2016 Stronghold Wishlist

ZorClone

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

As someone who has recently heavily invested time and in game credits towards getting a flagship and Yavin stronghold for my guild, I can't help but wish there were more uses for them now that we have them.

Please feel free to contribute your own wishlist ideas for features you'd like to see implemented this year.

Here are mine so far:

  • Interactive Chairs
  • Interactive Lights
  • Day/Night Cycle
  • Combat Dummies
  • Crew Skills Vendor
  • Random PVE Events/Invasions
  • Guild Application Terminal - "Hey, wanna join our guild?"
  • [Flagship] Starfighter / Space Combat mission terminal
  • [Flagship] Priority Transport Terminal
  • [Flagship] Heroic Missions Terminal
  • Wandering Cleaning Droids / Local Wildlife
  • More Textile Options
  • Z-Axis Hook Adjustment

The guild terminal would be nice provided:

Now keep in mine the guild I am is a rp guild and selective on who is allowed in the guild

(1) There is a spot to tell us a little bit about you

(2) A place to put guild rules

(3) The guild leader actually has to accept them.

The rest of the items look nice.

I would prefer free-rein decorations but I know that is my dream.

Here are mine, some of which I've stolen blatantly from OP because they're good:

Interactive Chairs

Volume Settings for jukeboxes / ambient sound decos

Random PVE Events/Invasions

Guild Application Terminal - "Hey, wanna join our guild?"

Tip Appreciation Terminal - "Hey, you liked my stronghold?"

Wandering Mobs - No idea how this would work.

Wall Paint

Armor set mannequins - Not mannequins in the traditional sense, but once you've got a full outfit, have it unlock a decoration which is just a mannequin wearing that outfit.

Larger visual distance on speeders - I hate how they 'flash' in as I get closer to them

Here are my wishes for stronghold upgrades in 2016, starting with the most important:

1) Stop vehicles from making a "vrooom!" sound when someone approaches them. Even when I'm upstairs in my Corsuscant apartment, I hear a "vroom" sound for each vehicle, every time I move around.

2) Increase the volume of ambient sound machines by 100% and have them automatically on (click to turn off). Reduce the range over which Life Day fireplaces can be heard.

3) Do not make companions appear as holograms unless they are summoned and standing next to us. Don't make them holograms just because the owning player is away. An apartment full of holograms looks really strange.

4) Add a way to get to the starship landing pad on Nar Shaddaa apartments. I shouldn't have to use rocket boots and leap off the taxi to play with decoration layout. Make the walkway extend to the adjacent balcony, allow me to get there by clicking the taxi vehicle, whatever... just get me and my guests there more easily. I would much rather turn it into an outdoor park than place a starship there, but I can't do that if no one can reasonably reach it.

5) More themed NPCs, wildlife, and droids. For example, how about some gamblers for our casino tables, mechanics for our vehicles in the garage, chatting visitors, droids serving snacks, casual dancers, dignitaries, bounty hunters, apprentices, ace pilots, small pets that wander about, playing children, and so forth. (Is it just me or are there no child NPCs in the game? Are children illegal in public spaces?)

6) More interactive furniture. How about a dejarik table that plays the hologram of a game when clicked, combat dummies, a swimming pool, a dueling circle, wall art that changes slowly over time, a holographic greeter that plays a welcome message when clicked, a wall target we can actually shoot at, and so forth.

7) Arrangements that aren't just table/chairs, crates, or a vendor stall. For example, a small garden, dueling platform, group of training soldiers, music band on a low stage, small crowd/audience, patio BBQ set, etc. (It seems like most strongholds are just giant collections of seating areas! A stronghold should be more than a massive waiting room and trophy display.)

8) Make older decorations more readily available in a non-random way (IE: not a random furniture pack). Add them to the cartel market and/or give them to vendors. Also, please return the temple chairs.

9) Add many vendors. Felucia and the jawas are simply not enough. Crew skills vendors, stim vendors, etc.

10) More stronghold labels. Most of the themed ones came from long-gone cartel packs.

11) More variety of storage access items. For example, themed cabinets and shelves that give access to the cargo bay, legacy cargo bay, and guild storage.

12) Mission terminals. These could be themed and blend in. For example, a small terminal you put next to your starship hook that gives access to starfighter/space combat missions.

13) Add a terminal for accessing guild information that can be placed at guild strongholds.

14) Add more essential furniture items -- ceiling lights, rugs, "kitchen" items, and so forth. Anything that isn't another table or chair.

