No one forced you to spend all that money on nothing.. Sorry, but this is totally on you. Gambling is gambling.... accept the risks that go with it.

Are you rolling the kingpins only when you have the feeling lucky buff ?

Not sure if trolling or not....

Regardless: please note this event is exactly what is supposed to be: "credit sink".

and it is like that since...4 years already, so why so surprised?

Apart from that: I do not think I have spent more than 100 000 credits on it alltogether, yet I managed to receive the mounts, decos and jackpots. (at tleast till now).

The system gives you opportunities to win big by low cost, you just need to figure it out how.

Tip: No one forces you to buy Kingpin chips only.

Of course the RNG factor is huge and I have a feeling this year the chances are even more nerfed than previously, but still, you do not need to spend billions to get the rewards or decos.

If I had to guess they bought the Kingpin chips outright for 75,000 each instead of buying the Smugglers chips at 2,000 each.. I know I spent 18 mil last year, but 50 mil seems unlikely 4 days in unless they were buying Kingpin chips.

So you are saying that the event is a gambler's credit sink where the odds are forever against your favor and the bank will always be the winner at the end, just like a real life casino? How shocking...

Straight up you did it wrong. Never, NEVER buy the Kingpin chips with credits. Only the smuggler ones. Only play the Kingpin slots when you get the Feeling Lucky buff and you've generated about 9-10 KP chips. I've gotten all the prizes over the years with minimal loss of credits. Seriously, the last two years I don't even buy them. I just wait til I've accumulated enough of the free ones playing the game. All achievements, achieved.

Do not buy Kingpins chips, Ever!:D

You know it's strange. I don't enjoy the nightlife event either, but some people do, and it has no impact on me, so I just don't do it.

I'd rather complain about things that do affect me, like stupid gearing decisions.

No no no... it's not gambling, it's "surprise mechanics". EA has spoken!

Jokes/memes aside, I have a hard time believing OP is not a troll, considering this event has been around for years, has never been anything but a credit sink (which honestly this game needs), is not tied to character progression or story in any way, and is (most importantly) COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. If you blew 50 million credits on the event and didn't win anything (because you didn't utilize the mechanics of the event to improve your odds), that's all on you, buddy. No one made you do that.

Fools and their money are soon parted....

There is a sucker born, every day...

HINT: its not a game of chance, its a fools game...

That is why it is called "GAMBLING" and not "Winning"....

OBTW;

The odds are always stacked in favor of the House. Try going to Vagas some time and see how much you LOOSE.

Welcome to the world of Casinos, even in SWToR.

I mean wasn't it obvious it was a money sink to get credits out of the economy?

I'm one of those gamers who's highly critical of the gambling/casino tactics that have long plagued this industry, but I don't feel that way at all towards this event because the event in itself is themed around gambling in a casino. This is a rare situation where I can actually say gambling mechanics are being put to good use.

Now when it comes to other matters within the game, that's another story. But this event is just a fun little activity where players can go experience the nightlife atmosphere of Nar Shaddaa for a few weeks in the summer. Also, the rewards are cosmetic, so I think it's fine.

yeah ... me either. I just got my new puter back... I never mess with that sort of event. Gambling is still gambling... Never worth it!

Besides I had to do a double take: Kingpin chips ? Really ?... almost made me laugh ! I know what it is supposed to be ... but for a second I saw Klingon ! LOL !

Yeah.... It's late !

I’ve not heard of this before as I’ve never really been into this event. How do you get the feeling lucky buff?

The Feeling Lucky buff is acquired by playing the Smuggler's Luck machines (the lower tier ones, colored blue/green). It increases your odds of winning on the Kingpin's Bounty machines (upper tier, colored pink/purple). The buff lasts two minutes. The most cost-effective way to play the slots in the event is thus to buy a bunch of Smuggler's tokens and play the lower tier machines until you have won several Kingpin's tokens and are also under the effects of the Feeling Lucky buff. Then you go play the upper tier machines until your buff is gone; the buff is removed when you win something, or it can just expire on its own. Rinse, repeat. No need to purchase the expensive Kingpin's tokens at all.

