The Contraband Slot Machine

I disagree. As quite the Contraband slot jockey (and a fan of slot machines overall), I can attest that Bioware finally got the drop rate close to accurate. I mean, it's a slot machine. You're not supposed to get rich off of them. If you hit the jackpot, it's supposed to be a big deal.

Are you gonna get 10 in a week? Probably not unless you hammer the slot machine all week for hours on end. But that's how a slot machine operates. You're not supposed to get rich; just lucky.

It WOULD be nice if the game were to keep tabs on whether or not I already won the walker on a character though. Managed to get a full row of the things once. I don't know if they vendor now, but back then they did not. :-p

The mistake made by the studio was having it payout anything other then certificates or Cartel faction tokens to build faction so you can use the certificates.

It was the rich payouts of jawa junk that got some people worked up and lobbying to nerf the machine.

What they need to do is readjust the loot table so that it ONLY drops a slot token, a certificate, or a faction token at an appropriate % chance to drop. Remove the Jawa junk from the table as well as that lame super rare drop rate mount they threw in to distract players from the super-nerf. That way, players can grind for access to the vendors in the Cartel Bazaar, and yet get nothing that they can use as a credit fountain (jawa junk for buying rare mats or companion affection items in the maintenance and delicacy variety).

In fact.. reform the loot table to drop certificates at a low but reasonable rate, and have a reasonable chance to drop any of the Cartel Bazaar Faction Vendor rep tokens.

Considering that I was born in 1965 I am not of "this generation" son. You have no idea as to what you are talking about. people already got the odds figured out, and you are working strictly from anecdotal information.

Hehe.... Indeed. Get 'em Ivanhedgehog! :D

I think it is hilarious that he is trying to lecture us about slot drop rates in Vegas... which are the worst kept secret in the world... being as most casinos actually will tell you the average odds, by coin type, if you simply walk up and ask a floor manager. In fact, I have found that if you engage a floor manager in a friendly manner, sometimes they will even tell you which slots on their floor are a bit richer then others as they do have "jinglers" located at key points of foot traffic to create buzz around the casinos "slots being on fire".

As for the current odds on the contraband slots... yeah... these have been derived by multiple players from thousands of pulls and shared here in the forum.

?? What are you talking about?? I said nothing about rep or GC anything. You're mixing the two up, CM and GC. I, like others, strongly don't believe in getting CM rep in GC. I don't want rep, I only want a higher drop rate on Cartel Market Certificates, as I ALREADY have the reputation for the Cartel Market vendors!!! The only way I can utilize my rep with them >>> Cartel Market Certificates!

My mistake -- I thought you were a new guy wanting what old players have. I still have somewhere between 8-10 certs left from the old days - strictly from packs.

...and what's the payout compared to the amount spent? ;-) Also, look at your payout rate on the Contraband Slot Machine honestly. Are you forgetting to add in the wins where you get your coin back?

Son, I'm tellin' ya. I've hammered that slot machine more than anyone. DEFINITELY more than you have. It's on par and pays out very close to appropriately - so close, in fact, that I'd argue it'd be foolish to tweak it any further one way or the other.

I get that today's generation doesn't want to wait. Believe me, I get that. But I would suggest that this generation instead just play some cards.

The devs most likely will ignore anything and everything about the CSM. Its what they do.

Uh oh. I'd better get off your lawns.

Yes. Yes he did.

I swear this topic is like herpes. It keeps coming back.

The last thing that user should be doing is debating anyone in this topic when they gave away all their pixels and pretty much swore to never come back after a nerf to a gambling machine LOL.

3 weeks ago I started collecting Revan`s armor set, robes, chest plate I got cheap luckily,my last purchase was the sash which was insane cause 1hr later the others dropped 1/2 price,,the gloves are no longer there and the mask was way too much,,by luck someone read what I said about his mask in the bazar and offered me a keyring to his stronghold to which I`m gratefull cause in 1 week I got 12 certs but sadly upon getting Revan`s mask from the bazar I did not realise it is not part of the set,,in due course of that time in grinding missions and heroics I finally was able to buy Revan`s mask at a lower price but still his gloves I cant find on the gtn,so now I have 2 masks and I spent 10 mins reading some of the posts here I got 2 more certs which I`ll get malgus`s holo..

end of a long post,to me I knew the chances of getting what I wanted, I just didn't look into the details of the mask that's all but I had fun non the less, and after selling off the rep`s I got back around half of what I spent to buy tokens and now I have tons of green, blue and purple junk but during all this time I had my comps go on missions and made more in mats then I`ll get with the junk..i think it was a nice diversion from the grinding the same missions and heroics for a while and even if I had to rebuy the main item I wanted I have no regrets and made a new friend at the same time.

1957. You're still a kid to me. That's wonderful. XD

Anyway.

Your pessimism aside (I didn't realize you spoke for the devs! Is it a good-paying job?), I don't see a problem with pointing out that the slot machine's payout rate is solid from a gameplay standpoint as well as a realistic standpoint. You, apparently, have a problem with this. I'm not sure why. But if you think you're speaking with facts, I'd love to see your numbers on the slot machine's payout rate.

I'm certain you've actually sat there, hammered the machine, and wrote down every result. Just like I did. Right? :)

Thx! But where do i get those cubes? they dont seem to be in the cartel-market...

You get one Grand Chance Cube in every Steadfast Champion Pack and have a chance to get them from all other Command Packs currently available on the Cartel Market (they were introduced back with the Anarchist Alliance Packs in February of last year and have been a possible drop in all Packs since then). There are usually plenty of Grand Chance Cubes on the GTN because of how often they drop from the Packs.

Presumably you will always get one in every Dread Warlord Pack when those release in a couple weeks, as well, since they haven't said anything about changing that new setup that started with the Steadfast Champion Packs.

It is a slot machine. They are designed so you'll lose. Your argument that because you spent millions of credits and hours at this machine, therefore you should just get the rewards you seek is ludicrous at best. IT'S A SLOT MACHINE! You will always lose. How many times do you need to bang your head against the wall before you realize that it hurts?

Shadow of Revan was 3.0, NOT 4.0.

NO.. they did not remove them from the slot loot table, they just made them a very low chance to drop when they swung the nerf bat. Which brings us to the nature of slot machines, both in real life and in game...... random chance = random chance.

This has all been explained, outlined, and documented in this thread... so maybe next time.. read the thread and stop the hyperbole.

Maybe next time people should think before screaming to have something nerfed. It's why we can't have nice things in an MMO sometimes.
