Guide: (Hidden) Space Bonus Missions

2/9/2012: Version 1.2 of the guide is complete. Now with more correct data, Operation names and rewards, and Commendation rewards as well. Added the Potential Bug list as well. Also, lets see if we can find a Daily Bonus for the Minefield missions!

 

Important Facts:

1) I play Imperial side, so the mission names are Imperial names. I assume the bonuses are equivalent for the Republic, and only have different names.

2) For Empire, Frigate = Corvette, and Capital Ship = the larger, oval shaped one.

3) The Daily bonuses can only be completed using Missiles/Torpedoes. And they take a lot of missiles, about 20 for the communication spikes, about 30 for the Capital ship bridges.

4) Some of the bonuses seem to require that you be a particular level to earn them. So while you unlock Skaross at level 34, you cannot get the Fighter bonus until level 41.

5) Objectives/Rewards in yellow can only be completed/earned once a day per character

Operation Silent Roar / Operation Midnight Freedom - 502 credits, 4 Fleet Commendations

Jabiim Escort / Fondor Escort:

Main: Protect the Shuttle - 330 credits, 1 Fleet Commendation

Bonus 1: Destroy Fighters (25) - 120 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy Frigate Turrets (20) - 847 credits (lvl 30 min)

Bonus 3: Destroy the Capital Ship Bridge - 2538 credits - Daily Bonus (discovered by Temptis)

[Cannot be completed with missiles, due to limited time the bridge is on screen]

[Also, there are 3 Capital Ships in this mission. The first one (that launches the shuttle) does not count, but the other 2 do.]

[On the Republic side, you want the second one. I didn't get an exact time, but it shows up fairly early on (maybe 1 minute in), dropping in from Hyperspace on your left. -Terren]

 

 

Operation Echo Quake / Operation Searing Light - 1,584 credits, 5 Fleet Commendations

Saleucami Fleet Action / Javaal Fleet Action:

Main: Destroy Ace and Red Talon Fighters - 330 credits, 1 Fleet Commendation

Bonus 1: Destroy Fighters and Frigate Turrets (50) - 198 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy Frigate Shield Generators (8) - 847 credits (lvl 30 min)

Bonus 3: Destroy the Capital Ship Bridge - 2538 credits - Daily Bonus (discovered by Consilem)

[Cannot be completed with missiles, due to limited time the bridge is on screen]

 

Cartel Listening Station / Balosar Outpost:

Main: Destroy the various targets on the station - 330 credits, 1 Fleet Commendation

Bonus 1: Destroy Fighters (60) - 198 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy Frigate Turrets (20) and Defense Satellites (4) - 847 credits (lvl 30 min)

Bonus 3: Destroy the communications spike on the bottom of the station - 2538 credits - Daily Bonus

[Can be completed with missiles]

 

 

Operation Eternal Domain / Operation Noble Gambit - 1,885 credits, 6 Fleet Commendations

Nez Peron Sweep / Archenar Interception:

Main: Destroy Fighters (60) - 645 credits, 1 Fleet Commendation

Bonus 1: Destroy Capital Ship Turrets (12) - 198 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy Fighters (100) - 1158 credits - (lvl 34 min)

Bonus 3: Destroy Capital Ship Bridge - 2538 credits - Daily Bonus (discovered by Auhfel)

[Can be completed with missiles]

 

Serapin Assault / Makem Te Assault

Main: Destroy the capital ship's shield generators and turrets - 645 credits, 1 Fleet Commendation

Bonus 1: Destroy Enemy Fighters and Frigate Turrets (75) - 386 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy Escort Shield Generators (5) and Engines (6) - 1158 credits (lvl 34 min)

Bonus 3: Destroy the Capital Ship Bridge - 2538 credits - Daily Bonus

[Can be completed with missiles]

 

 

Operation Molten Splinter / Operation Ardent Wave - 3,090 credits, 7 Fleet Commendations

Ezran Outpost / Llanic Station Strike:

Main: Destroy the various targets on the station - 1413 credits, 3 Fleet Commendations

