Jhanzee
Please don't be offended, I'm just a little perplexed at why the armor looks kind of bad for me in the game. http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/7666/swtorarmor.png Not crisp at all. I have a radeon hd 5900 which is a very good card, my settings are absolute max, I'm just thinking is this how it looks for everyone else? The armor looks a little blurry/etc.

SwordoftheStars
looks awesome, especially the washed out colours and low res textures, its the new "used" look Edited January 29, 2012 by SwordoftheStars

Sentanta
It is terrible - I have tried pretty much all classes at this stage and the gear for them all get so much worse towards the later game. My trooper (lvl 50) looked so much better when he was lvl 15 than he does now! I know they wanted to create something unique for the game but most of the designs of armour - weapons and vehicles in this game are just terrible! JackalTurner
As others have said, the gear viewer uses the lowest rez textures. To prove it preview one item, then hit preview again. It takes it off in the viewer and you instantly notice the texture difference on your gear. That being said, the gear isnt SPECTACULAROMGWTBBQ!!!!111!!1 when outside the viewer either, but its an MMO so thats expected.
AndroidDark
lol dang guys theyll fix the issue later on after all the high priority ones have been resolved, would you prefer that bug be fixed or a stable game that they can edit later on? i prefer the stable game right now
daMarek
As for your original question: Yes, it IS supposed to look like this [....] a feature that's working as intended [....] in reality, there was never supposed to be a 'Medium' choice - that was a bug. [....] your character in the game world is rendered using lower resolution textures than inside of cinematic conversation scenes. This was a deliberate decision by the development team. [....] In summary; yes, we had a small UI bug that unfortunately caused confusion over how the game is intended to work. [....] To be politically correct, full post is at http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=175553 Edited January 29, 2012 by daMarek

Apax
yes it looks much much better Not necessarily. All the high resolution texture in the world isn't going to save an outfit like this. Some art is just bad. How did things like this ever get approved for the game?

illgot
I've always been curious why games keep using the archaic dressing window. Games in the past have actually put the clothing on your character to view what it looks like. Then when you move your clothing resets to it's actual appearance. This gives a player a true representation of what the items look like and they can inspect the items by zooming in and out as they can any item actually worn. Talk about being a lemming on game design.
Illyean
its not just you though the item viewer for YOU shows lowest resolution (as they appear in game) for your companion they show medium resolution (as they appear in story scenes) there are no hi res textures because after promoting the games graphics and selling it they then turned them off because the engine cant render them!! the other issue is that a lot of (>80%) the items art is just bad, very bad. It really wont lok much better in medium res either, its just bad art. Empire side has better art but same resolution issue. its a totally unacceptable situation, BW must resolve this and do so promptly. a story based graphical game that attracts the 'the graphics are ****' comments, nothing to do with peoples PC's, is going to suffer
firesprite_ea
Armour design in this game is a complete failure. While we can kick korean tipe MMO for their grindiness etc, one thing they DO have is the design of the armours. check out some cloths types, IMO some of the most beautiful ones i have ever seen. http://aion.mmosite.com/guide/suit/asmodians_7.shtml http://aion.mmosite.com/guide/suit/elyos_29.shtml http://aion.mmosite.com/guide/suit/mastarius_cloth.shtml (epic!) http://aion.mmosite.com/guide/suit/common_3.shtml And so on. Listed only some cloth types but ... after Aion, the designs in this game urges me to gouge my own eyes to avoid seeing these crappy and horific models.
