I have to ask here because I've been gone a few years. I want to progress in the top tier ops and am looking to tank. The jedi/sith toons don't really appeal to me. Am I gonna struggle finding a raid group as vanguard shield specialist? Or is it still viable in the top end ops? Really been struggling this weekend since I'm a couple hundred miles away from my comp.

Vanguard/PT is completely viable for all current endgame-content with just one exception: The last 30 seconds in Brontes NiM. I'll suggest to start praising rngesus.

So vanguard basically swapped with shadow from 3 years ago?

 

Able to do everything except the random chance in a choice encounter that 1 shots you?

 

Vanguard is definitely my favorite tank spec I just didn't want to disadvantage my teams by choosing one that just gets mauled by bosses vs other tanks.

Shadow is still the most survivable and cheeseable tank class but all 3 are viable in the right hands.

 

I play guardians for example because it's the class that appeals to me.
