The weird people you meet in Group Finder.

My mid ranged I think lvl: 39 sorc healer, now DPS.

Well, thing is I as a healer, stacked power and surge with indestructible crystals. Around 15% crit, was not fun.

Foundry SM:

Phase in, see the tank, lvl 34 fresh off the press, 8k health, DPS stance, Shii-cho or what ever. Sees my amazing 12k health sorc and says "do you want to tank? You look like the tanking type." DPS sniper phases in, sees my 12k health,

"Oh **** yea finally a geared tank!" "Wait, (insert character name here) you have 12k health and your a sorc?"

Oh*****bouttogodown.jpeg

Sniper loses **** about how he can't get anything in flashpoints. I told him I'm heals I just prefer having high health.

Then the jugg dps zones in, of course he sees my health and again says I should tank. The tank chimes up and says its a good idea, I waited for this que so what did I do? Heal tanked that *****. Worst experience ever, group was tunnel visioned, and no kill order. Now I'm just fretting that I should have gone assassin.

On the bright side, it would have been easy to hold aggro against a group of bads :p

I'm also coming to learn that seeing someone proudly displaying the "Imperial Forward Commander" (Imp-side KDY max-rep) title should probably be vote-kicked and /ignored out of hand. I am sorely tempted to start a vote-kick the net time I see that just to see what would happen.

Sounds just a bit harsh/elitist.

That being said, I would save that kick experiment for someone with the Drive Yards Demolisher title. At least Imperial Forward Commander has some kind of RP feel to it. As for starting vote-kicks against them, I wager the majority of people would kick them too, but for no other reason than they were given the option to do so.

I have alts with both "Drive Yards Demolisher" and "Imperial Forward Commander" displayed (merc and sin, respectively.) My reason for doing so is purely RP, I swear. I actually have no idea how good I am, but after 200+ Kuats I'm sure I learned at least SOMETHING.

Only thing I've ever learned out of KDY is new ways to curse at bads....

Lucky you, only thing I learnt at kdy is the curses bads use when picked up on their bad habbits

Well how to curse and pick bad on their bad play without them knowing ;) Like this sent poping GbtF on CD being a 'suicidal with a HP pool challenged liking to overload his healer with out even DPSing well enough to keep add off said healer.' Sent even asked what I meant by that!!!!! lol

I find that keeping the message short and concise as possible helps in that.

"Adds"

"Guys? Adds?"

"ADDS FFS!!!!"

(Splat!)

"/facepalm -- told you so."

This usually does the trick, except when it doesn't

I'm a Sent, and a Sage, and a Gunslinger, and a Vanguard and I got no idea what on earth it was you just wrote. Also: GbtF ? LIfe is too short to try and learn abbreviations people make up randomly

Guarded by the Force. If I am not mistaken, a Sentinel used Guarded by the Force every time it was available, making it very difficult for the healer to keep him up and, as a little bonus, the Sentinel didn't even manage to generate more aggro than the healer, so the adds overwhelmed the healer.

Guarded by the Force.

Said sent was poping it on cooldown, was in combat spec (Gore got up a few times) and was using Juyo stance.... He wasn't even DPS'ing enough to kill his own adds in the droid fight before I killed two and was finishing him with a quick Disturbance (in healer spec).... Let say I just cursed at his badness for the whole KDY.

EDIT : Oh!! And I didn't heal his *** at all for the whole bossfight.. so he died a few times. During the trash clearing, let say I was trying to heal him, untill I gave up and just Forcequaked everything so it was over faster.

Now, I'm over age 40, slowing down, an inveterate clicker, and not too experienced at this sort of thing yet, plus I really need to get to grips with setting up a UI that actually works for healing with my play-style (the stock UI sucks hilari-balls for healers, by the way. How do progression raid-healers deal with that all-pretty-no-functionality piece of crap?);

My guess is that they don't, except possibly when doing a video and wanting a less cluttered screen.

In my raiding UI I've put the most critical information near the center of the screen. There's a 3x4 slot quickbar (#5 as it happens) to display the cooldowns of abilities (the abilities are also bound to quickbars 1-3 for hotkeys). To the left of it is my own character portrait, below which are the raid frames. To the right is the target portrait, and below it target's target and focus target. I can see everything I need with very little eye movement, including any circles that might appear under my feet.

The only thing I'm still struggling with is finding good targets for AoE heal with my scoundrel, as it needs a primary target and it's way too hard to select anyone by clicking them on the game view (usually it selects an enemy if one is anywhere near the intended target).

1st scamper into centre of group you want to drop it on, hit hotkey, 2nd scamper out. This will of course result in only 3 people beside you getting hit with Kolto Cloud, but 3 is better than none and if it's ticking on you then you're still building stacks of Upper Hand.

