Right. I really would like a Devaronian player character now. I'd roll a Devaronian Smuggler in a heartbeat!

Just sayin'...

And, the chapter's playing fine for me, with my Jugg meeting his beloved Vette and all. Great stuff!

This was an EXCELLENT chapter!

A weird quirk about Devaronians that might keep them out of consideration for player species is that the females actually look entirely different than the males.. like they look like a totally separate race. So Devaronians wound be kind of a two-fer (and im not sure there are any in game models of what the female Devs look like)

I always wondered why they weren't already playable, seemed like such an obvious choice. Now it actually makes me sad, because I at least expected to have them as a playable race somewhere down the road. I have quite a few armors I'd love to slap on a Devaronian.

From what I know, there are two widely different depictions of female Devaronians;

One of the depictions has them look basically like humans except with two black dots on their forehead and some freckle-like dots on their bodies;

In the other of the depictions; they do not look like humans and are, amongst other things, covered in white fur with cat-like features and long ears;

What madness is THIS? Devaronian females don't look anything like the males?

Sorry, I chalk that up to fan fiction comic book silliness. Show me something in nature that looks THAT radically different between male and female... And I get that this is science fiction/fantasy, but puh-leeze!

I could buy that female's horns aren't so prominent, maybe even present... I could buy Devaronian females looking like red Zabraks or Sith (the race) (with or without hair).

Some of that, though... no...

Yeah, that crap is taking science fiction well into ill-thought stuff someone made up because they had a cat fetish .....

It's the first time i see these "furry" female devaronians, but scientifically speaking horns and hair/fur are the same thing (keratin) so it's actually not that far fetched.

Male twileks in this game look different from any male twilek i'd seen before, and no one seems to care that much, so i would go for the Darth Maladi archetype, that said i still expect Nautolans to be the next playable race.

Nautolans? Maybe. But it leaves me with a big case of 'meh'...

Really, part of the charm of Devaronians comes from their EXCELLENT example, Gault Rennow/Tyresius Lokai. In a sense, I'd love to play that guy, a roguish smuggler making the most of the humorous dialogue options in the game. I suppose I'd play him a little darker than the rather moral smugglers (!?) I tend to play. Rennow/Lokai is such a fun character, full of gall and panache!

Well, Star Wars is science fantasy and the races I've seen in the series has been less grounded in reality and actual science so this seems nothing new to me. Besides sexual dimorphism in nature can look very odd to a lot of people; an example would be found amongst some kinds of spiders;

(Warning: these links contain images of spiders)

There is also sexual dimorphism in lions such as that males tend to have manes while females do not. I think the mane is also an indication to other lions including lionesses of the health of the lion whom the mane belongs to.

I'd like for playable devaronians where the female design has the non-human-like appearance because I doubt they'll do both versions of the female devaronian design and that design is the one I like to see in the game.

To each their own, I suppose... We're talking about humanoids here so I think the male/female lion parallel makes more sense.

In part it might come down to what Disney/Lucasarts can 'sell', or what would be believable. The male Devaronian has horns, the females don't perhaps. Or the females have hair with or without the horns.

In game the Voss have a difference in colors, of skin and eyes. The Cathar seem a bit different to me too.

I don't think there's a reason they CAN'T do them differently, I just think it's a hard sell to credibility.

Whatever, just give me a male Devaronian and I'll be happy, I only play males anyway...
