Trooper Build Recommendations?

I am a fully geared BM Super Commando Vanguard but ever since 1.3 "Ironfist" had been nerfed. I am now stuck with Tank PvP gear but BioWare said they could refund me so I could buy some Combat-Tech gear or Eliminator. I was just wondering if anyone cold show me some builds for Vanguard tank post-1.3 and/or some DPS builds if I decide to change. Also, should I just commit to Combat-Tech or should I stay at a Tank build. All help would be appreciated and I also need help on the last quest to defeat Rakton's elites. My in-game name is Gabendo, just send me a mail message, also if you want to PvP.

I have a couple things to throw at you.

1. You ran Iron Fist before 1.3 correct? If so, why do you have the supercommando gear? Per Taugrim and pretty much everyone else that ran that spec, Iron Fist didn't call for supercommando gear. It was built around Combat Tech.

2. I was in the same situation because I also ran iron fist. However, I was in full WH combat tech gear. I decided to run AS so I sent an in game request in to see if they would refund some of the coms so I can get the 4 piece set bonus in elliminator. How did you manage to get the m to agree to refund your gear?

To answer your question, both dps trees are viable at this point. These forums are flooded with the different builds so it shouldn't be hard to find that. The only way that I would run in shield is if my guild needed the tank in ranked warzones. Otherwise, it wouldn't be worth it.

Thanks, the reason I had super-commando is because I would try to be the tank for my guild's PvP team and the build worked better than others with it. Also, I sent a ticket and they refunded my gear about 5 days later but apparently a common rule is that you can only refund 3 pieces per 6 months. I only had 4 pieces out of my whole set refunded.

If you're looking for vanguard dps, I think this is a really good Assault Specialist build:

By the way, this is the rotation I pretty much use with this build:

Rotation

1. Incendiary Round

2. High Impact Bolt

3. If you're more than 10m away, Sticky Grenade otherwise Ion Pulse

4. Once you're less than 4m, Stock Strike

5. If you procced Ionic Accelerator then High Impact Bolt

6. Ion Pulse until you proc Ionic Accelerator (reset High Impact Bolt)

7. If you get a cooldown reset on High Impact Bolt, use it

8. If you are at less than 7 ammo, use Hammer Shot otherwise repeat 4 - 7

What do you like to do? Unfortunately, tank's plus dps gear are a think of the past, unless you are a juggernaut/guardian. If you want to dps than switch to Tactics or pyro based on what playstyle you enjoy more. There are some threads at the top that can help you. If you want to stay tank, than you have to take tank gear, and realish getting beat on while slowing, taunting, and hassling.

This is what I also mostly like, except slightly different spec with Gut instead in a pvp/hybrid build and still do really good damage.

I think you don't have to give up too much damage and be able to spec for far more survival and group 'tank'. IMO you should be a fulfilling tank in PvP no matter what your spec.

You'll find all tanks can also spam neural jolt and sonic round, and the interrupt without loss of ammo in between all attacks (when appropriate). You don't have to always use Guard to do effective tanking.

As mentioned there several builds available for 'alternate' tanking roles. There is lots of room to fit a role in between shield tank and dps while being effective in reducing damage of many enemies 'at the right time'. In all, I think you can still do A LOT of good tanking without any Shield spec (neuarl jolt, sonic round, interrupt, cyro, even Static Field can be useful with a spec combined with Ion Pulse as a reliable hitter (elemental) in a hybrid spec.

Umm, what? Juggernaut/Guardian tanks do the lowest damage of the three tank specs in the game; they are useless in DPS gear. A Focus Guardian in Soresu form isn't a tank, no more so than a full Tactics Vanguard with Ion Cell.

Yojack has a good max damage Vangaurd spec on his thread.

I would have to disagree, just saw 2 BH in the last WZ have 300k+ damage and 50k+ protection ea., meaning they were setup as some sort of hybrid.... Not only did they put out huge amounts of damage they could guard their healers, not to mention being they can wear heavy armor and use their tank stance which gives you 60% buff to armor, they were harder then hell to kill...

Given Troopers are a Mirror of the Bounty Hunter you should be able to make a similar setup... So there is a FOTM hybrid build somewhere in those trees....

It's not difficult to get over 300k damage in full tank spec + Supercommando gear, all you have to do is maximize AoE damage with Sticky Grenade, Mortar Volley, and Pulse Cannon.
