Ryjah
Having only played a limited time in beta, was wondering if some of you vets could shed some light on the merits of each dps tree in Commando. One thing that I'm having trouble with is the top tier Assault tactic "Assault Plastique" sharing a cooldown with and apparently doing the same thing as "Sticky Grenade". Any pointers? BuckarooB
from what i've seen the big difference is mobility. Assault lets you move more freely, like run and gun. Gunnerys is more stationary, so you'll have to attack at oppurtune moments when the enemy is distracted, and use your stuns to put distance between you and melee enemies
WidlYboy
I personally think that gunnery tree will give you more dps, thanks to grav vortex+demoliton round Full dps = Gunnery At least for me

StickAndMove
from what i've seen the big difference is mobility. Assault lets you move more freely, like run and gun. Gunnerys is more stationary, so you'll have to attack at oppurtune moments when the enemy is distracted, and use your stuns to put distance between you and melee enemies Let me clarify this, because like the gunner, an assault specialist must also remain still to maximize damage (being that charged bolts and full auto refresh high impact bolt's cooldown and remove its cost if talented appropriately). The difference is that the assault specialist will deal more damage on the move and the gunner while the opposite is true. Both need to plant their feet to shoot to the best of their ability. Grey_Knight
It is all about what you want to do. Assault is all about DOTS Gunnery is straight damage. Personally I am a DOT man there is nothing better than being brought down after a good fight and 3 seconds later seeing 4 or 5 enemies drop dead from some DOTS. I may go down but some of you are coming with me. Edited December 15, 2011 by Grey_Knight
Ronamo
Gunnery also has excellent AOE damage, as does the Jedi Consular Sage Telekenetics.
SirHaggis
Assault 31 talent is a stronger single target version of sticky.
Trokkar
Gunnery also has excellent AOE damage, as does the Jedi Consular Sage Telekenetics. Are you referring to mortar or is there another? I thought both get mortar is why I am asking and I did not see any buffs in the talent tree for motar specifically.
Astares
Assault Specialist gets more AoE damage. Assault Plastique ability and Rain of Fire skill puts it out front of Gunnery for AoE damage. Gunnery is a single target dps focused tree. Gunnery has no extra AoE ability (well improved ability since it basically replaces Sticky Grenade) and no skills that buff an AoE ability directly. Assault Specialist is more mobile then Gunnery but not a lot, you should still be using Full Auto and Charged Bolts to proc Ionic Accelerator so you will be standing still often. For PvP though Incendiary Round and the Plasma Cell effect allows you to spread the damage across a lot of targets will still moving.
