Hi looking for an RP server and guild to join for Roleplay i prefer Sith Empire but i can play Republic as well. i am Casual roleplayer but i know how to roleplay hardcore if i have to. I want to have fun, I roleplayed on SWG, WoW (sucked btw) Secondlife. Myspace for a while. My best roleplay was definatly SWG and i am hoping i can get into a good guild/server that Rps and has fun. If anyone would like me or have questions for me, leave a reply or send me a mail. I will check this thread often hoping i can get a bite :)

I'm on Sanctum of the Exalted and I think it's great. You really can't count on folks saying "I hate my server" because most folks *leave* if they hate their server, so getting an unbiased opinion is pretty unlikely...

Having said that...

Sanctum is great! It's great because there's a good community of people that are focused on cooperating to make Sanctum a nice place to play.

To wit:

We have many guilds that fit a wide diversity of playstyles. Big and small, RP and no-RP, Imp and Rep (or both). The GLs are also in cahoots. We seek out other GLs and communicate about ways we can maintain our server.

We have lots of volunteers who've done a lot of altruistic work to create fun events and resources for other players.

We have our own server forums http://www.sanctumoftheexalted.com

We have our own Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/359245180777088/

We have a swoop racing league http://www.galacticswoop.com

We have lots of server wide events: http://swtor-rp.com/sanctum/

We have t-shirts http://www.cafepress.com/scorpienne/8383874

We even have a soundtrack! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9f3MK-hiKa8

We keep up IC and OC galaxy-wide channels.

Republicnet is the Republic IC channel, and Republicooc is the Republic OOC channel. These are server-wide. Imperialnet and Imperialooc are the Imperial equivalents. They’re generally quiet, until someone starts RPing and then a lot of folks chime in.

We have “enough” people that there’s always someone around. At peak hours, we range from 450-650 people on the server, and our Republic to Imperial ratio is very even. (Survey here so you can see how the numbers were calculated http://www.thethirteenthlegion.torportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=433241&TabID=3813820)

Don't believe me, though, I'm biased.

Take the Ideal Guild Quiz and set your server as "Sanctum" to see what guilds fit your playstyle: http://www.tortoolbox/quiz

Do a little homework to see what fits your needs and playstyle best! I'd love to know what server you finally choose and *why* you chose it.

Ebon Hawk almost ALWAYS has Empire-side RP happening on the fleet, even at like.. 4 in the morning sometimes. Republic doesn't -seem- as prolific, but that's just because I've not been on my pub character lately and miss it.

*Quick high five*

*high five!*

More gushing about Vrook Lamar:

There's pretty much always RP on the fleet here, as well. I love that whenever I wander by the cantina, I can just walk up and join some of the regulars at the bar. Even though I haven't met certain characters IC, I just know their names from seeing them around so frequently. There is also cross-faction RP every Saturday nights in the cantina on Nar Shaddaa.

Now, forewarning, RP can get scarce when off-peak hours, but as quixx has said, there is normally RP at the Fleet Cantina, and when it's there, it's normally very much very good RP, or at the Dromund Kaas Cantina. And there is a cross-faction Cantina night, and I am in the works of creating faction-specific cantina nights on Coruscant and Dromund Kaas respectively.

Awesome! I'd love to find more places for RP outside of Fleet/Nar Shaddaa

I encounter very little role play on Rubat Crystal Republic side. However, for the most part i don't go looking for it, so I might just be missing it.

I can vouch for this. The better half and myself started over on Lord Adrass. The Republic RP environment between the two servers was like night and day. If you aren't bumping into some sort of RP on Lord Adrass, you are either alone in an instance or hiding out inside of a space slug inside of an asteroid.

Quite true, I've run into random RP in rather out of the way places on Lord Adraas. One of the trooper guilds was doing a Tatooine sweep one night. Clearing out sand people from a village, was fun to watch them just enjoy their maneuvers.

If there is RP on Ebon Hawk I'm missing it. I have my character to level 32 already and never once had the chance to interact with anyone in character. the GC is always OOC and I've reached the point where its just not worth the effort to create a history/profile or even try to spark up a scene with a stranger. None of the cantinas I've visited have ever had people RPing in character - once where were a couple of people dancing - is that really RP? Any time I get into the mind of my character and attempt to interact it always ends badly. I'm sorta feeling that RP is just dead to the point that its just pointless to try.

We have had different experiences. Perhaps you should try striking up some Rp with folks... those dancers sound like candidates.

Like Darth Slaine, I also have had a very different experience than you did on The Ebon Hawk.

Have you joined the OOC channel--I know you don't want OOC, necessarily, but that's where we coordinate random RP--? Another tactic is to check out ebon-hawk.com, where many folks post their RP events, backstories, forum RP, etc. Folks use the shoutbox there to advertise as well, so it's easy to find.

Basically, if you start by going to regularly scheduled events and join the OOC channel, then you'll come to recognize the RPers by character name. Which makes it easier to identify who would be responsive to RP overtures and also make it more comfortable to invite others to RP via the channel or forum website (the help wanted ads there can offer a good segue too!)--also the penpal thread and bounty boards on this site could be helpful. Regularly scheduled RP happens Saturdays in the Slippery Slopes (the x-faction RP), Wednesday nights in Fleet (Republic side).

I have randomly bumped into RP, I have coordinated it through whispered invites, and I have asked for and responded to requests for it in OOC. All anyone has to do is say "hey, I'll be at x for RP", and usually someone shows!

If you want to be IC all the time, I think it would work, but you'd maybe need to get to know the RPers a bit more to make it functional . . . . Maybe also look for a heavy RP guild!

Aside from obvious chumps on EH, many non-self-professed RPers are at least open and interested in trying it there.

I think what's maybe important to say is that it seems to me, on The Ebon-Hawk, you have to signify RP time: ask for it, claim it, make it, etc. You'll usually always have someone join in or express interest, but it's not really a server where RP hits you in the face--it's consensual, I suppose (that may be the best way to put it). If you express interest to someone and they do too, then RP happens! If you don't express interest, you might not see it . . . . if that doesn't sound workable to you, then I guess you might not like The Ebon Hawk.

I'm on Vrook Lamar, and it's a great RP community! I'm very happy with the guild and RP friends I've found on this server. It really feels like I lucked out.

Same here! I love that server!

Good folks, and good RP.

If you're looking for an EU RP server I'd definitely say Trask Ulgo. There is not too much random RP, but the guild RP is definitely some high quality.

We don't have a "Stormwind Cathedral Square" or "Silvermoon Bazaar" but we do have a couple of places where you'll be able to find people RPing :)

Otherwise, join a guild! You will find RP instantly.

I was on LA, but too many people hanging out in cantinas wanting cyber or other garbage.. freaky stuff. Moved to Sanctum. Nice folks, but not run into much RP yet.

Yeap. Sanctum has lots of guild oriented RP (becuase the largest pre-launch RP guilds got placed here), but the inter-guild and non-guild RP is starting to pick up. More and more people are coming to the point that they have more time to spend on RP then just "game stuff".
