SWTOR to miss 'Spring 2011' launch window? | 02.09.2010 , 04:41 AM
EA’s confirmed that BioWare’s Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic, won’t make the publisher’s next financial year, casting a previous “spring 2011″ release date into serious doubt. Speaking in EA’s Q3 earnings call last night, CFO Eric Brown said the game won’t ship in the 12 months ending March 31, 2011. “We are not assuming that we bring a major new MMO to market in fiscal ‘11. We will continue to increase significant development cost as we prepare this title for launch,” he said.

Luckily it was only a target date and not a release date. So ... meh.

They had:
-teaser trailers
-a big cinematic
-all classes revealed
-half the planets revealed
-plenty of gameplay demos
-game tester invites
-game media "hands on preview"
-a comic to give backstory leading up to release

everything was on track for an mid-2010 release, then all of a sudden we hear this won't be seen until mid to late 2011, making it 3.5 to 4 years in development, and possibly redesigning everything everything thats been seen

This all happend when EA started posting losses and firing everyone, so it's got to be money-trouble related, and probably have paused development on the game given the fact so much content was available to give media reps hands on tests of classes and missions, meaning that the game will see release within 1-6 months as with STO and so many other games.

It's a shame Bioware had to be purchased by EA and be a part of that mess

Geez, fiscal 2011 ends in September 2011... Meh, hope it's just a rumor.

They know that the WoW expansion will be out for christmas therefore they know that possible targets for this game will have got involved in the expansion, a late 2011 release will have given the WoW heads time to complete the expansion and get bored of the game. If there was no WoW expansion we would be looking forward to a late 2010 release

Your not telling me EA are potless thats a joke looool.
He told me enough, he told me you killed him!!!!