15) Your class ship as an automatic starship decoration, the same way we can access our companions and pets. If there is a place to land, why can't I land my own ship at my stronghold?

1- having the possibility to change the colors of the walls inside Nar shaddaa stronghold in the edit menu OR by buying a theme pack for all stronghold. I love this stronghold but the brownish colors everywere make me crazy lol!

2- Have the possibility to go on the "spaceship hook", i don't know, make a bridge from one of the small balcony or an elevator fom the arival bridge.

3- having the possibility to see the glass dome fom inside Nar Shaddaa could be awesome to! or put an elevator into the "vestibule", this elevator should give us acess to the dome "new room" like an interior biodome" and it could also give us acess to the docking pad as well!!!

4- "15) Your class ship as an automatic starship decoration, the same way we can access our companions and pets. If there is a place to land, why can't I land my own ship at my stronghold?"

- i just think it's logical to have acess to OUR ship! but not for Bioware! lol

5- why having chair, beds, medical beds or couch if we cant use it, or at least make some hook on them to give us the possebillity to sit a compagnion on the couch!

6- make compagnion more alive, the holo compagnion don't work it's ugly! and can they move or talk cause they look like zombi!

7- day/night cycle = LOGICAL

8- make more hook possibility for Nar Shaddaa....like 600...

9- STOP THE MOUNT VROOOOOM!!

Sorry my english is not perfect, i'm from Quebec City ;)

Your english is better than most!

I'd love a paint walls option, and also a bridge to get to the star ship hook. Hey Bioware, 1 million credits or 1000 Cartel Coins, that's what we'll pay for it ;-)

Agreed on the class star ship too, but they really aren't that expensive to buy, 5 dark projects and prefabs and you're done.

Day/Night cycle MIGHT come on a future stronghold, but it definitely won't come for current strongholds, too much work. More hooks might come too.

Really good list, thanks for that

  • Add more hooks to Nar Shadaa and Coruscant/Dromund Kaas. Alternatively give us a total hook budget that we can spend however we like (within reason max 1000 hooks per stronghold seems fine)
  • When you ever add a new stronghold, increase the number of strongholds we can own. Seriously.
  • When any changes to strongholds ever conflict with conquest, then separate strongholds and conquest.

1. More floral and fauna options: for those of us who wish to have an actual garden or arboretum (e.g. large trees, vines, etc)

2. Please let us sit in chairs. No idea why after all of this time we can interact with chairs on personal ships but not anywhere else. Would be really nice for guild meeting as well!!!!

3. Would still love a weapons display where we can place old weapons no longer being used, maybe hang them on the wall for a training room setting.

4. Mannequins that we can store armor sets on rather than have them clutter up countless bank slots. I have a lot of cartel sets unused that I would love to display.

I love these ideas, but I have a slightly different opinion on point 15. Perhaps there could be an automatic deco like companions for the class ship that can be placed once in each stronghold that becomes the class ship of whatever character is currently in the stronghold, it would be the ship of the first person to enter the stronghold or the character that owns the stronghold if they are in the stronghold at the time. If no character with a ship were in the Stronghold, there would simply be nothing there.

i'll add...

Coruscant/Dromund Kaas should be the Biggest stronghold of the game since they are in the "Capital City" i've always thought that was a weird choice from bioware... I'm sure they can expand them up or down!

also...PLEASE ADD a spaceship hook in Coruscant/Dromund Kaas, it's kind a tease to have a "garage" with no spaceship hook...

at last ;)

Tatooine... why doe's every room are round? and the same, and almost all the same size...

and PLEASE add a Manaan Stronghold :rak_04:

Agree with what Xina_LA says, especially #3. The introduction of Strongholds was monumental. I enjoy SHs nearly as much as any aspect of SWTOR. However, the holograms of companions belonging to other alts is way past time to resolve. It totally distracts from the immersion and realism.

I'd like to make this a toggle, if possible. My basement is a command center filled with my alliance crew, and setting it up so they look like they're on active missions would be cool.

I'd also like to merge the personnel and companions tallies, as it's odd that I can have so many knock-offs who don't do anything, but I have more companions than I can have in one place.

