What I love is how the people complaining are the ones who are doing something wrong. It is easy to see in children. When a child defends something profusely you can almost guarantee they are doing something they shouldn't. .

You don't have kids do you? child or not, when confronted with something unfair or biased or falsely accused, have a tendency to get upset, and become emotionally vested in there argument.

Should I go in to the fan base around Star Wars as well, how many of them become emotionally vested in the title?

I hope you don't have kids. I cant imagine this philosophy working out so well for there trust in you.

Exploiting the game with an alt on a high level planet isnt exploiting? You obviously came out ahead on this one and are just upset they took action against you. If you took it as an insult I am sorry. When you act like a child I will call you out.

Assumption is dangerous. I was not impacted by this ban/suspension. I just disagree with it. And how am I acting like a child exactly? By expressing an opinion?

This thread is absolutely insane.

All you people defending the RMT farmers need to get a clue.

As for the other group of people who were only warned or temporarily suspended, pay attention to the word "exploit". People were exploiting in order to gain an unfair advantage and were punished as a result.

I think the only people in this thread so far are the exploiters and possibly people paid by other companies to bad mouth the game.

There is nothing wrong about collecting money, farming chests, or playing the AH. It is perfectly fine in most MMOs to collect as much money as you want. Now if you are hacking accounts to sell/trade those items and are selling gold for real life transactions, that is different.

If I collect 100 million credits by sitting at a chest spawn all day, am I breaking a rule? If I sell items from those chests or items from world bosses, am I breaking a rule? If I even trade that money to those in my guild, am I breaking a rule?

BioWare cannot prove that I work for an RMT company, and as such, will suspend or ban players who choose to spend their free time sitting at spawn points for chests and collecting the items inside. As for Ilum, does anything change if I am a level 50 and farming those chests? If so, those accounts should have never been suspended in the first place. If not, BioWare needs to add a rule that is clear to everyone, you do not sit and farm chests in this game.

Mr. Reid already answered your questions. Why are you still complaining?

The moderation and customer service in this game is HORRID. I have a group/guild of over 15 players who have all had issues within the game. Major bugs/issues that have yet to be addressed or resolved in any shape or form. The automated responses to the petitions is unacceptable.

In almost every case the automated response isn't even related to the issue or question.

"The customer service being recieved by members of our guild is unacceptable for a paid service such as this game..."

Response:

"Thank you for contacting Droid XYZ, I have forwarded your report to the department in question..."

All of us have removed our subs and will not be playing beyond the 30 free days. I hope many others follow.

LOL! All the gold farmers are in an uproar. Let's face it folks, the people banned or warned were the bad guys. They put their hand in the cookie jar one too many times and got caught. If you are doing nothing wrong then you have nothing to worry about. What is so hard to understand.

I'd like to draw your attention to this part of the statement again:

The actions taken by these accounts - and again, this is a relatively low number - were not 'normal gameplay'. Everything you have listed above is what we'd consider 'normal gameplay'.

While we will not being going into further details of the accounts that were actioned against, suffice to say they were not conducting any activities similar to what you described.

well I have to say, customer support on the forums(only on the forums though) is far better then most games Ive played. And would have left us hanging arguing about this till the cows come home( i don't own any cows). This clears this up for me and I hope others.

I could also write in giant orange letters to get my point across. But, that would be.... childish!!

Don't be a troll. Ive been posting like this regardless of the subject since i signed up. =P

All most posts have been very very colorful. It might not help get the point across but it does help to get noticed. =P

Please quote me the part of the post that says you can not sit in 1 spot and repeatedly loot a chest.

Here's a tip to save you some time: You won't be able to, because that's not what was happening.

These people were EXPLOITING to loot a massive amount of chests in short periods of time. Please bring your faux outrage to some other forums, the people who are actually interested in seeing this game succeed are getting tired of it.

There is a big difference between "gold farming" and selling. It has never been against a rule of an MMO to sit and gain as many credits as you can. You want to find all the chests and loot them? Go ahead. If you want to play the AH and buy low and sell high, go for it. Yet it is clearly obvious that in TOR, if you choose to play the game and farm chests and other NPCs, that you will get suspended.

