Smartcat
I was really excited to get the black/black dye in the CC. But 2k really?? White/white was 1k. This just can't be serious. This is why I left the game and now I'm leaving again. Screw the expansion. Bioware/EA only want to milk the subscribers. We should be getting this stuff for free. Alec_Fortescue
We've been here already... And there a number of people hoped that the dyes were pulled so quickly because players were outraged about the price :'[ This is really expensive and black/black is the most basic of colors. They should seriously start to at least consider collections for dyes. At least the expensive ones. Smartcat
I don't even mind paying CC for the dyes but 2000 is too much!! Is almost like there's no limit to bioware's greed. And it suck even more that I was enjoying the double exp, looking forward to the expansion, and now I don't wanna play anymore. I just unsubbed because they crossed the line for me. 1000 for ne dye was a little over the top but I was willing to pay, 2000 I say burn in hell Bioware. They crossed the line because they charge 2000CC for a vanity item? Hm... OK, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. For me, as long as the Cartel Market stuff remain purely cosmetic, I don't care if they charge 10000CC for a dye. I don't need it. And if I REALLY want it, I'll just buy it off the GTN. If they charge 2000cc for a dye (and they've been charging 2000 for a while now), that means that people are willing to pay that amount of CC. If they are going to make money off of the Market, I sincerely hope they only offer vanity items and as long as they do that, they could charge as much as they want. Pingonaut
I'm just glad it's expensive enough to keep the majority of players from using it all the time. Black/white, black/black, etc. are seriously overused colors and look too bland to work most of the time. Wanna look bland? Pay $20.
Vhaegrant
I guess you are entitled to your outrage but they have to put things in the CM people are willing to pay for. Look at the prices such dyes go for on the GTN and it should be a good indication of where the cartel price is going to sit. I work on a very rough exchange rate of 1 cartel coin for 1,000 credits. I know when Black/Blacks were first out they hovered anywhere upwards of 1-3 million credits. Same sort of theory can be used to explain why the Ashfall Tauntaun is 3,000 cc on the CM, because many of the rare mounts from the CM packs are sold on the GTN for 2+ million credits. The items are more a means for players to convert real cash into in-game credits without having to turn to a gold farmer as they do in other games. I think it's safe to assume that the reason the Ashfall Tauntaun is 3000cc on the CM is that there is a 50% discount on Cartel Coins until tomorrow. Which if you have price checked B/B dye lately.. that's a significant discount over normal free market prices for B/B dyes from random pack drops. Don't want to spend CCs... fine.. buy off the GTN for credits. Oh wait.. you quit again?. oh well. Edited November 29, 2013 by Andryah

Last time they sold the Black on Black dye I got it for less than half the normal price on the GTN, plus so many ppl are using the CM to make cred on the GTN that I wouldn't be surprised if I buy this dye for 1.5 mil or less. The Ashfall Tauntaun was down to 1.5 mil at one point and it cost 3k cc's lol!

Stopped taking you seriously riiiiight there... But, I'll still provide a real answer, not that you'll be satisfied with it. Bioware is releasing the B/B dye for 2000cc because it is so rare and so much in demand. The GTN prices are in the 10's of millions. Last I checked it was at 30+ million on my server. So they put out a few of these dyes that nobody really needs to buy, but some who might want to now get the chance. But to prevent the market from plummeting completely they price it at double what the other dyes were. This means that if you really want the dye, you can buy it with cartel coins. And if you really want it, but really don't want to spend real money (or can't) then you can take advantage of the lowered prices on the GTN for the next week or so. Of course, you won't care about any of this reasoning because you still live under the impression that if this game had not gone F2P, you would have gotten all this for free. But the truth is that you wouldn't... The game would be dead and you would be using your physical copy as a paperweight. Or maby one of those fancy home-made wall clocks... Oh hey, it's one of these threads again. Your angry diatribe is NOT going to make the devs change their mind about CM pricing. As long as the demand is there at 2k (which it is), they're not going to give it away for 1k. Plus, if you wait 30+ hours, the dyes will be all over the GTN. In fact, due to player greed, they'll undercut themselves so idiotically, that you'll get it for a pittance.

You are right. I usually play subscription games only. So even though I loved Swtor once it should've died to me once it went free to play. I keep coming back because I think things will be different. But you sir opened my eyes. So this is it for me I'm never coming back, it's sad because I had a good time with game for awhile and was really exited for the expansion. Being able to get the dye with credits or CC is not really the problem, but charging 20 bucks for it is just too much when in most subscription games you get dyes for a really small amount of in game money. The fact that I am paying a sub made me forget that I'm playing a free to play game.

TheNahash
This type of attitude just kills me inside. Seriously? Why? Do YOU need a black/black dye to play the game? Does anyone else? Nope. I'm not being selfish here. It's not that I don't want them, so it's fine. It's that no one needs them to play the game. The same way you don't need (e.g.) an iPhone, you want one. Look, you might hate the F2P model, the Cartel Market or whatever Bioware charges CC for. But the truth is that with the game not being entirely dependent on subscription money, they have to find ways to make money somehow. Making an item expensive means that it will be rare. A rare item is usually something people feel like they just have to get. Therefore they make money off of it and people get the satisfaction that they have a rare item. You can detest my "attitude" but there are facts (like, for example, that a game needs to make money) and feelings (like, feeling "hurt" that you - and by you I mean anyone - can't buy a specific item for the price you'd consider reasonable). So I'll repeat what I said in my previous post. As long as the items in the Cartel Market are vanity items, they can charge as much as they want. And if they charge more than people are willing to pay for, then they will have to drop their prices to make money. gorstram
Next time they'll charge 3000. EA/Bioware doesn't price things like Crazy Carter's Candy Emporium, where if Carter sees that jujubes are selling really well at a dollar that he'll mark it up the next day to three dollars. I get it that there's much butthurt in this thread over the price, but it's not going to up, and it's certainly not going to go down.