A lot of good ideas here. I especially agree with the ambient machines. I can barely hear the snowstorm one, and only if I turn my volume up max and squint my eyes while holding my breath. :p Also, the holo-companions really bugs me. I rarely put companions in my strongholds because of this. Sort of along the same lines - I purchased the Rishi Trader thinking maybe they'd be a vendor, what with having Trader in the name, only to be sorely disappointed. I don't even care what she has for sale, as long as she'd buy my junk, but rep items would be cool. And, yes - please, please, please more varied ceiling lights. I'm maxed out on the basic yellow ones, and because I have 3 strongholds right now, that means many rooms are left in the dark. I've checked the GTN but there really aren't a whole lot of options for bright ceiling lights.

Also, the Zakuulan armor/weapon displays only fit on the large hooks, but with their size they should be able to be put onto a medium narrow, at the least. Speaking of the large hooks, why the heck can't the objects move the full range of the hook area? I never really noticed it with big items, but with the Zakuulan displays, they can't be put against a wall because the range isn't far enough.

I'd also really love it if the "common" decorations you can buy for credits and such would have a better variety. Specifically, some pieces that actually look good in the Dromund Kaas strongholds. Second-hand space junk is fine for Nar Shaddaa and Coruscant, but looks really out of place in the shiny Dromund Kaas apartments.

That's all I can think of for now... To add some cheer to this post, check out my Dromund Kaas door monster.

My wish:

An interactive serving droid like I had in SWG where you could program it with 10 spots and it would move to the 10 spots on its own and not sit in one spot.

And some interactive pets/companions so they would move around or at lease working on the comupter/desk repair areas.

My very first wish, which I know will never happen, is to have Star Wars Galaxies housing reincarnated here. I hated the hook system in LotRo and feel the same way about it here. I even resubbed to ToR when I found out they'd added strongholds, but when I came back and saw how they did it, I was bitterly disappointed and left again. Several months later, I thought I'd give it a shot again and I'm doing my best to accept it for what it is. Rift is still my MMO of choice (i've been subbed to it for years) and a big part of that reason is due to the housing sytem (the other is their wardrobe system), which is almost as good as SWGs was. I do like the Star Wars Universe, which is why I'm giving it a second shot. Since Strongholds/housing is such a big deal to me, I thought I'd give some input from things I'd like to see. The OP and others have some great ideas and I'd certainly love see greater ways to customize the actual stronghold, outside of decos, with such things as a color scheme or being able to choose flooring, window looks, arrangements, etc. Just as we all love to have an individual look, the same goes for the strongholds.

All axis rotation for every single piece placed, which also includes being able to raise floor items up or sink things into the floor. (So many of the pots are too damn big for the plants that I wish I could hide part of it. )

Scaling. I'd like to make items bigger or smaller. (Some trees are too small, some plants are too big, etc.)

Greater range of movements on the hooks (Even though its horrible to have hooks and severely limiting, at least we're allowed to have a few different layout options but even then, it can be difficult to make a nice arrangement with only a few pieces. If we had greater range of movement as well as all axis rotation, we could do even more.)

An option to have doors open always or auto open when approached. This can be done via a checkbox to mark or button to push. It'd be lovely to set each one individually with a button.

More natural decos, such as rocks, trees, ,crystals, etc that are NOT potted. Dammit, not everything needs to be in a pot!

Just more general housing type decos period. It seems like there's a ton of military/junk/mechanical... but what if someone just wants to make a cozy homey type setting? Where are the wall draperies? Where are the greater lamps and lights selection? Where are the fireplaces? Other than this lifeday, there are none. And ffs, why does this fireplace have smoke pouring out the front of it?! I was so disgusted when I saw that. I dont mind if the fire smokes a bit, but why did it have to be made to roll out the front?

And yes, that Nar Shadda landing pad should have an easier way to access it then having to run and jump or ride a vehicle and jump to try and reach it. I love the idea that one person suggested of having a walk extend out to it. You could even put it on the lowest level and make it an unlock, to cause people to spend even more money and/or credits just to have it.

So much of the Strongholds system feels like its been done the easiest and cheapest way possible, just as a bone to throw to the dogs to try and keep them content. I really struggle with my feelings over it. I probably would think its better if I had never played Star Wars Galaxies or Rift where I have/had hundreds of items to play with, can put them where I please, create a beautiful single item out of putting multiple pieces together etc. I will just play as long as I can, until my frustration outweighs what enjoyment I do get out of it. Many of the suggestions made in this thread would improve my enjoyment of the game a great deal. When you make your players happy, they are more willing to pay you for it.

I'd like a signpost, that would allow me to interact to change the text, and reveal the text for not-mes on mouseover.

So like the signs on Manaan, except I get to choose the text.

Welcome to the Redmoon Cantina! Please don't touch the turrets, they're new.