Ok, thanks. I’ve been playing the lower ones to get the KP ones already, so what your saying is after I’ve played them, I’ve got 2 minutes to use them on the KP machines and if I win something I need to go back and reset them on the lower ones?

Does that include winning more KP tokens or is it if I win CMC and other rewards? And as soon as I win, I should stop rolling the KP machines and go straight back to the lower ones to get the buff again?

Do I only need to play the lower machines once to get the buff back?

You need to check your buff/debuff bar to see if you currently have the Feeling Lucky buff. It's randomly acquired on spins of the lower tier machines, I think it's like a 10% chance to acquire it each spin. The icon looks like a blue hologram of a Hutt's head. You'll also get a "Feeling Lucky" text announcement on your screen when you get the buff.

Winning back your Kingpin's token doesn't remove the buff. Winning a certificate, a mount, or the merc contract will remove the buff. You can watch the buff icon and see it disappear after you click on a machine and you'll know you're getting some prize for that spin.

Yes, as soon as you win on the higher tier machines (or after the buff times out on its own if you don't win while it's up), you should go back to the lower tier ones, farm some more Kingpin's tokens, and wait until you've acquired the Feeling Lucky buff again before you play the higher tier machines again.

My own technique, much in line with others have said, but to speed the process a bit..

I usually start with at least 100 of the small tokens... stand on an end, so I can keep 2 machines running, though a couple guides claim you can position to run 4 machines, though crowded days, I just stick with 2 machines.

There is 1.5 second cool down on clicking a machine, and each machine has it’s on 5 second cool down.. playing two machines basically gives me a roll every 2.5 seconds.

I usually play the cheap machines until I have 21 kingpins, and keep playing until I hit a fresh feeling lucky buff... then run to a kingpin machine, playing 2 machines alternating to keep them running... running to a machine, and just playing one machine, I’ve had the buff run out before I get a hit...

Rinse and repeat till you get enough of whatever you’re after.

I do it pretty much the same way but only play one kingpin machine at a time. For me the event is a great opportunity to gain new decos and cartel certificates. Yesterday my yield for 120 smuggler chips was 5 golden and 5 cartel certs.

This is actually a great event as you can farm cartel certifcates and redeem them for cartel market gear on fleet! As long as you farm smuggler luck machines and use the kingpin machines when you get the lucky buff, you can make a ton of credits selling CM decos from cartel market certs!

It's EA, you can consider yourself lucky they aren't charging real money to run the slot machines.

I say don't give up hope!

Last year I spent a sizable slab of cash to try to win the Gamorrean and didn't get him. I won one vectron and that was it, oh, and a lot of gold certs.

This year I decided to make a Smuggler as I only have one other in my stable of 53 toons. Since the event started I have been playing on my trooper for 1-3 hour blocks twice a day, grinding at the promenade casino. I won about 70 odd Golden certificates, 30 Cartel Certs, and one Vectron. I bought a piggy with the proceeds and mailed it and the Vectron to my new Smuggler.

After getting her up enough in the story to get my ship and head to Nar Shadaa I got the intro quests and decided to try her out. I won 2 golden certs. The casino was crowded so I decided to go to the promenade floaty casino bit where my trooper had been grinding. I bought 20 kingpin chips and 1000 smuggler chips. I hadn't had much luck here on my trooper, but felt optimistic on my smuggler.

Within 10 minutes I had won a Vectron, then the Merc contract, 5 more gold certs and another Merc contract. In shock I called it there.

I DO NOT recommend buying the kingpin chips, as my trooper had done that twice and got diddly, relying mainly on the 2000 smuggler chips i bought to play. But after pretty much a bust last year I was very happy with that lucky 10 minute break. I still have yet to break a machine.

I don't think I will ever see a luck streak like that for that event again, but don't give up, it can happy to unlucky buggers like me. :)

Best of luck to you! :)
