission for each of those companions. And they probably didn't find it necessary to update the base for something trivial like "who should be there" and "who shouldn't be there". In terms of story context, the Letters are the best indication of what actually happens to each companion.

Unless I'm misremembering, Vette, Jorgan and Kalyio have never appeared in the base.

My thought (or at least hope) was that there will be future content with the companions who sent you the emails. Perhaps their fates will become more clear later. Even the ones who left still say that they are willing to work with you on things that don't involve fighting their faction. I think that's supposed to be the explanation for why you can still summon them.

Full scale war hasn't officially broken out yet. Maybe we'll see more about what happens to them when 6.0 arrives?

Throughout most of KOTET, Vette stands near the table that is currently staffed by Theron and T7. Jorgan, when he is in the base, is in the war room, as is Kaliyo. I’ll have to grab a screenie or something. The inhabitants and where they stand does vary some throughout the story.

I know, but shouldn’t it? The makeup of the base, even the background chatter of the nameless NPCs changes based on your influence rank with your specialists. The sky of Odessen crackles with lightning if you were dark side when you took the throne but the skies are clear if you choose to heal the galaxy as peacekeeper. I can go through the phased door in the cantina to take the elevator up to my destroyed Throne room for communicating to the now destroyed Fleet. Bottom line is that they actually took the effort in subtle ways to maintain immersion elsewhere. If Talos says the Imperial Reclaimation Service has recalled him to the Empire and he has to go, then he shouldn’t be standing in my base. He could still move to the same section under the Companions and Contacts window like Doc, or Temple, or Elara, and still be summon-able, but not be in the base. It’s clearly not game breaking in any way, but it’s little things like that lack of attention to detail that, well, those things just add up to give the game a sense of being unfinished, or being understaffed, and the like. Then the romantic reunion of certain female LIs that I’ve experienced thus far (Nadia and Elara come to mind)... it all feels rushed. I’m actually pleased with the vast majority of Jedi Under Seige, but sometimes I just feel there is so many unmet opportunities, unachieved potentials.

Oh well.

The class companions that you recruited in the main chapters typically didn't show up in the base. Jorgan and Kaliyo only appeared once at the tail end of Chapter 13 after they had returned from the failed missions. As for Vette, Torian, and Gault, they similarly appear briefly in the Alliance base after you bust Saresh in chapter 2. Beyond that though, none of those companions stick around, which is unfortunate but I suppose it makes sense as characters like Jorgan and Kaliyo would be spending most of their time offworld their own stuff instead of sitting around on Odessen.

Are the messages (emails) from companion characters different depending on Empire vs. Republic? For example, if Rusk and T7's emails will change if a Jedi Knight joins the Empire.

In such a case there would be no emails from those characters. Aside from Lana, Theron, Temple, Ranos and Hexid, the only emails you get from old companions are from ones that used to be aligned with the opposite faction from you.

As the storyline goes, only Lana (and maybe Theron) would be aware of your character's decision to defect to the opposite faction. So in the case of a Jedi Knight joining the Empire, Rusk and T7 would be unaware of the Knight's double agent status. They would think the Knight is still supporting the Republic, and so they wouldn't send a concerned message.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well on my Jedi Knight Quinn said he is loyal to the Empire, even though he isn't even her companion because she sided with the Republic in Iokath. And she can now summon him. It's strange.

This also makes no sense for the Warrior who sides with Republic. I don't know if Quinn says the same thing or not, but on Iokath he professes that he's done with the Empire and only loyal to the Sith Warrior now. However, I have heard of people losing him anyway even though he made that statement to them on Iokath.

Qyzen says something about hunting worthy prey and he will be ready to fight along side your character. Not necessarily leaving you but I think just saying he doesn't feel like Jedi are worthy prey.

Theron will send a different message depending on how you handled Gnost Dural too.

Not really, because 'tis just a bug. I have dead or banished companions who I can summon, companions I cannot even though I should, my SW has an entry saying she reunited with Quinn although she did not and my JK was able to rekindle her romance with Doc even though she did not romance him in the first place, and that's only on characters I bothered to check. But since plethora of rapidly multiplying bugs seems to be the new normal for this game, I just cannot be arsed about it all. :D
