I'm waiting until Disney gets around to green-lighting someone setting up a private server. Preferably one that ends with SoR.

That will never happen while ever the game is live and probably not even when it’s been taken off line. EA/Bioware own the game, not Disney.
All Disney does is give them the licence to use the IP and take some royalties. Even when the licence runs out, ownership doesn’t revert to Disney.
Yes, they can pull the licence and EA would have to turn off the servers (maybe, I’m a bit unsure about that). Disney could only approve a private server if they were to buy the game off EA. Even then, Disney would be unlikely to do it.

Honestly, I'm not sure which way would be better: more/always on or less often, but I lean toward less often.

Right now, whenever the Gree or Rakghoul events come up, I think to myself, "Oh no not again." I hit the reputation cap on both a long time ago, and got everything I wanted from the vendors too. So the only reason for me to go into these areas is to do the bosses, and honestly I do them more out of a sense of obligation not because I truly want to do them or enjoy the fights; when my guild calls I usually answer. But if they were to happen less frequently, they might be more of an "event". Maybe the Rakghouls could be a three event twice a year: one week for each planet.

Bounty week, I could care less about. It never got my interest. I've tried it a few times and felt "meh."

Life day is fine how it is - a month long event during the holiday season.

Nightlife should probably happen more frequently, but be shorter duration.

And lastly Double XP. I agree that the double XP events do bring out more players. However, my fear is that if this were made permanent players would eventually get used to it and demand a new "double XP event"

Is that really the problem, or is it the rate of unassembled component gain? Disintegrating a 248 piece yields like 10 UCs, and the cheapest 248 piece is 525 UCs plus the 242 shell. If you were unlucky and, for example, never got the 236 mainhand way back in tier 2 and also never got the 242 MH in tier 3 (both perfectly likely and common outcomes), it would cost you 1935 UCs to get your 248 mainhand. I have 11 rank 300 toons out of 16 and I lacked the 236 and 242 mainhand in at least 4 of them, so about 25% of all my toons. You can get about one tier 4 crate per GSF match, usually, if you have enough medals even from a loss. So, roughly one losing GSF match gets you one crate and 4 UCs. Even if every crate you opened got you a 248 piece, which we all know it doesn't, that would still be only 14 UCs, on average, per match. I'd imagine an unranked solo-queue warzone loss is probably similar. That means somewhere on the order of 138 matches. Now, I don't know exactly what the drop rate is for a 248 mainhand. I don't think its quite as low as 0.7%, but it doesn't feel like its more than 10%.

I feel like even without double cxp we get crates to drop at a decent enough rate. It's really a question of, are the supplemental routes of gearing adequate? I don't have a huge problem getting crates because I do just about every type of content.

And what people don’t realise is the increases they gave us for UC was all smoke and mirrors because they then doubled the cost of the gear. They gave with one hand and took it away with the other. This smoke and mirrors approach is their basic operating procedure, they have done it for many years.
I’m still constantly amazed at the community for not realising it when it happens and the accepting of it like it was a gift. And dont get me started about the white knights that get on and shout you down if you try and point it out.
People need to wake up, when it looks like Bioware are fixing something they obviously don’t want to, everyone should be looking for what they are taking away. If it seems too good, they are probably pulling their smoke and mirrors trick.

Bounty Week: the traffic is mostly in the bazaar. Not many do it anyway except that first Tuesday....
Gree Event: One of my favorites. Traffic is on Ilum in its own area. Not many do it anymore. The guilds can manage their own participation accordingly.
Nar Shadaa Night Life: Has its own casino area. Chat would die down after the first few weeks. Be kinda cool to have quests that go through there and real people are playing.

Rakghoul Event: This one you probably need to rotate like it is. Too many players would freak about the plague.
Life Day Event: see Rakghoul above but replace plague with snowballs.
Double XP - I would absolutely agree, this needs to be done. As others have commented, this pretty much benefits alts. I am willing to conceed something like the legacy unlock where the double expires once you hit 300 on a toon, but this would make the grind less onerous.

Bounty - Maxed rep out ages ago. Haven't had the interest to achievement grind the bosses.

Gree- Maxed rep after my second event. Ground out enough to get the helix for decorations. Now just do the start mission for the cheap cxp.

Nar Shadda - I will run it on a new toon since you get free tokens. I will run it to get the free chips on alts since you can spot the cheat in about 3 minutes. Other than that I doubt I will do it again. It's a credit sink.

Rak event - suffered through it to max my rep. Now I make a point to avoid the fleet and infected planets while it runs.

So basically the only one I really would benefit from would be the xp bonus. If enough people would be happy then sure, but it doesn't do much for me.

If you are looking to maximize old content, why not run some of the older one off stuff like the Chevin or enable some of the now disabled quests. Something like an achievement hunter quest or galactic tour.

I'm not sure it would save the game from the, at least perceived, downward spiral, but it would at least forestall things a bit

Well, I think Galactic Command gearing as regards the crates or CXP gain is in a significantly better place than a year ago, but as I alluded above, one need to participate in lots of content areas (ops, FPs, solo stuff, GSF, PVP, conquest) to maximize your gains. The trouble is, in my view, UCs. Disintegration needs to yield more (especially at high ranks), or pvp content/MM ops need to yield more, or in reality, both.

I don't view this as an unsolvable problem or grounds to dismiss GC entirely. I wish some of this had been thought of when the system was being designed so we would not have had to beta-test the system for a year, but that horse is long gone from the barn. I can understand a loose philosophy on the part of the devs of, "We think that players who engage in all of the content the game has to offer should have the best gear acquisition pace." But that is not a reason to penalize strict pvp'ers or strict ops players with such a low UC rate.

I support the idea that events should no longer be events...but instead be normal game features.

This game tries to create rarity in almost everything, and ends up restricting content that could foster some sub loyalty.

It is time to make these events permanent...you can change the location of the outbreak periodically.

They ALSO need to add a planetary war event, where factional NPCs (and players in PVP mode) invade certain planets at specific periods...all but the starter and capital planets. They should announce server wide when an invasion occurs, and folks can choose to remain PVE or switch to a PVP mode so they can battle other players.

As far as double XP, they simply need to add a consumable in the Cartel Market. 100 percent XP boost, 3 hours per consumable, 360 CC each....or they could allow the boosts to stack, up to 4, up to 100 percent...and do the same for CXP boosts.

This way you could have your own double CXP/XP event when you want if you lay out enough coin.

Double the cxp would be nice, but I am afraid that they would just reduce the drop rate on legendary gear and grade 10 mats to compensate for the change.

The real issue for me is that the drop rate is too low, and it still makes the whole cxp thing a grind, and so I would prefer that they fix the system to give us more of what we need/want and less junk. For example, I don't need 4 sets of bracers before I get a single piece for my chest, or legs, or I get the relic that I am missing, or the ear piece, or implant, or whatever.

This system continues to be frustrating because I so seldom get something that I can use. It has never felt rewarding to me, and has only ever felt like a grind.