Not perfect, but might be helpful.

Healing may be a stressful and all-too-often thankless task (remember:

), and yet embracing that responsibility carries with it a higher tier of rewards that you just don't get as a DPSer.

Namely, that if you are an inveterate PuG "dungeon crawler..."

...Then you have much more freedom to /ignore bads pretty much whenever you want, without having to worry too much about future potentially longer queues.

Yes, even if you /ignore hilari-bad tanks! Basically a complete non-issue when /ignoring hilari-bad DurrPS, if my experience so far is any indication.

Did a Directive 7 (normal) yesterday, with this smash-Jugg (first such I've seen in like, forever) who did all the classic DurrPS moves, completely oblivious to both me and the tank asking him not to pull before the tank repeatedly, oblivious to CC-discipline, even more oblivious of proper kill-order, the whole deal.

We got through fine --even the [HARD] version of D-7 isn't, really-- but let me tell you, the feeling of absolute liberation, /ignore-listing this idiot even before we all said our "TY for group" at the end was just sublime, to a level that beggars words.

Welcome to the ignore-list baddie, no doubt one more of many. For once, I really don't have to worry about being around to watch you get ostracised, and how/if I might take "collateral damage" vis-a-vis future queues.

Healing is harder. Non-healers will often see things going pear-shaped as your fault. Sometimes, it really will be your fault.

But rewards of relative freedom from the PuG-queue monster gained through adversity are always worth it.

Queued for Esseles on Bastion.

2 Vangards, 2 Guardians. 4 tanks.

It went well enough, but still...

If it was "queued for 55 tactical, got a group of four tanks" then youd have something to be annoyed about.

But frankly, at the level youre doing esseles, its quite likely that you dont even have the tanking stance yet, and the initial talent points mean precisely jack. There is no difference between a "tank" and a "dps" at that point.

Plus, you have to factor in the bit where all roles an AC has the potential to perform are selected by default.

I love that KDY-academy, where these comes to lvl 55 and straigh to 55hm fp..

KDY Academy? Those were the golden days, my friend! Now we have 12x speed-levelers who went from 1-55 in two days flat, and show up for HMs rocking quest greens from their 20s. At least in KDY you got planetary coms.

Not even a week into this new age and already we are reaping the fruit. 20k sniper in Mando HM, insisting on pulling mobs before the tank. Guess how long it took before I stopped running frantically after him to panic-heal.

DPS op in a Czerka HM with around 23k, pulling before the tank and then hitting Escape when it got to be too much, dumping all the angry mobs on me. "It's just trash, it doesn't matter, I had faith in your ability to heal me."

Directive 7 HM, me healing with 3 speed-levelers. And by healing, I mean healing, tanking, and dpsing, because the others just followed me around and waited for me to pull every time. Now, I know D7 is easy-peasy, soloable even, but if I wanted to dps I would have gotten on one of my dps, and if I wanted to tank I would have logged on my jugg. But I wanted to heal, so before the second boss I finally said something about it. The tank told me to shut up and fall in line, but at least he pulled the boss, so that was something.

After his rudeness I stopped doing anything short of healing: no dps and not going out of my way anymore. Third boss, the tank makes another rude comment about my "nice dps". "Am I a dps? I had no idea." Sorc dps asks us to "work together as a team". I notice that this sorc was alternating lightning strike with putting bubbles on everyone and trying to heal the tank, depleting his Force and making the fights last way longer than necessary. When he bragged about keeping the tank alive, I pointed out that, you know, I'm a healer and nobody has ever been in any danger of dying at any time. "Well if I heal the tank, that's less for you to do, since you don't want to dps anymore," he said.

It's just... I'm really sick of it. The laziness. The absolute expectation that somebody will be there to carry you if you show up unprepared. The attitude when the person you wanted to carry you doesn't really feel like playing all 3 roles at once and just wants a nice clean run for once.

I don't mind carrying people. If people aren't taking much damage, I always (except for last night) happily throw out whatever puny dps I can. (And these days it seems I out-dps a lot of the dps, which is sad.) When the tank makes no effort to keep aggro and I end up with all the adds, that's fine with me as long as I can handle it and nobody dies. If we get a tank who stands around mesmerized by some shiny object instead of pulling in a level 50HM, I will gladly charge ahead and plow ever onward.

But don't give me this goddamn attitude that tells me you don't see me as a person but rather an NPC like Jakarro whose purpose is to show up and escort you to victory, because I'm not in the mood anymore.

He is at least trying. My best geared L55 Shadow still has L50 4 piece set bonus. They still say I'm undergeared for level 55 HMs (especially CZ ones). :)

I know, I could easily get 162 armorings without set bonus. Why would I downgrade my gear?
