Malleable
So which advance class has the best healing when not using the healing line? Scoundrel, commando, or consular? I was thinking of running a 4 person group without a dedicated healer, but having the group made up of classes that have some basic healing that they could all use when necessary. Does either of the three heal better than the other two? On some games I've had success with four HOTers. Thanks Mal
Gyronamics
Depends on the content. Vet mode, anything is fine as long as people are competent. Master mode... well it's going to be faceroll in some instances and horrible in others. There are some fights which require substantial healing on the tank and even more healing on a non tank. If no one is a tank or a healer it's going to be interesting because everyone ditching their dps to offheal is going to result in miserably bad dps. However the key points are: Commando has massive healing defensive cooldowns which makes them very strong while those cds are up. Scoundrel has HoTs but more scoundrels do not mean more HoT, will not stack. Sage does health bubbles but again cannot stack this with more sages, has the best resource pool for offhealing. I guess 2 commandos and 1 each of the others but if its VM it doesn't matter and if its MM it's going to be sketchy on some instances unless you're doing it for a challenge in which case gl. LD_Little_Dragon
Commando has massive healing defensive cooldowns which makes them very strong while those cds are up. Scoundrel has HoTs but more scoundrels do not mean more HoT, will not stack. correction: the scoundrel hots do stack, but the main point is is if scoundrels are off-healing (which can be pretty strong, especially in ruffian spec) they are NOT dps'ing. If you're running with 4 dps, then you want dps with the most self-healing abilities, not off-heals. Self-heals can usually be used without sacrificing too much dps. Even that is only good for veteran flashpoints though, and running 4 dps is a rather silly, overcomplicated, plan for most master flashpoints. Better to get used to field respecialization, so you can have 4 dps, with at least one that can switch to tank spec, and one that can switch to heal spec as needed. LD_Little_Dragon
Little Dragon, Can you explain why the Ruffian is a better off healer than a Scrapper? Thanks, Mal When a Ruffian rolls it procs an energy-free instant cast of kolto pack (the big heal that's normally an activated ability). Keeping the hots up on someone really hurts your dps, but being able to throw out an instant big heal is useful, and doesn't ruin your dps rotation. Malleable
Thanks much for that info. I'm strongly leaning toward ruffian. 1. Its better for AoE DPS. 2. It has more 30m ranged attacks (from what I'm told). 3. Better healing. Mal
Fellow-Canadian
Ruffian also gets a monster 30% crit buff to hots after point blank shot.

Rion_Starkiller
Agree. Ruffian ftw. The energy management is really easy too. Roll-heal to victory! Also take the Legendary utility that makes Surrender apply 2 stacks of Slow-Release medpac. Edited January 9, 2020 by Rion_Starkiller
JediQuaker
I'd have check in-game, but it seems to me that a Sage has the most healing skills while in a DPS spec. (Republic.)
Rion_Starkiller
For self heals, I agree that sage is better. All you really have is a hot and a bubble for other players. Hard casting Benevolence is terrible unless Mental Alacrity is up. Edited January 13, 2020 by Rion_Starkiller
Gyronamics
Eh... if you specify self healing then its obviously commando/merc, they facetank mild damage like players and most FP content not because of their damage reduction (which is reasonable but not impressive) but because they can yoyo their health bar back up repeatedly, giving them effective health which can be 4x what it seems to be. However most of it requires the enemy to assist in healing them. No enemies hitting you, no healing, something which has consequences in PVP and PVE if allies and enemies know or don't know that you're trying to bait some hits to generate heals. Eastiano
I hear aggressive treatment set heals from spinny robots aoe is good, pair that with kolto hots and ur dps will not have much downtime while sustaining decent off heals
