Sage and melee and force bonus damage.

I can't be the only one who has noticed this, but both the Guardian and Sent's get Strength and Willpower stats used to calculate their bonus damage for melee and force bonus damage. The sage on the other hand only gets Willpower, is this intended or a bug? When your in Warzone matches and this can make a big difference in the ammount of damage you can do compared to other clases.

Anyone know if this is the same on the Sith Sorcerer side?

As far as I can tell, it is intended (this was done in the last phases of beta).

What I have done, if you want to melee as a Sage, is to split your stats between Str/Wil gear and focus a lot on Power (which increases all your abilties). This will let you melee while not totally ****** yourself on your force abilities.

Edit: And yes, it is the same for Sorcerers.

This is intended. It's been commented on by GZ several times back during testing so unfortunately we have no quotes to link you.

Basically it's meant so that you can't proficiently kill someone in melee as a Sage and thus have a need to kite. It also didn't really fall in line with the gameplay style intended for this caster-archtype class.

Actually it's entirely within the lore. Jedi often had areas of expertise. Ours would be the Force, certainly not our saber. We would obviously know basic attacks and how to defend ourselves with it but we certainly would not be saber masters by any means.

Honestly this is clearly the caster archtype class. If you rolled this over the melee centric AC's expecting to hold your own in close quarters, you were mistaken. This class was after all (and still is in much of the coding) named Jedi Wizard originally.

Enjoy your glow-staff.

why should redo the class again. come on people this class was deem as caster not melee so why would people keep making thread about as not enable to use our lightsaber. when you play a mage in other mmo do you use your staff or what ever weapons you are allow if the weapon is not range weapon.

Maybe "enjoy your glow stat stick"?

IMO, the issue is more the designers trying to balance out light saber stats as a melee weapon. What light sabers could do in the movies (e.g. Qui-gon burning through a heavy armor door in Episode 1) just doesn't work for gaming. Bioware has been clear they want to stay away from one hit kills for any class, while well trained Jedi in the SW movies easily cut down melee opponents in droves.

I agree with the many compaints that it's not as much fun playing a non-light saber using Jedi, but for game balance it's probably required. I'm sure there would be just as many complaints if Jedi got cut down easily by massed blaster fire ala Episode 2.