Unless some bug was in place that made the chests appear right away, there was no exploit. Those that went to Illum at a low level could have gone at level 50 and still got the same chests with the same loot tables.

Exploits are a problem that BioWare needs to fix, but people should never get suspended the first time for doing them. It is the fault of the developer that these issues are not fixed. Exploits and hacking are very different, one is manipulating the game code, the other is finding a loophole within it.

I spend hours upon hours of my game time running around opening splicing boxes and grabbing arch nodes. At lvl 48 and being a stealth class i can bypass most mobs. Even if you dont exploit but just mass harvest nodes you get banned and warned. So that means the GM's are tying to controle the market in a bad way instead of comming with a way to make the market work by balancing it all they go and ban people for thier mistakes.

This shows you the mindset of the gm's and it doesnt look good for the future if they keep this up. Many games where the gm's use this kind of solution you see major loss of subscription's cause people will just go play something else if it happends to them.

RMT should ofcourse be fought and banned but not Joe Blow who likes to make ingame credits and play the market and such.

This is a big FAIL from BW's side and they should get thier act togetter.

This is a giant mistake MMO's try to do. STOP TRYING TO LIMIT YOUR PLAYERS. There's nothing you can do to balance ANYTHING. Stop trying, the game will eventually balance itself out the best it can. If the economy is out in a game for a period of time, it will take that period of time for it to balance itself again, you can't control players and people, and especially ban them. You have BORDERLINE players who aren't quite sure whether they want to play or not yet, and giving out stupid bans like this, is like pushing them back onto the other side of the fence.

So farming boxes/nodes over and over is exploiting? People were warned/suspended for sitting on nodes and looting them. If they want to do that they should be able to do so. There is no mechanic being abused.

Well, one interpretation of exploits is that "if you can do it, it is not an exploit because it is possible to do it". According to that interpretation it wouldn't be an exploit either to find a spot mobs can't reach and farm them where they can't hit you, because it's possible to do.

The different interpretation that's actually used, including by that-other-one, is that "if you can do it, and we didn't intend things to work this way, and it gives you a huge advantage over others without a corresponding investment of time or effort or luck, then it's an exploit".

I can well imagine that someone got 20 accounts, found chest spots on Ilum where mobs didn't spawn and camped them 24/7 stealthed at level 1. In that case they are doing something that wasn't intended and that gives a huge advantage over others without an investment of time or effort or luck. I'll assume that is the situation until we get a couple of 'wtfbbq i looted a chest and now i am banned'.

Thumbs up from me for this one.

Indeed there is a difference. The TOS team is god and has information that we as players will never know about. They obviously have proof of the wrong doing of the players that were warned and banned. There is nothing wrong with amassing wealth in game, but when you try to turn that in game wealth into a real world profit, the ban saber can and will cleave your account in twain. That my friend is sweet, sweet, sweet Justice!

Just add a mob around the slicing node, so people way lower level than intented can't slice it, problem solved.

That's the only thing I can imagine that they will do.

So whoever does this needs to spend a couple of days leveling up to lv50. Whoppee, big deal.

I also wouldn't mind a 'diminishing returns from chests' system. Just because I am mean and jealous that way.

Seeing as how the original post of this thread, written by a developer specifically uses the word "exploit" I think I'll agree that they were exploiting. No matter how skilled developers are players will always find a way to exploit some thing in some way at some time. It happens in every single MMO ever made. The developers are now taking steps to remedy that situation.

The original post also says these people were warned. Please keep in mind that even if they weren't given a verbal warning a temporary suspension itself is a warning. It's a harsh warning, but still a warning.

It seems to me you either didn't bother to read the posts by the developer or you are ignoring them to fan the flames of nerdrage.

I'm sorry that us reasonable people who read the OP and do not want our game to be ruined by RMT jerks and exploiters have come into the thread and ruined it for you.

edit: fixed the quote tag, oopsies!

Your trolling. not sure how calling me childish for my color text size options is staying on subject or being honest. And by this statement above means your trying to elicit an emotional response.

The most you've gotten out of me is a raised eye brow and smirk.
