New Warzone Type: Imperial Citadel and Republic Senate

So I had an idea for a new warzone map that could be another step to the return of the Republic vs Empire theme. My idea for the new map would be one based around the Imperial Citadel and the Republic Senate both respectively on Dromund Kaas and Coruscant... or better said, it would be simulations of them.

The Empire players would get the Republic Senate map and play an assault simulation where they have to fight Republic simulations (just story wise, it would be Republic players of course) and the Republic players would be put there in a defensive simulation and fight Imperial simulations story wise. Of course vice versa Republic players would get an assault simulation in a Imperial Citadel map while Empire players would play a defensive simulation scenario there.

The map could be a combination of the Voidstar and Odessen, namely that you have to advance through to several rooms in either the Senate Building or Citadel and capture them. However, there are of course barricades placed along the route which you'd have to take out with explosives like on the Voidstar. When you have taken down a barricade however you need to capture the room much like in the Odessen warzone, so just blowing up the barricade wouldn't be enough. The defending team would of course seek to prevent the barricades from getting blown up or, if that defense failed, make sure the attackers don't capture the room. The goal would be to capture like the core room of the Republic Senate or the Imperial Citadel, which could be something like the Rotunda or Imperial Throne room for each map respectively.

While it wouldn't really take place on Dromund Kaas and Coruscant it could contribute to the feeling that both the Sith Empire and Galactic Republic are training their people for an eventual assault on each other's capital planets, aka strengthen the Sith vs Jedi, Republic vs Empire feeling that people seem to be craving.

So what do you people think? Would you like to see such a warzone centered around the Republic and Empire capitals and most prominent buildings? I'd love to fight in such a warzone even though storywise it would be a simulation of the capital planets.

Sounds like a fun mode.

I wonder if it could incorporate two turrets on defense for one of the rooms instead of a barrier to blow, like the ones in Collicoid. Defenders would have to man them and the gunners would be immune to physical effects/leaps like NPC turrets. Attackers could either go straight for the guns using limited cover or end-run and try to take out their power generators and overload the guns. Destroying both guns drops a shield over the path to the next chamber.

best idea for years here in the forums !

voted to excellent.

Thank you very much haha, it was just a thought I got during Dromund Kaas heroics and doing PVP battles inbetween how cool it would be if the Imperial Citadel and Republic Senate areas could be reused for a warzone. It could be a cool scenario and really cater to the "Go back to Republic vs Empire" supporters!

Sounds like a fun mode.

Oh I like this idea! The Collicoid Wargame thing with turrets was indeed a unique feature that could be incorporated into a warzone map, they did something with turrets in the Uprisings so maybe we could also see it in this map?

Sounds like it could be a great set of maps!!! I can think of a ton of various twists they could also work into this, but I love the concept and really like the Voidstar comparison.

Yeah they could incorporate a lot into the warzone or at least, make it really really interesting and cool! The Voidstar is a really cool warzone so I'd love to see something akin to it but in a newer version ^_^

You picked the right example...Voidstar is still to this day my favorite WZ ;)

Awesome idea for a PVP mode. Throw in some of the walkers and I'll be even more happy. :D

Attackers need to bring the VIP (the player in a walker) to the location in order to bomb the barricades and proceed to the next room. Defenders need to kill the VIP.

Defenders get those 'rocket launchers' giver things for the Uprisings to deal with the walkers? :o

yeah, slows the walker and gives it a debuff. Attackers can repair the walker with pickups, but it can't be healed with healing.

I absolutely adore to see the ideas people bring into this thread, I really am so excited now! The Walker idea is an amazing idea that would add a great feel to the entirety of the map and create something very unique. Also how epic would it be to ride a walker into the Senate Building or Imperial Citadel...

lol I wouldn't be sure if I'm in a pvp match or if Saresh is trying to put fourth some law no one likes. :o

What about NPC support to make it 'feel' like a war? Maybe have some new pick ups that summon either a Imperial or Republic Guardsmen that follows his/her summoner until It dies?

I adore this idea! It would really make it feel like an alive scenario, bring the feeling that it is an actual war zone. I think it would be unique as well as engaging!

This sounds like an amazing design. Love the extra ideas like walker which can be repaired/escorted and maybe summoning NPC swarms of temporary allies.

Or... we could even call in existing companions like Lana or Theron or others who are either Republic-aligned or Empire-aligned. Maybe Acina, or Cytherat, Satele... it could be a cool feature!

Well, those idea are interesting. Love the original concept, but the thing with walkers, turrets... A bit too similar with Iokath for me. ^^

Even if I'm not always an objective player (Dramatic, isn't it ? :o ) I think it would be fun to see this. New pvp decor which will bring back the old "Empire against Republic" thing is always appreciated. :rak_03:

I think companions would tip it too far, the healing spam would never end.

What about various side characters from the eight/planet stories? Like Thana (Sith/Taris)

Oh I didn't mean them as the actual companions we can have in PVE but more like adds you can spawn against the enemy. It might be too much though but some old and new side NPC's would serve the purpose nicely I think!

Sounds interesting for pvp players.

I'd hope so! It would be cool, nice and in theme with the yearning for the return of Empire vs Republic. Bioware could of course make it so that it's an actual assault on the capital planets but then that would have to be justified lorewise to as it's a fairly major thing to be attacking Coruscant or Dromund Kaas for either faction, hence why I suggested it to be simulations storywise.