Bonus 1: Destroy Fighters (60) - 847 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy Frigate Turrets (20) and Defense Satellites (4) - 1526 credits - (Lvl 38 min)

Bonus 3: Destroy the communications spike on the bottom of the station - 2538 credits - Daily Bonus

[Can be completed with missiles]

 

Taspan Ambush / Syvris Evacuation:

Main: Escort the Shuttle - 1413 credits, 1 Fleet Commendation

Bonus 1: Destroy fighters (60) - 386 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy Frigate Turrets (40) - 1526 credits - (lvl 38 min)

Bonus 3: Destroy the Capital Ship Bridge - 2538 credits - Daily Bonus (discovered by Temptis)

Operation Rising Fury / Operation Glory Cyclone - 4,068 credits, 8 Fleet Commendations

Bonus 3: Destroy the Capital Ship Bridge - 3385 credits - Daily Bonus (discovered by Kreychek, credit amount by TrentEaston)

Skaross Fortification / Pakuuni Defense

Main: Destroy Bombers - 2227 credits, 3 Fleet Commendations

Bonus 3: Destroy the Capital Ship Bridge - 2538 credits - Daily Bonus (discovered by Temptis)

[On the mission Skaross Fortification you can blow the command up with missiles. Its a bit tricky though. Several times as you pass the station on your right you can hit it with missiles. You can not see it but you can lock missiles on it through the station. Just aim for where it should be and you will be able to target and blow that sucker up. -Thanks to Shazrad for the tip]

 

 

Operation Sweeping Menace / Operation Sunder Zero - 5196 credits, 9 Fleet Commendations

Polith Minefield / Hydian Way Blockade

Main: Destroy Mine Layer Engines (2), Mine Layer Bays (1), and Mines (150) - 3247 credits, 3 Fleet Commendations

Bonus 1: Destroy Tender Engines (4) - 1950 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy Heavy Fighters (4) - 2167 credits (lvl 44 min)

 

Sullust Interception / Drexel Sweep

Main: Destroy Fighters (60) - 3247 credits, 3 Fleet Commendations

Bonus 1: Destroy Capital Ship Turrets (12) - 386 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy the Capital Ship Bridge - 2538 credits - Daily Bonus (discovered by Temptis)

[Despite being a rehash of Nez Peron Sweep, there is no 100 Fighter bonus mission]

 

 

Operation Raging Dawn / Operation Grand Nova - 5,360 credits, 10 Fleet Commendations

Aeten Defense / Kalee Fortification

Main: Destroy Ace Bombers (50) - 4020 credits, 5 Fleet Commendations

Bonus 1: Destroy fighters (30) - 2411 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy frigate shield generators (4) - 2511 credits

[Despite being a rehash of Skaross Fortification, the Capital Ship Bridge is not a bonus mission]

 

Clouds of Vondoru / Zosha Advance

Main: Destroy Capital Ship Shield Generators (4) and Turrets (20) - 4020 credits, 5 Fleet Commendations

Bonus 1: Destroy fighters and turrets (75) - 1526 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy the capital ship's bridge - 2538 credits(CoV awards 0 currently) - Daily (possibly bugged) Bonus

[With the Ship Bridge not awarding credits, unless you have a severe hankering for 680 Legacy XP, my recommendation is to use all 4 torpedoes on the shield generators]

[Despite being a rehash of Serapin Assault, there is no Frigate Shield/Engine bonus]

 

 

Operation Ascendant Pride / Operation New Eclipse - 7,848 credits, 15 Fleet Commendations, 2 Daily Commendations

Ascendancy Barrier / The Impossible Sector

Main: Destroy Minelayer Bay, Minelayer Engines(2), and Mines(175) - 4905 credits, 5 Fleet Commendations

Bonus 1: Destroy heavy fighters (4) - 2943 credits

Bonus 2: Destroy fighter tender engines (4) - 2943 credits.

 

As of patch 1.1.2, Operation Ascendant Pride / Operation New Eclipse now awards 2 Daily Commendations.

 

Only the main objective needs to be complete to earn the commendations.

