Did anyone else find master syo way easier than councillor saiak? He seems to do way less damage and only has 1 ability worth interrupting that has a long cast time and he doesn't even heal.

i can't even get close to killing syo. he spams knockback, and annihilates me with turbulence and disturbance.

how on earth do i beat this guy as a shadow?

Syo is just impossible as an infiltration shadow.

I'd have to respec to kinetic in order to stand a chance at soloing this.

I'll just have to wait til tomorrow when some guildies are on.

I did it at level 48 as infiltration/upheaval pvp spec with Tehran. Just follow my instructions as per above.

If you hug the walls of that rock, he has no line of sight. You get the cannot see target bug, but so does he. You just need to spam project as you run past him, and it will cast most of the time.

after trying many times, I only employed this tactic after he casts syo's will (when he gets under 70% health).

Be sure to interrupt his cave or cavern spell because that is instakill

I did this as 49 kinetic with Nadia dpsing. I had to time everything perfectly to interrupt, keep my health up, and dps him down. Wiped 3 times (never wiped more than 1-2 times on other bosses) , but i had great gear for myself and Nadia.

Force Stun, Force Wave, Mind Snap, Spinning Kick (if kinetic) Use Resiliance when you're going to miss an interrupt.

Fight isn't that hard, one shot it at 47 granted I am kinetic but I could have done it with infiltration I'm sure.

Soloed last night as a 47 full infiltration spec. Second try (first try was 8%, ffffuuuu)

LoSed on the rock when I got low, but timing Tharan's Holiday with your stuns, etc. He isn't that bad even at 47.

Gear and stims made a pretty big difference for me. Use your first healing stim early.

Hello there!

We ask that story discussions outside of the Spoilers forum be wrapped in spoiler tags. You may do this by putting

at the beginning of your text and

at the end! Your result will look like this:

this is an example of hidden text with spoiler tags!

We also ask you to please refrain from putting spoilers in thread titles, as these can be easily seen by everyone. For this reason, we have edited this thread's title, and will be editing individual posts to put spoiler tags in them.

Thanks everyone!

I cannot beat this fool, no matter what! I'm lvl 48 sage, reasonably well-geared, as are most of my companions, but I usually use either Iresso or Theran for pretty much everything. I have been beating my head against the wall for the past 3 days trying to beat Saiak, and seem to be doing worse as I go!

As in most boss fights I found interrupts to be key. Use whatever breaks you can get from stuns to heal up, interupt all you can (in particular the cave-in at low health, as it *will* kill you) and take him down. Don't need any LOS tricks or kiting as a kinetic.

Same goes for the previous boss which I found hardet. Needed more interupts there...

I did this with my Shadow Arahael this morning at level 46, he is full tank on the tree and has Biochem but wears a mix of resolve and force wielder, and has 102%acc. i used Tharan after trying with Nadia and Iresso. After 3 tries we succeeded, and it was (i feel) because i had Tharan's Interrupts on Manual and had learnt to ignore and take the damage of some of his early casts, the important and only one you need to worry properly about is the Cavern Collapse one, which can be interupted, if the cavern starts to shake watch out for it. Tharan can heal you thro the rest if you are both well geared(ish). also i maneuvered the boss towards the hatch entrance as it impaired his mobility. Halfway through the fight i was at a third health and worried, and he Force Lifted me and attacked Tharan, who had my Guard on, so he took liitle damage and i healed rapidly to full health while i was lifted and then re-taunted him. I like to think his conscience got the better of him!!! heh. Lastly a ledge to your left as you go into the cavern proper at eye level is standable, and i kept him there. it was a tough fight and its meant to be and after i was frazzled!! but it is doable. Good luck and may the Force be with you Edited by NebulaPaladin

This fight is a cake walk, at least it was on my Kinetic. As with every boss fight in the Consular storyline you must must must interrupt their main spell or you will die. Besides the cavern collapse he throws at you he's pretty much a pushover. I don't think I got below 3/4 health at any point in the fight basically just running around spamming project, force breach, and slow time, with a few tks in there when my stacks were full. Theran healing me and between Holiday and my own stuns/interrupts, he went down fairly quickly. I have a pretty high shield chance and keeping kinetic ward up I was able to pretty much just tank all of his projects and disturbances. I swear Consular has the easiest boss fights of any class story. Kind of underwhelming when you think about it, these are supposed to all powerful Jedi/Sith you face and you pretty much faceroll them if you just know what casts to interrupt.

Again, I dawdled and dinked around, so I was Level 50 and in a full set of Elite War Hero. Tharan was in full Rakata gear.

Took Tharan more for story reasons than his heals. After all, he is nowhere near as shallow, risk-adverse, or jaded as he likes to think he is. Syo is his friend, and his friend has been taken hostage by something that is anathema to logic and reason. The First Son is bad enough, but in Tharan's case? Oh, it's personal and it's on.

I wasn't going to take Qyzen or Zenith. Zenith would just want to shoot him dead. Qyzen isn't big on sparing powerful enemies, either. Nadia and Felix would be better suited to holding the Guardian Holds and coordinating with our allies.

So I take my right hand man, Dr. Cedrax, and his lovely assistant Holiday, and we go to the bunker below the Guardian hold to rescue Syo Bakarn from the First Son or die trying.

My interrupt was ready to countract his assaults. Kicking him in the face a few times (spinning kick) also did wonders. Holiday also proved to be her wonderful, distracting self. My PvP training also came in handy, as I used the whole arena and kited many of his attacks. But in the end, Tharan's medical gadgetry saved the day and Corellia. We were then able to talk our mutual friend back to sanity and escort him back to Tython, putting up with Zenith griping the entire time until Tharan threatened to broadcast his real name and impressive body count (including civillian casualties) over the holonet.

Note: OK, the last bit is completely headcanon...

Addition: If you keep getting knocked back, the classic trick is to make sure your back is close to a wall so even if he does knock you back, you're still in range to chuck a big rock at him.

Interesting points. I was wondering why the affection gains were so big with Theran depending on certain choices at the end there, it had been so long since I had picked him on Nar Shadda I had forgotten about the connection with Syo.

He has a brilliant line during the Corellia class quest after defeating the Jedi holed up in the factory. The First Son hails you and gives the usual "You have no chance to survive, make your time" garbage. Tharan pipes up with this gem.

"Syo, you once scolded Duras Fain for five minutes without drawing breath. You can handle this... interloper."

I think he is my favorite companion so far. (I've played Consular all the way through, still working on Bounty Hunter, saw most of the Knight's story running escort with my guild, my sis and bro in law play Smugglers) Classic Chaotic Neutral that more or less gets dragged kicking and screaming into Chaotic Good.

Felix is rather lucky Holiday wasn't amicible to a time-share arrangment. ;)

So, does anyone have any tips for beating this guy as a healer? I've been putting this battle off for a really long time because I have struggled with most of the boss battles due to few interrupt abilities and little damage. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to tank his lesser abilities even though I'm fully geared and modded. All the other posts on this thread are helpful for kinetics and infiltration, but there is nothing about the healer spec.

Interrupt his big attack that brings down the house; the rest is tank and spank with Qyzen, Felix, Treek or even Nadia.
