Think of the effect of the in-game economy cause of this staggered launch

Everyone invited day 1 will have a MASSIVE controlling hand in the economy and will basically controlling it, better hope you join a brand new server when you get invited.

That massive CONTROLLING hand comes from to much ************.

Don't you know you'll go blind and get warts.

Oh OH to late

This economy is only a buying/selling economy. nothing is changed because they got things first. Prices will not be set until we know how rare things are and many other variables. You'll only have an advantage if they got like 2 months of early access.

Wait, why?

Well for instance the early guys will have had the time to gather resources and craft items before anyone else.

Having materials and items to sell before anyone else means that the demand (of those coming later) will outstrip the supply (those who came earlier and managed to craft/gather stuff).

Basic economics would say that if demand is that much higher than supply the prices will be high. If so, early starters would have access to a market where they can sell their items for EXTREMELY high prices and make lots of cash (I've personally done that on several MMO launches to gain an advantage over others really).

Usually, however, only the most adept at getting the crafting mats/items quickly get the advantage (so it may be said that they deserve it because they use skill to get the money). In this launch, however, those who pre-ordered first (and actually lost real-life resources for that relative to those who ordered later) gain access to this advantage.

Just sayin'

OMG Occupy Galactic Trade Network!

You will find anything to whine about until you get your invite and don't care about everyone else. Like me, because I knew this was coming in July when they explained this to us. Like when you pre-ordered your copy and it was there in big bold capital letters.

Does this mean you are going to start Occupy Coruscant to whine about how life is unfair?

In the short term, they will have an advantage. Just like, in the long term people that live in their mother's basement and play 18 hours a day have an advantage. Ultimately, the server economy will be driven by neither of those groups. The simple fact is that people that can buy whatever they want still only buy a very small portion of items. It is the vast majority of players that drive the economy. This is the simple supply/demand economic driver. You can have all the money in the game and still will only buy the best gear available ONCE, and buy stims/kits as needed. The rest will go at the market driven price.

If the price is too high, vast amounts will go unsold. If the price is too low, there will be none to be had so new items will be marked up. Eventually, the market finds equilibrium.

I suggest learning a bit more about economics. If you don't want to go the Adam Smith route (his use of language can be a bit difficult to get through), you can read Henry Hazlitt's book "Economics in one lesson"... or were you just here to QQ?
