DuckKing
Has there been any recent information regarding or when we can expect being able to duel in non-dueling areas? I'm kinda getting bored hitting dummy targets ya know lol. Dueling is one of the most needed activities in game to pass time. Right now we really only have space missions and well I really don't like doing those much and we currently don't have pazaak or Swoop racing yet. I imagine it can't be that difficult to implement dueling on the fleet or anywhere else? Edited August 24, 2012 by DuckKing
Valkirus
If they do allow it on the fleet, I would hope they would have the common sense to allow it only in a certain section of the Fleet...like make a new section you can access from the airlocks. Having it happen just anywhere on the fleet would be bad in my opinion. Would be a bit like allowing street fights inside malls.

People were civil enough to form a line during the Grand Acquisitions Race, correct? I doubt there would be much griefing roleplayers near the cantina going on and if so just put it in a certain section of the fleet like you said. Iron_Lord
Just open up Dueling on the Gav Daragon everywhere, there are never many players on that ship... (I have seen 2 or 3 on it passing through to the FP area) :-)

So no dueling on the fleet unless it is in a special instance.
DuckKing
-Sigh- Guess I'll continue conjuring up my own ideas on how to pass time and have fun which can only go on for so long before I get bored. So annoying that theres nothing to do... can't go fishing, can't Pazaak, no swoop racing and a very useless star cluster casino. Oh did I forget to mention we can't even sit in a chair? Guess this was all part of BioWare's plan "Oh, it's all just for art direction" ok.... Edited August 24, 2012 by DuckKing

I'd love to sit somewhere in the mutliple cantina's or at least be able to walk in and out of the Dark Council room or actually be able to sit with the other Dark Council members... ><

Insomnio
There is not much news, regarding any aspect of the game. They released a rehash trailer, and do not have any solid plans for the future of TOR. Guild Wars 2 is out soon. I was not really looking to get into another game, I usually play a single game at one time, but GW2 is starting to look a lot cooler especially since it was a game I never really considered. Its already F2P, whats the worst that could happen, it goes sub?

Urael
The fleet is more of a convenience for multiple reasons and it's more congested with level 50's for me to duel. All the more potential to summon the lag beast. You see when many players gather in an area the lag beast is just around the corner waiting for them to duel so it can pounce and drop everyones frame rate to zero. You can duel on the lower levels of the fleet. Go there. I don't need someone spamming me with duel invites when I'm at the GTN kiosk, thank you. Blackavaar
... then maybe they do need to look at getting a new engine. No, they don't. They just need to continue limiting dueling to dueling areas, like they already do. And they can't just get a new engine without having to rebuild the entire game from scratch, so get used to it. Kid? I'm probably older than you, bub. And BTW, dueling is already available on the lower levels of fleet (the Drommund Kaas / Coruscant shuttle bays and the Mission Departures area). There is no reason to add it to the connecting flagships or anywhere else.
Dev Post AllisonBerryman Posted August 28, 2012 Dev Post Share Posted August 28, 2012 (edited) I talked to Jesse Sky (Lead Flashpoints and Operations Designer) and Damion Schubert (Principal Lead Systems Designer) about duels in current non-dueling areas, and have some information for you! Currently, dueling is disabled in the main areas of the Fleets partially because it can have a negative impact on performance in those areas and partially because it can be an unwelcome distraction to other players. This is something we may be able to address in the future, and we appreciate your ideas, but changing it isn't something that will happen in the immediate future. So, cascading effects (boom > boom > bOOOm > lighing > BooMMM > BEAM etc) don't slow down server and don't distract players? Very interesting ... Just allocate a small PVP area in the Fleet around Combat Training and all will be happy. It is so hard? Edited August 28, 2012 by Glower
irishtim
Just allocate a small PVP area in the Fleet around Combat Training and all will be happy. It is so hard? The problem with putting it in the combat training area is that a lot of people hang around there and could slow the framerate of the area down if a lot of people duel there. I would suggest putting a 'duelling pit' on the Ziost Shadow/Rep equivalent. That way the duelling area is out of the way enough to not affect the main fleet population's performance, but is also only a 20 sec travel (with no loading screen) from the main area.
