"Ionic Accelerator now requires Plasma Cell to trigger. The chance to trigger this effect has been increased significantly but cannot trigger more than once every 6 seconds."

At first it seems great, "yay, 1 ammo generation each 6 secs" more consistent damage! Yet wanna know exactly how much the stockstrike and Ion burst is getting "Buffed"

Stockstrike: 60%

Ion Burst: 45%

Remember also that you will still need to fish for procs AFTER the cd is up. Meaning a longterm avergae of about 1 ammo cell each 10 secs!!! Compare that to the Current amount of attacks expected to proc High Impact Bolt = 3 attacks, meaning Right now you get to gain ammo every 4.5 secs. Bioware just doubled our ammo management problems!

Add to this that the RNG (Luck) "fun" factor is destroyed. If patch goes life, if you happen to be lucky and get multiple procs You will not benefit! yet you can still be terribly un-lucky and get 0 procs!!!!

Key abilities that proc with an internal cooldown are inherently clunky. There's a reason why Blizzard devs got rid of them. Get rid of the cooldown or get rid of the proc. They should simply have IA reduce the cooldown and/or cost of HIB by a fixed amount or something.

The ONLY thing I do not like is that it can proc while HIB is currently usable.

This is bad because if it procs on your first attach before you use HIB, then you cannot start trying to get a reset for 6 seconds. Whereas, if it could only proc when HIB was on CD, then you could ion pulse first to set them on fire, then HIB, then stockstrike, then HIB again.

Basically, it will force us to take our chances with the proc at the start of the fight. Do you use ion pulse to set them on fire and save 1 ammo, or do you use incendiary round and spend more to be sure not to waste the proc?

Possible Fix: just make it so the proc can only happen while HIB is on cd.

So basically you don't have a problem with the ammo management been twice as hard now? You don't care that you will be spamming auto attack as much as Commandos without the dmg bonus of the assault canon?

Actually Arms still uses rend to proc Taste For Blood to use overpower with an icd of 5 seconds.

Different proc mechanic, but still an internal cooldown all the same. And one you could time almost perfectly if you payed attention.

Ionic accel procing over an already cooled down bolt is just another reason for the idiotic ammo cost on incendiary missile to drop as well as the assault snare needing a decouple from plasma cell.

If one of their goals is to make full specs more viable and this assault change goes through then they should make plastique free. Burnout stinks too but thats kind of an unrelated issue for heat management.

It would seem they just want PTs to roll tanks and dont PvP.... :(

AP got a tiny Buff that still doesnt make it compete with either juggernauts, marauder nor assassins.

Pyrotech Gets the extra-heavy size nerf hammer (Doubling our heat management issues).

We dont have a viable dps spec for either PvE, OR PvP now.

6 seconds is a little long but the sky is not falling....I will still be able to pop my CDs and crap all over almost anyone. Our burst potential will be at about the same place it is now….we just won't be able to burst indefinitly with a lucky string of procs.

You don't gain ammo every 4.5 seconds now. You're substantially overestimating the number of HIB procs you get.

In a 15 second period going all out, the average number of procs is ~2.5 or 1 every 6 seconds.

The real problems have been identified by other posters above, and it's the rewriting of the proc and the inability to use Ion Pulse if trying to carry a proc past 6 seconds for burst or to open. This has a massive negative impact on our ability to burst, to pressure, and on survivability as kiting and staying at range is where we get our survivability. Another issue that comes up with this change due to the mechanic of the reset is that Assault has gone from having the best target swap capability of Vanguard specs to the worst.

Tactics will in all likelyhood have stronger burst, stronger pressure, stronger AoE, and stronger ammo regen. Assault will still have a ranged edge, but without the ability to go for a high probability double HIB, it's burst is butchered.