 

Starting in patch 1.2, the individual missions will no longer reward fleet commendations, and the commendations will be moved to the daily operation reward. In addition, crafting materials will be purchasable with Fleet Commendations. Thanks to Dulfy for the info, and read more here

 

 

Space Mission Bugs:

1) Destroy the Bridge bonus mission on Clouds of Vondoru currently awards no credits. Zosha Advance rewards 2538 credits. Thanks to Jackii for confirming that only the Empire-side mission is broken.

 

Possible Space Mission Bugs:

1) Several of the "Hard Mode" space missions lose bonus objectives from their "Normal Mode"cousins. Ex. Ship Bridge on Aeten vs Skaross, Fighters on Sullust vs Nez Peron.

2) There does not appear to be a Daily bonus in either of the Minefield missions. Bug, WAI, or are we just not looking hard enough?

Of note, my level 22 character no longer gets xp from Jabiim Escort (5xp from bonus and completion) however the destroy turrets still does not unlock when I destroy a frigate turret. I want to say that these kind of bonuses (not the daily bonus) is put in there so that higher level characters still get some kind of incentive to do it. If you notice, the credit amount from the bonus non-daily is higher than the mission and primary bonus objective credit combined on all of the missions.. Edited by Auhfel

Also, I'm out of town for a few days, so I can't test this personally.

 

I noticed, and a couple people have pointed out to me as well, that there's a Capital ship that shows up near the end of the Jabiim escort mission. (About 1 min remaining on the timer)

 

You'd probably have to be a pretty hot stick to take out its bridge with missiles, but if anyone can take it out with a torpedo just to confirm if it is/isn't a bonus objective, let me know and credit will be given.

I'm of the opinion it is impossible with missiles. I try to take it down with all of my characters, it never works. I believe the missile count is closer to 25 to take down a bridge, after some testing, but you just can't get that many missiles into the bridge in the time alotted. If anyone has level 50 characters with protons, help would be appreciated it in testing.

Correct. That is a Daily Bonus, and can only be completed once a day per character.

 

I'll edit the main list to try and make the differentiation more clear.

Lemme clarify this stuff for ya =) I like this space stuff way too much..

 

For destroying the array, you always get 500 xp. Even when you destroy it first and get the objective credits and XP.

 

This objective is repeatable - consider it a daily quest. It is reset in the morning when the other space combat missions are reset. I assume you probably tried to do it twice in one day. Don't get discouraged, it is still repeatable.. but just once a day.

Another quick note on bridges/the bottom of the Cartel Listening Station and other similar things: targets like these that have the blue flash (shield, I guess) when you try and shoot at them are easily taken out with one good proton torpedo - if you can keep them in frame long enough to get the torpedo to lock on.

Ah...there is where my misunderstanding was. I though it was 2800xp the first time (I saw it show on my screen when I knocked it out the first time), then subsequent times was only 500xp. I didn't realize it was 2800xp for the mission, plus 500xp for the kill. My post wasn't meant to say the information was wrong, I was trying to add to the information (what happens if you do it more than once a day).

If you have protons, would you kindly do me a favor? Do the Jabiim escort or Fondor escort, depnening on your faction, and destroy the bridges in them and see if they reward a daily bonus quest? It'd be great to know.

So I got my lvl 19 char to level 20, and she stopped getting the xp for the Jabiim Escort mission. She can still get the daily mission for it from the terminal, though, and get xp for that.

 

Jabiim XP is 1995 on completion, and 795 for completing the destroy 25 fighters bonus. The max level to get XP for this is 19 (Makes sense, since at 20 you get the next missions)

 

At level 15, I got the same experience for these so the XP doesn't depend on a specific level -- 1995 xp all the way until it drops to 5 xp when you reach 20. If I have time I'll run the 2 and 3rd missions to see if XP dropped for them, too, I'm sure it did.

 

The XP for Saleucami and Cartel and their primary bonus (the no level restriction, non daily) is both 1995 / 995.

just used a photon torp, works like a charm.

