i leveled up my sorc first in 3.0 for raiding purposes and decided i will pvp with it alongside my shadow/assassin. as the title says i have no pvp gear and a very small amount of comms on the toon. how would i go about using bolster in 3.0? would it still be the same 45 blue method or has anyone found a new way to get decent bolster?

I have been playing around with it a bit... Have a look at the sticky about gearing... I just posted there my results

Simple answer - 162 PVE purple gear is the sweet spot pre 60... anything higher gives you less expertise, which seems to be working like I think it was always intended to... You should get 1900-1932 expertise with that gear... Don't fall into the trap of using higher gear for higher health/damage... It won't serve you well in pvp

As for LVL 60... I don't know yet... I'm holding off on lvling any further until they remove the cost for training

It's the sweet spot if you have no pvp expertise gear... Which is what the OP was asking about... The best you can hope for in my experience is 1900-1936 "bolstered" expertise when you are only using PVE gear

Hmm I forgot they canned bolstered weapons.. been a while. Ill give 162's a whirl.

I use blue 172 from Rishi vendor and bolster better than 168 PVE gear. I have 1902 expertise and 1100 ranged bonus on my PT with 41k HP.

That is odd... Considering I lost expertise by Equiping 172 gear and also took a lot more damage and my damage out put was a lot lower...

This is a bit odd. I cant recall ever seeing pve gear get bostered to 2018. So if this is legit, then 156 mods are the best bolstered in 3.0? Surely it would be if it granted you 2018 exp?

I tried 156 and didn't get 2018 expertise... The highest I could get was 1936... But then I got the same expertise with 162s as well... So with the extra stats from 162... I can only conclude that they are better than 156...

Of course I don't have any numbers to back that up because TORparse is still down.. Can anyone out there provide numbers on damage outputs? Of both gear types... I know health is better... But hard to tell on damage

first day (or maybe two days, too) of the xpac, greens would bolster me to 2018, and give me mad hp

 

starting a few days or so ago, now only my full obroan/brut gets me 2018 exp, greens still give mad hp, but about 1763 exp
