KendraP
I mean, you could set up a security key too...
MadDutchman
Considering it takes all of what, 2 minutes to setup a security key app on desktop/phone and gives you free CC to boot, I have very little sympathy for those complaining about 1 time password woes (sorry). Download WinAuth, follow the instructions for setup, profit.
SteveTheCynic
Every freaking thing asks for a new ONE TIME PASSWORD that takes upwards of 10 minutes to get emailed. What gives? - P It's called "one time" because each one can be used one time. It *should* be called "single-use". You get them because your public IP address changes (the address on the "outside" of your router). There are many reasons why that might be the case, but the fix is what was already noted: get a security key app. It doesn't need to be the SWTOR app on a smartphone or tablet. It can be any generic "TOTP" authenticator (Authy, Google Authenticator, OTP Auth, SaasPASS, etc.) on the phone/tablet, or a program like WinAuth *on*your*PC*. And best of all, you get 100 extra Cartel Coins a month if you have a security key.
JediQuaker
As StC said, you get an OTP request when the server detects an IP address change at your end. This is a security feature for when someone may try to hack your account from a different location. The detected IP can change for a few reasons, such as: - you log in from various locations such as home, school, work, parents house, etc. - your ISP doesn't "hold" your IP address long enough and/or your internet connection is not "always on". If you log in from various places, it would be best to use an additional authenticator. If your IP keeps changing you can contact your ISP and discuss why. And, btw, don't turn off or reset your modem. If you only get the OTP occasionally, it may be easier to just accept the occasional extra password, or you can use the authenticator and enter 2 passwords every freakin time. 🙂 Edited January 28, 2020 by JediQuaker
MadDutchman
use the authenticator and enter 2 passwords every freakin time. 🙂 If you switch to WinAuth it will auto-copy it to your clipboard so you only need to paste into the SK field. Piece of cake, much nicer than manually doing it from fob/phone.

Adding a security key is the best way around all that hassle. The 100 CCs are just icing on the cake. Of course, the OP's account is being protected, which is the important thing.
