Moral of the story, never complain about Companion Nerfs.... because you will get hit with the nerf bat next.

And second moral Never complain about balancing for PVP, because this is what you get.

This isn't a PvP balance. PvP is so out of whack with healers dominating it's barely functioning. So then along comes BW and nerfs damage ... esp BURST damage.

 

This patch breaks PvP completely.

Yes this patch does. However this is Bioware's response to asking for PVP balance. You and I both know it's a dumb fix... but Bioware hasn't gotten that memo yet.

It seems that alot of abilities are being squashed from 30% to 10% or 15%. This appears to be major, from 1/3rd to half.

 

No, it is lowering the crit bonus damage multiplier. You already have around 60-70% boost from your crit stat at max level, the passive that provided an additional 30% is now an additional 10%. So the passive abilitiy got nerfed significantly, but the overall impact on burst won't be that much. The overall impact on sustained damage of burst classes will go down significantly.

 

Outside of Operatives, it appears to be a pass at lowering the damage of the non-sustain damage specs of classes and hit Sniper especially hard since they are also ranged rather than melee. Long ago they stated that sustained melee > sustained range > burst melee > burst range. The numbers may not be ideal, but if you look at the theoretical DPS outputs based on the numbers, it more accurately portrays this philosophy than before where AP, Engineering, Deception, and Marksman were all in the top 5 or so.

 

TL;DR Will have to wait for the patch to see how things fall, but you certainly aren't being nerfed by 30-50%.

healing was already op in pvp, how are people supposed to die now?

Seriously though this is the biggest indirect Sage/Sorc pvp buff they could have made, they've utterly neutered the classes that actually had a shot at putting sorc/sage healer down (or at least pressuring them) while simultaneously failing to address any of the glaring issues with Sorc/Sage healing (and to a lesser extent dps)

 

The fact that SS/MM/Engi/Sab and AP/Tactics went from top of the dmg tree to rock bottom (if the preliminary math pans out SS/MM will be the lowest parsing spec in the game by quite a margin) is just the rich fail gravy topping.

 

That said, Snipers and Slingers were always in demand for PvE , even when we're not topping dummy parses we can lay down our dps very effectively in actual enounters and have good utility so we'll survive I'm sure, but the level of the nerf seems overly punitive to me.

 

Such is life, one minute you're up, the next you're down and next week/month/year it will be somebody elses turn.
