Deserter Lockout in 6.1.4

No, socialism means the overlords control everything, and the people suffer. Maybe that is the point, the more restrictive and controlling of behavior and choice over players 100% of the time reduces fun. It's really not hard to predict what has happened to participation and why.

I love video game forums, where, somehow, deserter timeouts for PvP == Socialism.

I could deal with all the unbalance, premade's in reg's, numbers farmers, ignoring objectives, etc, etc, etc. when I would at least get a point for the loss.

This is the behavior in Wzs that takes place that makes my case for keeping no rewards for losses in place.

Complacency, just accepting the loss because you're going to get rewarded anyways is a terrible way to approach the warzone, if this is the attitude then you don't deserve a reward.

So what can the player as an individual on a team change to win the WZ despite what the other 3 or 7 are doing?

Here is a scenario. On your team there is a player that abandons the objective and just the other team took it. 2 players are not doing anything except farming stats and 1 player stands around in stealth saying, "Y'all suck." and 1 player left the warzone so now you are shorthanded.

What do YOU do so you win the WZ?

The entire purpose of being on a team is to function as a team, not as an individual, this is where most people get it wrong and why other people form premades.

Well thanks a lot ChrisSchmidt, we are really glad to have ya

I have long enjoyed your videos. Recently, I remembered you to viewers of a stream I was also viewing. Several of the veterans knew of you and fondly remembered your videos. Hopefully you will make more Marauder videos and continue to play.

Regarding the above quoted text, I cannot agree. Perhaps you have not played in awhile. Between "number farmers" who care nothing for winning, premades, toxicity, and lack of map selection, PvP has been markedly worse since the introduction of this godawful policy. It punishes those who lose connection through no fault of their own and makes those stuck in warzones they do not enjoy resentful and bitter...which leads to more toxicity. I generally ignore the toxicity, and I rarely mention it, but sometimes it gets to be a bit much. It was not this way earlier in 2020.

You always seemed to solo queue, at least in your videos. Is this opinion of yours (regarding the deserter debuff) based upon experience, or principle? I would be less averse to it had it achieved the desired effect. It hasn't.

So you ignore the question. You stress that when a person loses THEY should make a harder effort but now you say it's a team event like one person can control what the other 7 do. So answer the question. When a person tries their hardest and the garbage on their team causes them to lose why doesn't that person deserve a point?

I didn't ignore your question, you ignored my answer. You seem intent on victimizing yourself.

You're just a volunteer.

Giving people participation trophies for being bad doesn't teach them that they have to work for what they want. It teaches them thats it's okay to put forth less effort and be subpar because they'll still be rewarded for their lack of effort. .

So you're now saying in this thread a person's effort DOESN'T matter. It's all about the team they are on which are 7 other PUGs that the player can't control. And if they are on a bad team but still give their best effort they should not get a reward?

If I do a story mode flashpoint and the 3 other players (who I can't control) wipe on the bosses, do I get a reward for trying my best? Is a rewarded expected for not killing the bosses?

If I do a raid and the other members aren't good enough to kill the bosses, do I get a reward for trying my best? I can't control my raid team.

If I'm trying to level my character but I can't kill a mob needed for a quest, should the game still give me XP and move my story along? I'm trying my best so why not?

In all of these situations the various posters on this thread are ALWAYS on the "instaloss" team which strikes me as odd. If the queues are so polarised that one team is significantly better from the start then surely you have a 50/50 chance to get on that winning team, so over time you'll get as many free wins as losses no?

What you want, what you're asking for (by you I mean the gist of this thread), is a literal participation medal because you tried your best.

There's no effort to quantify what your best is by the way. I've lost LOTS of games because some player who didn't know what they were doing "tried their best" to help me and messed up a cap.

PvP in this game is a group activity. I'd strongly recommend people trying to make groups when they play so they can better learn, understand and take advantage of active communications between team mates. I'd recommend learning to play your class so you understand the micro and macro actions you can take on each map. I'd recommend learning how the maps work so you can leverage your knowledge for wins.

I wouldn't recommend blaming literally everything else in the game for a loss and asking for a reward.

False comparisons. Unlike PvE, PvP is designed in a way, where in every match 50% of participants are going to lose no matter what. In PvE, if a boss/mob gets killed, 100% of players that killed it get their rewards. Some just may get better rewards, based on roll. Many PvP players want exactly the same. They want everyone to get rewarded, just those who won better than those who lost. This is even more fair than to decide the quality/quantity of rewards based on roll luck.
