MILITARY EXCHANGE

$1000 Tax and All With 2 Year ****** Replacement/Warranty Deal

Only thing I'm concerned about is M2 & SAD portion of it and of I could remove M2 in future and if video card can be upgradeable to 1060 or higher in future?

MSI BEST BUY LAPTOP CHOICE

About $1300 tax and all with no warranty or replacement plan

The only major spec differences i see is the M2/SSD & Graphics Card

Is it better I just pay the extra $300-$370 to get the Best Buy one that I know will meet majority New games at recommended specs or buy cheaper one and upgrade it. If cheaper one worksand upgradeable as far as Video Card / M2 portion I rather just go that route. What should i do?

If I were shopping for a new gaming machine, I would take a serious look at the new Lenovo Y710 series just released. It's part of an emerging trend in the market of something between a laptop and a desktop.

It's not a laptop, but more of a portable console style box you can easily move around (complete with carrying handle). The advantage is it's a micro-tower approach so it is easily upgradeable later on if you want.

If you really want to stick with a laptop form factor... I personally start shopping by checking the current Asus RoG series laptops.

You should be aware that in general the standard for laptops is that the video card is soldered onto the main board. That generally precludes future upgrades.

There are exceptions, but it's something that you want to check out very carefully if you think you'll need to upgrade the video card.

SSDs and RAM are generally easy to upgrade in laptops, so you can go a bit cheap on those at first if you want to chase a better CPU and GPU.

Don't ever buy computer parts without a warranty, especially laptops.

I'd say that the Best Buy one is marginally better because it has an SSD and the newer 1060 graphics. The Apache has a larger screen which would make text easier to read (they are both 1920x1080 though).

So, overall, it's just a matter of how much you want to spend. The Apache is the better value.

Note, other than swapping the hard drive for an SSD and maybe adding more RAM, there's not much to upgrade on either laptop.
