Rakghouls story arc?

Ive been doin this story arc on taris...and i was puzzled by all the talk bout a cure and stuff from the science team there. I started digging and figured out what bothered me. The doctors on taris say we can get a cure and blah this and blah that....but the plague is not a biological sickness.

It was *According to historical archives* is this...

Karness Muur created a device that would enable him to create rakghouls and to sustain his essence, granting him spiritual immortality. When his physical body died, the Talisman would seek out the most powerful Force user to act as his vessel and conduit.

uh...what gives? How could the scientists there find a cure for a er....for lack of a better term a magical disease?

Well, as The Phantom Menace taught us, the Force is apparently caused by germs living inside us all, so the Force is somewhat biological in nature it seems. All in all it's very incosistent as some force powers (Like telekinesis, enhanced reflexes etc.) can be explained by biology with a certain suspension of disbelief. Other things however, such as the Star Forge, the infinite Engine or some of the more ridiculous force powers can only be explained by, well basically magic.

I think it's a vaccine, not a cure, but regardless--

Rule #1 of Star Wars continuity: for all statements that can seem contradictory, there exists some contrivance or set of contrivances that explain it away.

This one is easy: the strain of the rakghoul disease that still exists on Taris has, in the generations since its introduction, become biological rather than magical in nature. This could be due to the positive force energies that have been healing the planet of its wounds or whatever.

Alternate: the viral agent that converts a sentient being into a rakghoul is infused with the force. That is, the disease attaches to and infiltrates cells as a normal virus would. It reproduces in the same way a virus does. However, the structural changes it makes on the genetic and physiological level is itself a force power. Thus, a normal anti-virus could stop the spread of the disease in the same way that one who kills people using the force may be slain by a blaster pistol.

In theory even the "Magical Disease" would have to have some sort of change on a creatures biology in order to make it change into a rackghoul.... And if it has some sort measurable biological effect there could in theory be a way to block that effect...

You could also throw in the theory that "Magic" is just a form of science that is not completely understood as of yet..

Hell, even the force has a measurable biological effect on the creatures that can use it (Thanks for the midichlorians Lucas [he said sarcastically])...

Infact....let's theorize that the rackghouls are born from the Amulet messing with the midichlorians in the force users blood.... this would explain why it seeks out the strongest force users each time... more midichlorians would make it easier to transform them theoretically....

So the cure would be to have some sort of midichlorian blocker...something that stops them from being in your blood stream until the "Magical virus either moved on or died from starvation leaving the subject clean.

That's not true.

The Force isn't caused by midi-chlorians, they just allow people to detect the Force and to tap into the power it provides.

Kinda surprised there's not been more lurky mentioning of Celest Morne and the Muur Talisman... especially since that thing seemed to be capable of not only creating rak's, but controling them as well... tho she'd be on ice right now...
