Flapjak Posted January 13, 2019 Share Posted January 13, 2019 I keep hearing that people poo poo on Vanguard DPS but then I hear people saying Vanguard DPS is one of the best. So what is it then. Is it good or bad? also which Spec? is there any actual people who raid and parse a vangaurd or play the class. Equeliber Posted January 13, 2019 Share Posted January 13, 2019 (edited) Vanguard DPS is bad in PvP because of lackluster defenses and no ability to escape focus. Vanguard DPS is amazing in PvE because of great damage and good group utility. Plasmatech is one of the strongest DoT specs, Tactics has the best burst in the game. Sonic rebounder utility is huge on certain fights. And the lackluster defenses are mostly irrelevant in PvE. huntersmercy Posted March 6, 2019 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Hi I have recently come back to SWTOR and I'm wanting to start playing my Vanguard Trooper again when i was playing before i took my break (which was over a year ago) i was playing him as a dps I've been trying to find a build guide for both dps specs but all are 2017 (5.0) guides can anyone point me to more recent that are viable still? Well, the current game version is 5.10, all the 5.0 guides are still fine, more or less. Vanguard wasn't changed at all, so those guides are fine to use. THTremere Posted March 18, 2019 Share Posted March 18, 2019 (edited) I have recently returned as well. I have a Vanguard Plasmatech and It is pretty easy to use. However, I am only level 42 with her so far. I was tanking as a shield specialist which is also a blast but I found queuing for flashpoints no one seems to care much about the holy trinity so I went dps. My character's name is Paksenarr.
