ETA / FIX / SOLUTION for us collections completionist?

Holocron

Recommended Posts

So myself, and many other long term players who are still around have typically figured out ways to keep subbed and playing the game. One of those very important reasons to still play for many players is by getting to 100% completion on all the collections & achievements unlocks. Especially if you have done the whole alt hamster wheel and story arcs until your eyes bleed

So here is a short list of items that are keeping many players from that mythical 100%, and not through any fault of their own. Can you give some other avenue for acquisition (current or future) to players so they can finally complete their collections, or maybe remove them from the collections system entirely? I am listing some of the ones that are messed up, but there may be other players who can post some that they are having issues with.

PUBLIC TEST SERVER TITLES:

Title: The Cutting Edge

Title: Strike Team Specialist

Title: Strike Team Commander

Title: The First Line of Defense

These titles have not been available for years, and were only ever obtainable by participating on the Test Server. Now since the Devs have been utilizing players pretty regularly to test the various patches, could we please get a reinstatement of these titles again?

MOUNTS:

Royal Tauntaun Mount

Supposedly a new Twitch Prime promo, but it has never come to fruition. Is there any ETA on this mount? It's been in collections for almost a year.

UNOBTAINABLE PETS:

Cyberglow Mewvorr - Sold from VIP vendor, but does not unlock in collections like it is suppose to.

Juvenile Makarin Creeper - I guess this was suppose to be available for people who became a Champion for EA Answer HQ. However this program doesn't seem exist anymore (last updated 4 years ago), and there are no questions in the SWTOR section of the site to even attempt to gain that status to begin with.

LU-20 Builder Droid - Affiliate game that was never advertised and no longer exist to get the code.

N4-SW Droid - Affiliate game that was never advertised and no longer exist to get the code.

TR-U4 Astromech Droid - This was suppose to be released as a cartel coin card pet to EU retailers, but it appears that is never made it before cartel coin cards were stopped being sold altogether.

Juvenile Marsh Rancor - This was suppose to be released to the Wal-Mart cartel coin card back when all of the other rancor pets came out to the various cartel coin cards, but there was was mix up in pets and it never made to live before they stopped selling the cards.

COLOR CRYSTALS:

SE Black-Green Color Crystal

This was only available on select Razer game peripherals for SWTOR at the launch of the game. These items have not been for sale literally since the game has launched, and there is no avenue to source the code anymore. Can the devs please give us some avenue to get it, or remove it from collections?

If there are any collections or achievements that you feel need to be addressed, post them here. By the way Eric, do you know if there is any legitimate way to get to the Rancor (and get the title/achievement), that's locked up on Makeb? To this day, there doesn't seem to be a legit way to get the title without exploit.

I would rather propose all percentages be removed from achievements and collections. That would remove the "completionists" reason for complaining. Items and achievements are always being added to the game. Just because a player may have 100% today in a category doesn't mean it will be 100% later. I wish they would add extreme achievements that most people would never get more than a couple of (like: Killed 1,000,000 droids on Iokath).

Achievements should never be 100% complete. There should always be another tier to reach. As for exclusive items tied to promos, some people like them and met the requirements to obtain them.

I don't mind not having everything and I try very hard to complete things.

Thanks for this list, Holocron. This topic has been / is bothering me for years as well. I don't mind not being able to get certain collections items that were exclusive and I didn't neet the criteria. I just don't want to see them all the time. At least put all those special items to an own category, so that the rest can be 100% green.

There is also no logic behind this. Collections was originally made for the new cartel market. They have added some non-cartel items there, e. g. the HK-stuff, due to players' requests. But the test server titles? I don't understand it.

As for the missing pets: That's just laziness or a lack of overview of what they have in the collections. I don't understand how they are unable to notice that they have items in the collections that have never been available in the first place. Don't they have a database that tells them that 0 players have item X? I would expect such a system. But of course, I have no insights into this.

Yeah the non 100% stuff drives me crazy. As an aside, I kind of wish a lot of non-cartel armors/weapons etc were added to the collection system. Like all orange shell and purple "named" items from the old game. rty

PUBLIC TEST SERVER TITLES:

Title: The Cutting Edge

Title: Strike Team Specialist

Title: Strike Team Commander

Title: The First Line of Defense

This is something we have discussed a bit in the past. Our ability to track things that are earned via PTS and then grant them on live is honestly very complex and not a small task. However, there have been a lot of conversations internally lately about offering PTS incentives and so the interest in being able to earn these titles again is definitely noted.

MOUNTS:

Royal Tauntaun Mount

This is an item that was created with the possibility of using it as a part of a promotion that never happened. There are no locked plans for it ATM so there is no ETA, but it will come into the game at some point.

UNOBTAINABLE PETS:

Cyberglow Mewvorr - Sold from VIP vendor, but does not unlock in collections like it is suppose to.

The Mewvorr sounds like a bug, that has been sent to the team to be looked into. The Makarin I will look into... that might still be a part of the AHQ program. The rest I will investigate what our ability is to give these out, if they were a part of other promotional offers that may mean we are unable to offer them elsewhere. Let me dig into it.

This one is tricky on both sides. Similar to the above, since it is was tied to a promotion we may not be able to offer it to players through other avenues (I will check). Separately, we certainly wouldn't remove it from collections as there are players who do have the items from that promotion and we don't want to remove their ability to claim it.

That is the info I have at the moment on each of the topics you raised. I will do my best to filter out more information as I get it but just know that some of these will require quite a bit of digging across multiple teams so updates are not likely to be quick.

Thanks!

(The above concerns the Razer peripheral SE Black-Green Color Crystal.)

