so I'm new to the whole RP thing and I've kinda figured things out. But how does one exactly type in chat as an NPC? I wanted to do something like a spice run and have an NPC talk a little. Any tips?

At the most basic level, you *cannot* type in chat as an NPC.

 

Why? Er, well, because NPC is short for non-player character.

RP'ers generally use the /say and /emote commands. The /say command only broadcasts your message to those that are close to your character (I am unsure of the radius). The /emote command is used to describe what your character is doing. I do not RP with others (the extent of my RP is character backstories, etc.), but I assume that the various guilds have their own established ways of doing things. If you join an RP guild they very likely have a tutorial guide that details the various commands, as well as how and when to use them.

 

If you wish to join an RP guild you could ask on the fleet station or post in your server's sub forum.
