From Lord Zash to Darth Baras, the Sith Lords are idiots!

Darth Sidious had the common sense to design a suit that would both keep his apprentice alive and limit his power to the point he could not surpass him.. Both Darth Baras and Darth Zash teach a young Sith that they know and see becoming the most powerful Sith Lord ever( they state this), even surpassing them in power. When it comes time for them to fight their apprentice, they decide to do so when their apprentice is at the height of their power. The only Sith Lord that had any common sense, from what I have seen in the two Sith stories, was Darth Skotia; he never had anyone around that could ever overthrow him. By the way, what Darth Zash did did not count, she knew that she could never be strong enough to fight Skotia, but you did, and kicked his butt.

To be fair, in neither case is it due to their incompetence as it is due to an unforeseen outside interference.

For Darth Zash:

Her apprentice's power was irrelevent since their body would be taken and used by Zash anyway. Only Khem Val getting in the way of the ritual and flipping it on Zash actually stopped her. Otherwise, her plan was pretty much guaranteed.

For Darth Baras:

His apprentice was guaranteed out of the picture and basically dead. Then the Emperor's Hands get in the way and put his apprentice on a journey to take out specific targets that are necessary to his plans. It is doubtful they would have gotten far without the Emperor's secret extensions interfering.

This. Also, it wasn't Sideous' foresight that allowed him to create the suit in which Vader was stuck in that kept Vader from progressing, it was the fact that Vader was so badly wounded that the suit was the only thing keeping him alive, not even the Dark Side would have kept Vader going. Sideous was actually upset about the suit since it limited Vader's potential so much that Vader could not have become a better Sith. That's why he went after Luke, to replace Anakin since Anakin was basically a broken product, he had become no better than Maul in essence: A vessel of Dark Side rage and power with little Force control. Vader was efficient, but Sideous was disappointed in his apprentice.

Zash was actually stronger than Skotia but the reason she didnt kill him herself was because the DC didnt like bold power plays among their ranks, and killing him would've gotten herself killed by Thanaton or another DC member.

Well being fair, the suit didn't really limit Vader. It was moreso himself that limited....well himself. It was more of a mind barrier that kept Vader down, rather then the suit itself. Of course I suppose, you could also say that the suit did infact help with keeping Vader down since he couldn't really overcome what he was and what he did. Edited by Wolfninjajedi

Every Sithlord wants his Legacy to become powerful.

Sidious seen Vader as damaged when he was in that suit and suddenly realised his most powerful apprentice was crippled . Vader was still much more powerful than most he ever came across , so Sidious had a serious "Lack of Vision" as he would put it.

We can almost see it as Sithlords take it as a Honor to be killed by someone you trained and by the training made them more skilled/powerful than yourself.

Take Bane and his Apprentice , he was upset that he thought she would never become more powerful than himself .

The Sith use tools to achieve their ends. And the Sith love their tools don't they? But when a tool reaches the end of its usefulness, it is discarded. Should Baras and Zash done something? They were doing something. They had their own little plans, their little plots. Their plans failed obviously, but Baras and Zash are the wrong objects for your ire. They had both come so close to achieving their goals. Other Sith Lords are far more pathetic.

The issue with Vader wasn't that he wasn't powerful, he was, he just couldn't manipulate the Force in the way that Sideous had hoped. He could not learn Lightning, as it would have destroyed his suit, the most Vader could have been was a creature of brute force, a destroyer, a Juggernaut (See what I did there?). This is why he was disappointed in Vader, Sideous felt that Vader was useful as an enforcer, but what he truly wanted was someone to continue his legacy, someone whole and not confined by machinery to remain alive.

The issue with Bane and Zannah was more that Bane was afraid of Zannah's patience, perceiving it as cowardice. He knew that Zannah was powerful, but he felt that the reason she had been waiting for so long was more out of attachment to her Master which was not the Sith way, than out of a lack of power. In the end he was proven wrong, but Bane still failed to see the subterfuge of his apprentice until it was too late.

You have to remember that Sith believe only the strong should survive. As a master you know that your students may very well one day attempt to take you down. If it does happen then they have proven that you as the master have become old and weak. However your legacy is to replace yourself with someone that is stronger than yourself