It occurs to me to question the "we may not be able to offer it to players through other avenues" part, given that something very similar to that happened with the Chiss Airspeeder mount that was offered through the NVidia Experience promotion and then later offered through a subscribed-on-date offer.

The AHQ program still exists following link is my Juvenile Makarin Creeper - https://imgur.com/a/ZTmdHsq

Anyone has the potential to be awarded Champion at AHQ in the swtor forum

How do I become a Champion?

Answer HQ users become eligible for Champion selection when they reach 100 posts on Answer HQ, and have been active with us on the community for over a month. Members of our Hero Program can then select who should be named a Champion, through co-optation. The purpose of the Champion program is to enable helpful members of our community in their endeavors to assist other players, and reward their efforts.

I believe those titles were only for beta PTS to test the game. But if that were true, I'm not sure why I wouldn't at least have the first one.

EDIT: Ah, nvm. I found this on Dulfy. Looks like the 1.x.

These titles are rewarded to characters on the live server for doing activities on the PTS. These titles might be one time exclusive and not obtainable in later PTS versions.

Title Acquisition

[name] the First Line of Defense

Obtained by characters who reach level 10 with a new character on the Public Test Server (PTS)

[name] the Cutting Edge

Obtained by characters who finish ACT I with a new character on the Public Test Server (PTS)

[name], Strike Team Specialist

Introduced on the PTS with patch 1.3, you must complete 4 flashpoints OR operations using the group finder in one day or complete 8 flashpoints/operations using the group finder within 7 days.

[name], Strike Team Commander

Introduced on the PTS with patch 1.3, you must complete 4 flashpoints AND operations using the group finder in one day or complete 8 flashpoints/operations using the group finder within 7 days.

The rest I will investigate what our ability is to give these out, if they were a part of other promotional offers that may mean we are unable to offer them elsewhere. Let me dig into it.

  • Yes, the Cyberglow Mewvorr is bugged and is not unlocking in Collections correctly, but it shows up correctly in the Abilities and Decorations list.
  • The LU-20 Builder and N4-SW Runner should have no legal restrictions, those were given to players from Lord of Ultima and Need for Speed World (both were EA F2P games that have since been shut down) so there was never any money involved. Sadly, those pets were only granted to players who created a new account. Even though I played both those games, I did not get the pets because I already had a SWTOR account when the promotion started.
The other battle droid pets from the EA F2P games were added to the friends referral program but the LU-20 and N4-SW are still missing. I fought for those pets a couple years ago and DS promised to look into it but nothing ever came out of it.
  • The Juvenile Makrin Creeper is awarded to AHQ Champions and like OwenBrooks wrote, is not unattainable, in fact I also have this pet myself. It was a lot of work to help players with tech issues in AHQ and be promoted to Champion rank, so I would feel oppressed if the pet is now given away for free. If a player wants to get the pet, he should put in the effort required to get it.
  • The TR-U4 Astromech Droid and Juvenile Marsh Rancor were to be granted from Cartel Coin cards but those never saw the light of day. You could just put them on the P-OA5 vendor in the Cartel Bazaar; that vendor was specifically put in for me after I complained that the FT-6 Pike and the Crested Orokeet were unobtainable.
The main difference is that for these two pets sold by the vendor, Customer Support mixed up the pets and some players tricked CS into granting them the pets even though they were never released. So instead of taking the pets away from those players, you opted to just give away the pets to everyone. To the best of my knowledge, no player has the TR-U4 or Juvenile Marsh Rancor so instead of giving away the pets, you could just remove them from Collections instead.
  • There are a couple more pets missing that Holocron didn't mention, probably because they don't show up in Collections but you can see them in the decoration list: D4-V3 Astromech Droid (from a cancelled promotion with Raptr), Flameshell Mewvorr (never showed up on the Cartel Market), MS-99 Perimeter Droid (never showed up on the Cartel Market), Savanna Manka Cat (never showed up on the Cartel Market), Technolith Remote Miniprobe (source says Iokath reputation vendor but that vendor is not selling it). There may be a few more unobtainable pets but if they show up in neither Collections nor in the decorations window, I guess it doesn't matter too much.

By the way, if you have any questions related to pets just shoot me a PM; I am an expert on those.

Thanks! As an owner and proud user of the Razer color crystals, I would hate to see these color crystals given away to everyone. While the peripherals themselves were garbage and broke after less than a year, they were very expensive and players that spent the money should be rewarded for it.

Also on the topic of Collections, I am unable to get to 100% Toys because I owned the Dueling Banner before Collections were added to the game, and unlike the other toys it did not automatically unlock when Collections were introduced.

This item is special in that it is an account-wide unlock so even if you get a second copy, you cannot unlock it again on another character or on another server; the item stays greyed out.

I already contacted Customer Service about it and they refuse to unlock it manually, meaning I will never be able to get 100% Toys even though I have collected all toys. Please ensure that the Duelling Banner correctly unlocks in Collections for players that already have it unlocked on their account.

Nope, there's no contradiction. When all those promotions happened during 1.X, they advertised them as "exclusive", so when players spend money to get an exclusive item, the devs are not allowed to bring it back some other way.

With the more recent promotions, the marketing people were very careful to not use the word "exclusive", so they are allowed to bring back those items. And for the NVidia Experience promotion specifically, that was just a random drawing with no purchase necessary IIRC, so it is not comparable to the promotions where you had to spend money.

I admire that you were able to do the EA program, but I bet you finished it at least a couple of years ago? It appears to be deadsville now for the most recent years, so for all intents and purposes, it is pretty unobtainable.
