CE Vendors Promised Updates When?

OK, let's play this out.

The lawsuit is deemed to have merit.

The suit then goes into court proceedings. At best it may be 6 months to a year before a hearing. In this time lawyers are still getting paid.

The actual case most likely will take another month or two of time, after which a decision is rendered. The looser looks to file an appeal. Again lawyers are getting paid.

If BW/EA looses and are assessed fines, there is more money gone. EA takes the next course of action: SWTOR is no longer seen as a viable entity for the company and shuts the game down.

End result. CE vendor is still not updated and no one has a game to play.

Well played, SWTOR players, well played.

EA did not close down BF3 which makes less money than TOR so your argument is void.

Different scenario, so no.

The only reason EA would not shut it down would be if they are contractually obligated to keep the game running for a certain period of time, but even with that, I am sure there are clauses in the contract they could cite to get around that.

Ultimately, all they need to do is put in one reskinned piece of armor (not set) once every 4 months and that would negate any argument and still screws over the "entitled" CE owners (I own the CE but was not foolish enough to buy it simply because of an in-game vendor). In fact, I hope they do that - I hope they pick the ugliest armor pieces in the game and simply recolor them to be even uglier - the entertainment value resulting from that alone would be worth a 5 year's subscription cost.

go buy some cartel coins

Trolling isn't really asked for in this post, or any other that's looking for feedback from EA/Bioware on their broken promises and false advertising. As CE owners, who paid extraordinarily more than the rest, and especially the FREE players, we were buying into promises of constant and regular game updates to the exclusive CE store as part of what we'd be getting from that investment. The fact that we have gotten no updates to it in over a year, and no responses from BiowarEA about it, when there is this + a much longer thread that have been on the General Discussion front page for over a month of the other thread, still with no responses, is horrendous of them. We aren't asking for Cartel Market items, so telling us to buy them isn't anything more than juvenile trolling.

The intelligent response from BW to a threat of litigation over the CE vender isn't to let it go to court.

Legal will evaluate the risk that EA will suffer a judgement against them. They'll assign a potential dollar value to that loss. Then senior management will decide If that dollar value is greater than the cost of updating the CE vender, and if that risk is acceptable. They also have to consider the possible impact of news about the legal action on participation in the game, and the brand equity of BW, SWTOR, & EA.

Considering how fast they've managed to crank out fluff for the Cartel Market ~ and the number of reskins of player gear that are already used by NPCs ~ the cheapest course of action for them isn't to fight it at all.

The intelligent course of action for them is to apologize and update the vendor.

If we had gotten a small update with every major patch of 2 armor sets, 2 pets, & 1 mount, their wouldn't be any legit basis ~anywhere~ for anyone to complain.

That's only .....

,8 orange modable armor sets (4 per faction) (all the CE armor thus far is worn by NPCs ~ almost no dev cost)

,4 mounts (imho STAP Royal should have been a CE mount ~ dorky....yes...but it fits with a certain irony)

,8 pets ( just recolors or minor mods of some cartel pets ~ gold version of low atmosphere probe? Klor Slug with bling colar? ~ Okay... now I'm being facetious)

...thus far...

If they had done that and a few wicked cool things like....

1. make a few of the NPC skins for the C2-N2, 2V-R8, & T7-O1 droids available as companion customizations

2. add a recolor of the CZ-17 Incendia mount (green or blue instead of red anyone? BoP)

3. add a BoL modable blaster

4. add a BoP flying ship toy based on a player ship model (1 per faction - but also put unbound versions in the CC packs)

...retailers wouldn't still be sitting on copies of the CE over a year later. And most all of the CE owners would feel like they were getting their money's worth.

That's not too much ask & not enough for them go court over if there is ANY risk of the type of judgement that European countries levy against a company over crap like this. England & France don't just force companies to give consumers their money back ~ they levy punitive fines as well that tend to end in more than 5 zeros.
