Well, I've played Galactic Star-fighter enough to give my two cents:

*Over all I like GS, but it does have some minor flaws.

*Why can't I alter/upgrade my ship while in Q? I feel that this is a silly rule that needs to be fixed. I'm not doing anything else but sitting there. Why make me hold up my team in-between matches?

*Can we map the 1-4 ship abilities to a different button? Or at the very least allow me to reassign then as I see fit? I play on a 47 inch TV & it is VERY difficult to look down at my keyboard to push a button & then back up to my TV in a type of game-play where every twitch and second counts. I get killed more often than I get kills when trying to use said abilities. I'd personally like to see them mapped to the scroll wheel.

Overall grade: A-

PS: When are getting Galactic pod racer?

1) This is done because the matchmaking system looks at how upgraded your ships are (as in how many tiers of upgrades you have purchased) and uses that to try to match you with similarly geared players. Upgrading components while in the queue would likely screw with that system.

2) As the person above me mentioned, you can change this under Preferences.

Learn from Jump to Lightspeed which remains the best ever ship combat sim for SW (not that I can play it anymore). Played this for 1 hour last week and was totally bored! Will not be playing again. Very few play and fully enjoy PVP due to bullying tactics and short game play and lack of roleplay potential.

Graphics are fine and ship handling fine but there needs to be much more content and improvement in order to interest me and my associates.

I've been trying to get into GS but it appears I can't just do it casually. You pretty much have to be hardcore if you're gonna ever win a match and I don't really know if I want to dedicate too much time learning space PvP. Everyone in my clan just upgraded to the Xbox One so my CoD time is about to increase again so unless there is a more casual and free roaming GS I think I'll choose to shelve GS just like I did with ground PvP. I'm not saying it's not fun but I'd have to put in some serious time to get good cause I'm just not a video game God, please make a PvE version for us "casuals" BW!!!!

If you solo queue you will follow the trend of your server and most likely lose 90% of the time if you're an Imp like me - however you may still be pretty high up in the "scoreboard" regardless.

That been said - this is actually quite casual friendly once you learn it. I typically don't play more than 2-3 matches a day but I do well enough and feel like a contributing and useful - though far from top of the line - player. Don't put yourself down man, it does take some getting used to, and especially if one has little or no prior experience with space combat/flight or space sims it can be very intimidating. But it will get better :)

Oh, one other thing I'd like to see...different game types. Everything is capture the base kinda deals -- like civil war. I'd like to see some escort missions...or defend a base form taking too much damage, just something different to make a little bit of variety is all. Edited by Lecto

I hope we get a new game type or two in Jan or Feb... I'd love to have a capital ship killing mission where strike fighters with their proton torpedoes (massive cap ship shields would make other missiles much less effective) would be instrumental... I'm a scout pilot myself primarily but I wouldn't mind doing some good old fashioned torpedo runs, like back in good old Wing Commander with my Broadsword and Longbow :D

A couple notes of feedback here, from a few posts I've read and one for myself that I feel is important.

First, I believe that our personal starships could be used in GSF, whether as a bomber (something we haven't seen yet) or a variation on the gunship. Likely more would play gunships if they could use their own fighter they received at level ~15.

Second, I'd actually like to be able to choose my co-pilot instead of just having to go with a droid that beeps and toots. I'm sure you have all the data there, but repairing one's star fighter is important and surely most go with the repair droid than actually having one of their preferred "common" speaking companions as co-pilot. I've yet to hear my favorite companions speak to me while flying, and this is quite a waste of your time and resource here making lines for them, if we can only use a droid for ship repair. We really should have the ability to repair our ship with any companion we choose.

I love the maps we have so far, and I'm excited for more playable zones in the future and what we will see upcoming with additional fighters.