 

same for Skaross Fortification, Taspan Ambush and Sullust Interception.

basicly anything that a photon torp can lock on to is a bonus mission

finally, someone tested! thanks. That makes me not have to try to get to 50 quickly to test it myself.. it kind of sucks that only 1 bonus objective is doable while you're even in xp range of the mission.

 

Can you also check on Saleucami fleet action? There is a bridge on that too near the end.

i tried but i messed up with the torp on that one. will try again tomorrow if i remember.

i even had the photon upgrade banked until today because it makes clouds a pita...

 

on a side note, the Capital Ship Bridge on Aeten Defense is not a bonus mission @50

On the Nez Peron Sweep mission, it is not hard to kill both the turrets and the bridge, as long as you realize that you can target the turrets before you can actually see the cruiser itself.

 

In the 5-10 seconds before you see the cruiser for the first time, you are approaching a very large asteroid that covers the upper half of your view. Your flight path is down and to the left of the asteroid and then back up and to the right (as the cruiser comes into view). You are met by a couple of fighters coming up from the left (having passed under the asteroid headed your way). If you move your targeting cursor over the asteroid where those fighters appear, and a little to the right/above that point, you will see that it stays red. If you start firing you will be hitting the cruiser's turrets on the other side of the asteroid (and the fighters, if you start with them and sweep up/right).

 

I usually kill 3-4 of the cruiser's guns before I pass under the asteroid and the cruiser comes into view. After that it's very easy to get the rest of the turrets as you keep slamming missiles into the bridge. You get 3 passes at close range for the turrets plus another long range pass (the first) where you can put missiles into the bridge with clean shots. I make sure I am firing at the bridge, launch all my missiles, then sweep the cross hair over some turrets while my missiles reload, then more missiles before the asteroids block my fire.

I did it for the first time just last night, but barely. My ship on that char is only rocking level 1 upgrades w/o the blaster power converter thing, so the blaster bolts just don't drop the turrets that fast. I would still consider it hard, unless I suppose you have strong ship mods.

I just did the three highest-level missions and can report the following:

 

Note that all of these were done at lvl50, only once each today.

 

Aeten Defense (higher level version of Skaross Fortification)

 

Main: destroy bombers

Bonus 1: destroy fighters (30) - 2411 credits

Bonus 2: destroy frigate shield generators (4) - 2511 credits

A proton torpedo hit to the capital ship's bridge did nothing.

 

Clouds of Vondoru (same as Serapin Assault)

Main: destroy capital ship shields

Bonus 1: destroy fighters and turrets (75) - 1526 credits

Bonus 2: destroy the capital ship's bridge - ? credits

Destroying the frigates' shields did nothing.

 

Ascendancy Barrier (same as Polith Minefield)

Main: destroy mines, destroy mine layer

Bonus 1: destroy heavy fighters (4) - 2943 credits

Bonus 2: destroy fighter tender engines (4) - 2943 credits

There were no possible targets for proton torpedoes.

 

 

We've seen extra bonus missions open up later, past the intended levels of the space missions. I did not find a third bonus in any of the three intended to be done at lvl50. I think it's plausible that BW will add a third to each of these at some later date, perhaps in an expansion when the level cap is increased (and these missions grey out).

 

Also, destroying the capital ship's bridge on Jabim Escort yielded 2538 credits, as did dong so on on Sullust Interception. Destroying the capital ship's shield generators did nothing.

 

Is there anything else you'd like tested?

It still boggles me why the extra objectives don't open up until much later, when the mission isn't really much worth doing. I wonder if this is Working as Intended.

 

Look at the credit numbers. They're much, much higher than the other objectives of that level. For example, on the very first mission, Jabim Escort, destroying the bridge of the capital ship awards you 2538 credits. It requires either proton torpedoes or some serious skill with missiles. When you get the torpedoes at lvl50, 2.5k credits is not a whole lot of money, but it isn't insignificant (about as much as a loot chest or a single quest). It seems to me that the purpose of the extra objectives is to make the mission worth doing - or at least not a complete waste of time - at max level.
