Hi,

 

So I decided to go into a warzone with a level 55 character and see if the bolster problem with the DvL gear had been fixed.

I can confirm that, at least as far as mastery is concerned, there is still a big problem with the way bolster treats the embedded stats.

All of the DvL gear tested here have mod and enhancement slots filled.

 

This first pic shows typical stats for bolstered regular gear for a level 55 dps.

This second pic shows how my stats change when equipping just the 3/7 DvL pieces with embedded presence.

As you can see there is a marked difference in the amount of mastery, though the other useful stats kind of balance themselves out.

A rundown of the difference in bolstered stats when using 3 DvL presence pieces instead of regular gear:

-216 mastery

+4 endurance

-14 power

+50 critical

-76 alacrity

+2 accuracy

+144 presence (useless in PvP)

 

This third pic shows all 7 DvL pieces equipped.

Again there is an overall drop in mastery, with the other stats kind of balancing themselves out.

A rundown of the difference in bolstered stats when using all of the DvL gear instead of regular gear:

-281 mastery

+23 endurance

-8 power

+54 critical

-114 alacrity

+16 accuracy

+144 presence (useless in PvP)

 

So, for now, it's up to you guys to decide if the XP boost is more valuable to you than the extra ~280 mastery.

It would be really nice if a bug fix was applied so we can have both but, considering I reported this bug in July, it's probably wishful thinking.

Thanks for doing the testing. I didn't have a full set of the DvL armor to check.

 

If it was up to me, I would not sacrifice 280 mastery for a little bit of XP, especially when you can use XP boosts.

Pretty much. I was just about to post that myself. Not sure why Eric even bothered to sticky it only 2 weeks ago if he knew this was coming.

I'm kind of new to the whole "hardcore" PVP stuff....does anyone have any advice for certain stats I should be focusing on?

Shame. Thank you Icy for this, it helped me understand Bolster and Expertise alot in the past. Now sadly it's obsolete and further, I hear you're leaving. Just wanted to say thanks for your help and I hope someone as dedicated as you steps in to give advice about the new system, if needed. Arrivederci...
